I Lost Over 129 Pounds Eating These Delicious Foods

Here is what one weight loss warrior eats to lose weight.

Weight loss influencer Mike (@jiggly.mike) has amassed a following for sharing all the tips and tricks that helped him lose 129 pounds. In terms of his diet, Mike maintains that he is still able to eat delicious foods – and a lot of them. In a few viral videos he details some of the things he eats in a day. The Body Network also asked The Diet Diva, Tara Collingwood, MS, RDN, CSSD, LD/N, ACSM-CPT, a Board Certified Sports Dietitian, to weigh in.

He Starts with Protein Sources: Ground Beef and Turkey

In the first video, he shares his shopping list for the week. "For the protein sources, we have extra lean ground beef and some super extra lean ground Turkey breast."

Here Is What He Brings to Work

In the second video, he reveals all the food he brings to work to keep him fueled up for up to 12-hour days. He starts with Skittles C4 Energy Drink, "because I like to start each and every day with a mild panic attack," he jokes. "For a mid-morning snack, we have a Quest protein bar, 190 calories, 21 grams of protein. For my second snack of the day, I'll consume a whole bag of peppered beef jerky. Really can't beat it. 210 calories, 28 grams of protein, and just a little over $2 a bag at Aldi. Then for the main course, we have a couple of sandwiches that I make with this 40 calorie Italian bread, some ultra thin baby Swiss cheese, only 35 calories per slice, little bit of black forest ham, some Turkey pepperoni, only 70 calories for 16 slices and some light mayo. Wash it all down with a Coke Zero Sugar," he says.

"These are all great sources of protein for quick and easy meal prep," says Collingwood. "I am glad he has some carbs from the potatoes and tortillas (even if they are the low carb kind). I like the lower carb tortillas because they have a lot of fiber," she says. She also loves that there are "a few veggies" but "would like to see more veggies and some fruit in the mix."

RD Weighs in On His Work Meals

As for his work food, what he packs "is pretty highly processed and high in sodium," says Collingwood. "Maybe instead of protein bars and beef jerky he could consider greek yogurt, cottage cheese, some hard boiled eggs, or even some Fairlife milk. Some protein bars and beef jerky are fine, but after downing the energy drink and eating processed meats for lunch and diet soda, it is just a lot of additives and sodium." As for the light Italian bread, it is great for keeping calories down but it is not very filling," she continues. "Might want to consider whole grain bread that has a few more calories but will provide more protein, fiber, and fullness." She also suggests that he could grill some chicken breasts and use them for sandwiches instead of all of the processed deli meat. "I don't mind an energy drink or coffee but have some breakfast with it and don't just rely on the caffeine for energy all morning," she concludes.
