Melissa McCarthy Lost 95 Pounds Without Surgery and Here Are 4 Daily Habits She Swears By

We're always curious to hear weight-loss success stories. This is especially true when an individual made lifestyle changes and lost weight naturally, without the use of prescription medication or surgery. Actress Melissa McCarthy did exactly that—and she lost roughly 95 pounds, according to Page Six.
It's extremely common for people to try various measures to lose weight. Weight-loss drugs like Ozempic and Wegovy have become a popular go-to, and there's nothing wrong with that. It's a personal decision that has to be made on an individual basis. Make no mistake—everyone's weight-loss journey involves hard work, consistency, and discipline.
Before you choose which road to take, it's always wise to learn all of the options out there. There can be costs, side effects, and health risks involved, and one of the most essential steps to consider is how you will keep the weight off after you lose it.
That's why some individuals decide to make drastic lifestyle changes—ones that are sustainable long after they reach their weight loss goal. McCarthy took this road, and here are the four habits the Bridesmaids star swears by.

She Took a Slower Approach to Weight Loss

Starting any weight-loss journey can be overwhelming. There's much to consider and crucial changes to be made. Not to mention, most—if not all—of us want to see results quickly for our efforts. McCarthy took a more gradual approach—and it paid off.
"Everybody's always kind of working on something," the celeb shared in 2018 on Breakfast Club Power 105.1 FM. "And I was like, 'If I can de-stress and just do it slower and stop constantly trying to be on something.' And then it actually worked better instead of being like, 'I'm gonna not do this and do this and only drink this.'"

She Didn't Follow an Extreme Diet

Another key to McCarthy's success was that she didn't follow a strict diet. Sustainability matters in any weight-loss journey, as extreme dieting can make it easy to veer off course.
When speaking of extreme diets, McCarthy said, "14 hours in, you go crazy. So I was like, 'I'm just gonna mellow out [and] give myself a break … After I had kids, I was just like, 'I have to be realistic. It's not gonna go fast. But I mean, I feel great."

She Worked Out

Switching up your workout is an excellent way to not get bored. In fact, research shows that performing multiple forms of activity helps boost cardiovascular fitness, body composition, bone strength, and overall well-being. It may even promote longevity.
McCarthy previously shared that she got really into boxing and Pilates. "I've lost 30 pounds [doing the exercise] over the last year," the actress told ET (via Women's Health).

She Wanted To Set a Solid Example for Her Kids

The celeb previously revealed that she wanted to set a great example for her daughters—and that it's all about balance.
"I want to show them how to be healthy. My husband and I always make a pot of vegetable soup that we puree and keep in the fridge. They don't eat processed foods. But if my oldest daughter wants a cupcake, once in a while I'll let her have it," McCarthy said (via PEOPLE).
