Here's What Happened When Sharon Osbourne Lost 42 Pounds on Ozempic and Why She Stopped

If you're considering GLP-1 medication for weight loss, it's important to know all the facts. Many people—including celebs—have experienced significant results with prescription drugs like Ozempic, but the side effects shouldn't be taken lightly. We're here to share what happened when Sharon Osbourne lost 42 pounds on Ozempic—and why she decided to stop.
She Received Gastric Band Surgery

The 73-year-old TV personality has been incredibly transparent about her weight journey. In 1999, Osbourne received gastric band surgery.
She Dropped 100 Pounds

During the following seven years, Osbourne dropped over 100 pounds, according to PEOPLE. She ended up getting the band removed in 2006 due to side effects.
She Tried the Atkins Diet

Osbourne tried the Atkins low-carb diet, noting that it was "unbelievable."
"It gave me structure to a part of my life that I had very little self-control over. I always had bad problems with my weight, flip-flopping all the time, so it's something that taught me to take care of myself," the celeb told PEOPLE.
She Took Ozempic

During her health journey, Osbourne took Ozempic, a weight-loss drug that serves as an appetite suppressant and helps individuals manage type-2 diabetes.
"I started on Ozempic last December and I've been off it for a while now, but my warning is don't give it to teenagers, it's just too easy," Osbourne told Daily Mail in 2023.
She "Couldn't Stop" Losing Weight

Osbourne also shared a message of caution, based on her personal experience on Ozempic.
"You can lose so much weight and it's easy to become addicted to that, which is very dangerous. I couldn't stop losing weight and now I've lost 42 pounds and I can't afford to lose any more," Osbourne told Daily Mail.
She Now Aims for a "Healthy Balance"

In 2023, Osbourne revealed to E! that she reached "the point of losing too much" and needed to maintain her weight.
"In my life, the heaviest I was 230 pounds and I'm now under a hundred. And I want to maintain [my weight] at about 105 because I'm too skinny. But I'm trying to have a healthy balance," the celeb shared.
