Here's How Oprah Lost 50 Pounds on a GLP-1 and Finally Ended Her Lifelong Battle With Weight

Oprah Winfrey has always been transparent with fans regarding her weight-loss journey throughout her career. She's proof that gaining and losing weight can be challenging, and her experiences are somewhat relatable. From trying WeightWatchers (WW), Atkins, the Cabbage Soup Diet, and more, the celeb shared how she lost roughly 50 pounds on GLP-1 medication, ending her lifelong battle with weight—and she's feeling better than ever.
Oprah's Weight-Loss Journey Has Been Life-Changing

Oprah's weight loss has been truly life-changing. The daily adjustments she's made have given her much more energy. The celeb enjoys working out regularly—and taking a GLP-1 completely shifted her desire to indulge in alcohol, according to PEOPLE.
"I feel more alive and more vibrant than I've ever been," Oprah shared. "I hardly recognize the woman I've become. But she's a happy woman."
She Took GLP-1 Medication

Although Oprah has not revealed which GLP-1 medication she used, the celeb's objective was to lose weight by embarking on an overall holistic journey. She combined the medication with a solid fitness routine and implemented certain lifestyle changes to achieve her goal weight, which she previously noted was 160 pounds.
"The fact that there's a medically approved prescription for managing weight and staying healthier, in my lifetime, feels like relief, like redemption, like a gift, and not something to hide behind and once again be ridiculed for. I'm absolutely done with the shaming from other people and particularly myself," Oprah told PEOPLE.
She Hikes

One of Oprah's go-to workouts? Lacing up her shoes and heading out on an invigorating hike.
"After knee surgery, I started hiking and setting new distance goals each week. I could eventually hike three to five miles every day and a 10-mile straight-up hike on weekends," Oprah shared with PEOPLE. "I felt stronger, more fit and more alive than I'd felt in years."
Hiking is a stellar exercise for the mind, body, and soul. Tackling challenging trails with hills and varying terrain burns calories while putting the muscles to work. Plus, simply being outdoors and soaking up the fresh air can boost one's mental well-being.
She Follows the Point System

Another healthy part of Oprah's routine? Her diet. The actress and producer enjoys her final meal of the day early on, stays hydrated, and utilizes a point system.
"I eat my last meal at 4 o'clock, drink a gallon of water a day, and use the WeightWatchers principles of counting points," Oprah revealed (via PEOPLE).
She Still Swears by WeightWatchers

Oprah was a spokesperson, board member, and investor for WeightWatchers and still integrates the brand's point system into her meals.
"Weight Watchers is easier than any other program I've ever been on. It's a lifestyle, a way of eating and a way of living that's so freeing. You never feel like you are on a diet and it works. I believe others who are looking to make a change will be as inspired as I am about the stories we are sharing," Oprah previously said during a campaign about her experience with WeightWatchers' Beyond the Scale program.
She Has a Well-Rounded Routine

Above all, Oprah stays motivated and dedicated to a well-rounded wellness routine. GLP-1 medication is only part of the equation.
"I know everybody thought I was on it, but I worked so damn hard. I know that if I'm not also working out and vigilant about all the other things, it doesn't work for me," Oprah told PEOPLE.
