Fitness Expert Who Lost 50 Pounds Reveals "Lazy Girl Hacks" for Weight Loss

Here are easy ways to lose big, says one woman.

Online fitness coach Alexandra (@alexx.fitt) has amassed a following on TikTok and Instagram by sharing videos about how she lost 50 pounds. In a new Instagram post, she reveals a few of her best "lazy girl hacks" for weight loss. We also asked The Diet Diva, Tara Collingwood, MS, RDN, CSSD, LD/N, ACSM-CPT, a Board Certified Sports Dietitian, to weigh in on her tactics. 

Cook Double

Alexandra's first hack is to cook double. She says, "this way you're gonna have leftovers for lunch for the next couple days & no need to cook!" Collingwood is all about food prep. "You can batch cook on the weekends or your day off or you can simply cook double, triple, or quadruple when you do cook so you have plenty of leftovers," she says. "Having food on hand that just needs to be warmed up takes half the battle out of eating healthy! You can also more easily control portions when you have the food portioned out and there isn't temptation to go back for seconds."

Make Healthy Swaps

She also suggests making healthy swaps. "Get the nuts, get the pre-cut veggies instead of having a chocolate bar, have a protein bar on hand," she suggests. "Having foods on hand that are easy to grab is key. If you have to spend time preparing it, that is one more thing that will get in the way," says Collingwood.

Workout Prep the Night Before

Alexandra also suggests workout prepping the night before you want to exercise. "Be prepared have your clothes set out the night before, have your water bottle filled up just be ready to go," she says. "Yes! Take all the excuses away for not working out," Collingwood encourages. "If you have everything laid out the day before you don't have to think about it in the morning while your brain is still foggy. Just get dressed and grab your pre filled water bottle and head out the door!"

Drink "Bubbly Water"

Alexandra also swears by bubbly water. She says: "Omg I'm obsessed I have this before meals or when I'm craving sugar even tho I just had sugar. Having good drinks on hand is key." Bubbly water "can be a great way to have something fun to drink besides just plain water," says Collingwood. "If you add a little bit of flavor it can feel like a treat!"

Invest in an Air Fryer

"Smart kitchen appliances my air fryer is my BFF," says Alexandra. "I cook frozen foods in there all the time! I put it in and then I go back to the couch with my bubbly water until I hear a beep."

Collingwood relies heavily on her air fryer. "You can warm/cook things quickly and they are nice and crispy instead of soggy in the microwave and it's faster than the oven," she says.
