Just because you are trying to lose weight doesn’t mean you can’t eat out at your favorite restaurants – you just have to make smarter choices. Luisana Carrero is a nutrition coach and social media influencer who knows how to lose weight and keep it off from personal experience. In fact, she ended up losing 28 pounds in 4 months by cleaning up her diet and following some simple rules. A new post reveals how she dines out while still losing weight. “My 4 rules for eating out at restaurants that helped me lose 28 pounds,” she captioned the Instagram post.

Prioritize Protein

Her first rule? Prioritize protein. “I like to think about building my meal around protein, and I opt for foods like grilled chicken or steak. Ask to double the protein if possible to stay fuller longer,” she says in her post.

Ask for Dressings and Sauces on the Side

Also, beware of condiments. “Keep dressings and sauces on the side. Dressings and sauces are often calorie-dense, and restaurants tend to overdo it. Having them on the side gives me control over how much I use,” she says.

Pay Attention to Portion Size

Next, the size of your meal matters. “I control my portions,” she says. Restaurant portions can be huge. If that’s the case, I eat half of the meal and save the rest for later or share it with someone.”

Start with a Salad

She also recommends ordering a salad: " I start my meal with a side salad with dressing on the side. This gives me some volume and fiber and helps me feel full without adding many calories,” she says.

Be Mindful

Finally, her last tip is to be mindful. “I like to enjoy and try different foods, but that doesn’t mean I need to eat them all. If I don’t really love something, I know I don’t have to finish it!”

Here Is What She Stocks Up On at Costco, Starting with Protein

In another post she detailed everything she stops for at Costco, starting with protein.

  • Chicken Breast: “Fully cooked or raw,” she reveals.
  • Ready to Drink Protein Shakes: “Nurri or Fairlife - I like the ones with 30g of protein,” she says.
  • Steak Bites: “This is a new find, and they’re delicious,” she says in the post.

She Likes These Dairy/Egg Products

She also stocks up on dairy products, including eggs:

  • Egg whites
  • Eggs
  • Low Fat Cottage Cheese
  • Plain Non-Fat Greek Yogurt
  • Oikos Greek yogurt
  • Feta Cheese
  • Unsweetened Almond Milk.

Fruits and Veggies That She Gets

As for fruit and veggies, she keeps it simple:

  • Spring mix
  • Romaine lettuce
  • Spinach
  • Cherry Tomatoes
  • Peppers.

  • Grass Fed Butter: Also “cheaper at Costco.”

And, She Also Buys These Carbs

Her go-to carbs at Costco are:

  • Whole Grain bread: “Dave’s Killer is my fave,” she says.
  • Corn tortillas

  • Potatoes
  • Frozen Berries

Are you eating healthy most of the time but still not losing weight? The few times you dine out could be responsible for this. Coach Melissa, founder of Fit Mission Nutrition, specializes in helping women over 35 “lose a pant size in 6 weeks.” In a new social media post she discusses how making a few dining out faux pas can really derail your diet. “When I stopped making these restaurant mistakes, I started losing weight,” she writes in the post. “You can lose weight eating the foods you love & dining out!”

Mistake 1: Saving Up Calories for Dinner.

Do you overeat because you are starving? “If you go to a restaurant starving b/c you didn’t eat much all day, you will make less healthy choices once the smells & sights of food cloud your starving mind!” she says.

What To Do Instead

You can still eat out without doing this. “Instead, just eat normally, maybe a tad lighter on carbs or fat than usual, but go to the restaurant w/ your usual pre-meal appetite to make better choices!!” she says.

Mistake 2: Starting with a Cocktail

Are you drinking your calories before dinner? “If you start with a cocktail you’ll likely drink more due to initial thirst & take in more liquid calories,” she says.

What To Do Instead

Follow healthy lifestyle. To be healthy. Mature beautiful caucasian woman holding a glass of clean water, taking care of her health, the daily norm of waterHydrationShutterstock

“Instead always start w/drinking at least 1 big glass of water, then you’ll be hydrated & your thirst quenched FIRST...if you still want a drink you won’t drink as much & 1/2 the time you’ll skip it,” she says.

Mistake 3: Not Customizing Your Meal

“Not sharing preferences w/ restaurants to alter the meal to make healthier choices” is her third mistake. “If you just order right off the menu, restaurant food is much higher in calories due to things like added sauces, dressings, even butter added to the bun!” she writes.

What To Do Instead

“Instead, explain what modifications you want to reduce calories,” she suggests. “Ask for dressings & sauces on the side, or no butter on your bun or even veggies steamed vs sautéd. You’ll keep all the flavor for less calories!”

Mistake 4: Cleaning Your Plate

You don’t need to clean your plate. “Thinking b/c I paid for it, I have to eat it all or more than usual,” she says. “If you have this “I can’t waste it” mentality, remember you’re actually wasting it whether it goes in your body or the trash if you truly don’t need it!”

“Instead, STOP when 80% full & put your utensils down for a min or 2. Then, decide if you truly WANT more. If not, feel empowered that you ate what you needed & your body is healthier for stopping there,” she suggests. Are your bad habits preventing you from losing weight fast? Luisana Carrero is a nutrition coach and social media influencer who knows how to lose weight and keep it off from personal experience. In a recent social media post, she reveals that once she ditched six bad habits, the weight fell off. “6 things I stopped doing and I lost 28 pounds in 4 months and kept it off,” she writes over the Instagram video of herself at the gym. “These changes made ALL the difference for me and I hope they help you too.”

She Started Tracking Nutrition

Number one on her list? “I stopped guessing my nutrition and started tracking all my food every single day (including the weekends) to ensure I was in a deficit so I could get in and out. My goal wasn’t to stay in a deficit forever; I wanted to lose fat, reach my goal, and then transition to maintenance after,” she says in the video.

She Cut Down on Alcohol

She also stopped drinking her calories. “I cut back on drinking from 4-5 drinks every weekend to only on special occasions,” she reveals.

She Stopped Focusing on Calories

“I stopped focusing just on calories and started prioritizing my food quality. I transitioned from eating anything that ‘fit my macros’ to prioritizing lean proteins, complex carbs, and healthy fats - opting for real, high-quality foods. This kept me fuller longer and made the fat loss easier,” she said about her third habit.

She Stopped Being Sedentary

She also started moving more. “I stopped sitting most of the time (because I have a desk job) and made walking a non-negotiable: Every single day, I was hitting 10k steps. I did this by going on walks and using my treadmill at home.

She Stopped Going to the Gym Without a Plan

She also got more focused on exercise. “I stopped going to the gym without a plan and started following a workout program, lifting weights at least 4x per week,” she says.

She Stopped Spending Time with People Who Didn’t Support Her Goals

Finally, she changed up her friend group. “I stopped spending time with people that didn’t support my goals. I got tired of ‘friends’ making fun of me because I didn’t want to drink or eat what they were eating,” she says.

Also, She Recommends Eating Lots of Protein

In another post, she stresses the importance of eating high-protein foods. “As a general guideline, if your goal is to lose fat, aim to consume .8-1.2g of protein per lb of target body weight a day,” she says, recommending the following:

  • Spend 5 mins in the morning planning what you’ll eat.
  • Cook protein in bulk to quickly put meals together in less than 5 minutes.
  • Start your day with at least 30g protein, this helps control hunger levels, decrease cravings and it makes it easier to reach your protein goal.
  • Opt mainly for lean protein sources for higher volume, fewer calories, and more protein per serving.

Here Are Some Food Ideas

She recommends the following high protein foods in order to “140g of protein in a day and make fat loss easier.”

  • Non-Fat Plain Greek Yogurt: “I prefer plain Greek yogurt for lower calories and more protein. 200g Greek yogurt provides 22g of protein. I add stevia, peanut butter and frozen blueberries to mine, I eat that for dessert every night,” she says.
  • Chicken breast: “130g of cooked chicken breast will give you 40g of protein. I cook it in bulk and use it to make many different meals like grilled chicken sandwiches, tacos, salads, bowls,” she explains.
  • 96/4 Lean Ground Beef: “140g of cooked ground beef provides 40g of protein. I cook it in bulk and make burger patties or use it for my pasta,” she says.
  • Egg whites: “200g of liquid egg whites will give you only 108 calories and 22g of protein. You can add liquid egg whites to your full eggs for more protein and more volume. I mix a cup of egg whites with 2 full eggs, or use it for my french toast or my pancakes,” she explains.
  • Fat Free Cottage Cheese: “A serving of cottage cheese gives you 13g of protein. You can add it to your eggs, eat it with fruits or add it to your salads,” she adds.

And, You Can Lose Weight Eating Carbs

In another post she explains that she previously thought she “had to cut out carbs to lose weight,” she wrote. But that left me feeling hungry, craving them even more, tired and unable to focus. Until I learned this: You can lose weight while eating carbs. The key is to choose high-quality carbs and monitor your intake to stay in a calorie deficit.”

Top 5 Carbs

“Carbs are not essential for your body like fats and protein but they are our bodies preferred source of energy especially when you’re working out because they help you maximize your performance and recover from those workouts,” she continues. “Eat carbs as a part of a well-balanced diet and use them for energy, recovery, stress reduction, sleep and because you enjoy them. The amount to consume will vary for each individual based on your daily activity, stress levels, training intensity.” She goes on to list her “top 5 during a fat loss phase.”

  • Potatoes: “One of my favorite foods to cook in bulk. I make them in the air fryer and it only takes 25 mins. They are perfect to have on hand for a quick lunch, I like eating them with lean ground beef patties,” she says.
  • Fruits: “Especially berries and apples,” she writes. “Berries are full of fiber and antioxidants. I add frozen berries to Greek yogurt or smoothies. Apples are my go-to pre-workout snacks.”
  • Whole grain bread: “This is the one I use to make my high protein french toast,” she says.
  • Whole wheat tortillas: “Quick and easy option, love using whole wheat tortillas for homemade little pizzas or turkey wraps,” she explains.
  • Rice: “Another one I always cook in bulk. I use it to make my homemade chipotle bowls.”

Are your unhealthy habits preventing you from losing weight? According to one expert, you should take a look at yours. Fitness and nutrition coach Alexandra (@alexx.fitt) has amassed a following on TikTok and Instagram by sharing videos about losing 40 pounds. In a recent video, she reveals a few bad habits that she ditched to achieve weight loss success finally. “5 things I stopped doing to lose 40lbs,” she writes in the post.

She Stopped Following Trends

Just because it’s trendy doesn’t mean it will help you lose weight. “I stopped following trends,” Alex revealed. “These days, whether it’s running, Pilates Princess is all a trend. You can do it all. The secret is finding what works for you and sticking to it,” she says in her post.

She Stopped Snacking on “Everything in Sight”

Snacking isn’t always bad. However, it can be. “I stopped snacking on everything in sight. I used to be the person who would have a bite of everything. Little did I know it adds up quickly,” Alex writes.

She Stopped Being Lazy

Sedentary behavior won’t help you lose weight, says Alex. “I stopped being lazy. I simply began walking everywhere, taking the stairs instead of the elevator, etc,” she reveals.

She Stopped Setting Strict Goals

Are your diet and fitness goals too rigid? “I stopped having strict goals. I used to think I could lose 2 lbs a week consistently. But realistically, your weight will fluctuate, and setting weight goals puts way too much pressure on me,” she writes.

She Stopped Restricting Herself

Crash diets and avoiding food you actually like aren’t the key to losing weight, according to the influencer. “I stopped restricting myself and learned how to have portion control. Enjoy dessert in moderation,” she says.

She “Ate the Same Meals Every Single Day”

So, what did she eat to lose weight? “For 1-2 months, I ate the same meals every single day. Why? Because I was confused, I didn’t know what to eat or where to start, so I ate the same thing every day,” Alexandra confessed in another post.

Here Is Her Weight Loss Breakfast

On her weight loss journey, Alex had two breakfast options. One “would always be oatmeal with a scoop of protein powder and brandy butter,” she reveals. The second? Eggs with turkey bacon, veggies, and a bagel.

Here Is Her Weight Loss Lunch

You don’t have to stick to salads to lose weight, according to Alex. “I’d usually eat some type of wrap/ sandwich. I’d add mayo, turkey, ham, salami, cheese, and a bunch of veggies,” she writes.

Here Are Her Weight Loss Snacks

Alexandra had a few go-to snacks while losing weight. “I’d have a protein bar, protein shake, fruit, yogurt bowls, bagels with cream cheese, snack plates, and anything I was craving that day. I just made sure it was a decent portion,” she says.

Here Is Her Weight Loss Dinner

For dinner, while losing weight, she “would switch things up” and gravitated toward bowls. She would “add a bunch of lettuce, rice and either ground turkey, chicken, ground beef, any kind of protein and I’d add toppings like tortilla chips, Greek yogurt instead of sour cream, salsa, cheese ugh they’re so good and so filling,” she says. Indya Ago Lost 120 Pounds by Learning How to Have a “Balanced” Approach to Food

@indyaagos

Something I tell my clients when they first start coaching with me is that in order for these results to be sustainable we have to create balance. when I first started my weight loss journey, I used to restrict myself so much, I would demonize so many different kinds of foods that diet culture had brainwashed me, and into believing were the reason why I wasn’t able to reach the results I was looking for. Which just led me to cycles of binging, and creating a very unhealthy relationship between nutrition and my body. Through proper education on macronutrients, I was able to heal this relationship. And this is how I help my clients and maintain their goals as well. Education is power. WIEIAD DEETS: 💚 breakfast: protein, pancakes, egg, white scramble, turkey bacon 💚 snack: fruit, salad, and protein smoothie 💚 lunch: birria tacos + veg 💚 dinner: seafood boil Babe, if you’re ready to finally create a lifestyle transformation that’s sustainable while still eating all of the foods that you enjoy, I would love to work with you. She “Started Slow” and Learned “Self-Trust”

@indyaagos

If you wanna lose 80 pounds next year, I’m gonna tell you exactly how to do it! No gatekeeping the secret to success here. The number one thing that you need to get clear on, is the amount of time it’s going to take you to achieve your goal, the amount of effort required for you to get there, and, of course, why it’s so important to you. Setting a realistic expectation for yourself, while also simultaneously connecting with your why is the first step to create the foundation. You need to be successful through 2024. When you understand that this journey is going to take time, it’s going to require sacrifice, it’s going to require you stepping so far out of your comfort zone, that you may be paralyzed by fear at times. But being okay with the discomfort. Surrendering to knowing that in those moments of uncertainty, in those moments of insecurity, and discomfort, are facilitating growth. Connecting with knowing that, allowing yourself to grow, is what is going to help you reach your goals. And not only reach your goals, sustain those achievements. Baby, 2024 can be your year, and the first thing that you need to do, is get your mindset right. Know why you’re on this journey, know what you need to do to get from point A to point B, and set yourself up for success. Start building the mindset, habits, and routines into your daily life now in order to be successful 2024. and if you’re ready to take the next step, you’re ready to invest in yourself. I’m now accepting applications for January. The link is in my bio let’s get to work!🤘🏽 #weightlosstransformation #weightlosstips #weightlossjourney #weightlossgoals #weightlosscoach #weightlosshelp #weightlosschallenge #fatlosstips #fatlossjourney #nutritiontips #mindsetcoach #newyearsresolution #newyearnewme #nutritioncoach #fitnesscoach

In another video, Indya reveals another tactic that helped her lose so much weight. “You got to start slow,” she says. “If you approach this from an all or nothing mentality, you are only setting yourself up for failure. A big part of this journey is regaining self-trust. You are so used to letting yourself down. The way that you build trust with yourself again is by following through with the promises that you've made to yourself.”

And Took a Deep Dive Into Her Failed Attempts at Weight Loss

Another thing she did is “going to require you to dig deep,” she says. “We need to figure out what your main excuses or your repeated point of failure chances are. You've been stuck in the same exact cycle, repeating the same narratives as to why you haven't been able to be successful in the past. If your story is that you never have any time, then we need to figure out why you're not prioritizing making time. People make time for what's important to them. If the story is that you are overwhelmed and you have no idea where to start, then it is time to reach out for help so that you have a plan of action as well as guidance.”

Raven Norwood Lost 165 Pounds By Cutting Processed Foods From Her Diet

Raven_Norwood_rowwithraven1rowwithraven/Instagram

Raven Norwood, 28, of Huntington Beach, California, started her weight loss journey at 212 pounds and has managed to drop down to 155 pounds, losing 165 pounds in two years. In an interview with Body Network, she explains that she used to eat food containing several dyes, fast food, and packaged food with GMOs, too much MSG, and preservatives. While she didn’t eliminate “any specific food groups because balance is the key to longevity,” she did cut the above from her diet and started cooking her own meals “as much as possible.” Creating healthy relationships with all food groups is so important when it comes to keeping the weight off, she stresses. “Balance is key, so, if I want a cookie here and there, I eat the cookie… no biggie!”

She Also Amped Up Her Water Intake

Raven_Norwood_rowwithraven2raven.grl/Instagram

Raven adds that “lots of water” keeps her hydrated and feeling full. According to the Mayo Clinic, hydration is important for a variety of reasons. Water helps get rid of waste through urination, perspiration, and bowel movements, keeps your temperature normal, lubricates and cushions joints, and helps protect sensitive tissues.

She Fell in Love with a Boutique Fitness Method

Raven_Norwood_rowwithraven4raven.grl/Instagram

Raven also encourages finding a fitness form that you love. She discovered rowing at her local Row House. “I love how boutique and specialized gyms are getting more recognition! When I first found Row House, I had never seen a gym dedicated to rowing,” she says. “And on top of that you get floorwork exercises, group fitness and the wonderful community that comes along with it! I think a lot of people would benefit from boutique gyms.”

She Took Progress Pictures

Raven_Norwood_rowwithraven6raven.grl/Instagram

Progress photos were also an important part of Raven’s weight loss journey. “Sometimes your mind will play tricks on you, and make you feel like you haven’t done as much as you have,” she says. If she feels discouraged, she will look at her “Day 1” photo and it will provide instant motivation. “Take photos because your mind will play tricks on you, but those photos won’t,” she says.

Dils Less Lost 50 Pounds by Not Drinking Coffee on an Empty Stomach

Dils Lee (@dilshealth) lost 50 pounds by making a few simple lifestyle habit changes, which not only aided in weight loss, but were a game-changer in her overall health, especially with her inflammation and hormonal imbalance. One of the first changes that she made? “I stopped drinking coffee on an empty stomach and started making my breakfast look like this,” she said. “Drinking coffee on an empty stomach can lead to bloating, nausea, and anxiety, and it can also raise your cortisol levels, which can negatively impact ovulation weight and hormonal imbalances.”

She Also Switched From HIIT to Low Intensity Workouts

You don’t have to do HIIT workouts to lose weight. The second change that she made “was stopping all high intensity training while I was losing weight,” she said. “I found that I harbored a lot of inflammation in my face, arms, body, stomach, and legs everywhere.” Instead, she opted for lower intensity training. “Basically, by switching to lower intensity workouts, I've found that my waist has drastically come in. My stomach is much more flat, and I'm actually building a lot of tone and muscle in my arms and legs,” she says.

And, She Prioritized Sleep

“The fourth change that I made is that I introduced a healthy sleep routine,” Dils reveals. “My routine includes using supplements like magnesium and then not using my phone an hour before bed. Prioritizing sleep will help your body recover after physical activity. It'll also help with hormone regulation, metabolic regulation, stress and emotional wellbeing.” What are the health benefits of sleep? According to the Sleep Foundation, getting enough z’s is a mood booster, promotes heart health, regulates blood sugar, improves mental function, restores your immune system, helps relieve stress, and aids in weight loss.

He does “harder” push ups, he says. “It's not enough to just do as many as you can and do them fast. Alexandra Lost 40 Pounds by Eating the Same Meals Every Day

Online fitness coach Alexandra (@alexx.fitt) personally lost 40 pounds by eating the same meals daily. “For 1-2 months I ate the same meals every single day why? Because I was confused I didn’t know what to eat or where to start so I ate the same thing everyday,” Alexandra confesses in the caption of her video.

She Also Walks 10,000 Steps a Day

In another video she reveals that walking 10,000 steps a day was also key. “I weigh around 150lbs so walking 10k steps burns an extra 300-400 calories a day without spending hours on the stair master,” says Alexandra. “Walking can be done anywhere you don’t have to get fancy gym clothes you can literally walk in your pjs,” she adds. And, it helps regulate hunger. “Walking is not an extremely difficult exercise and it can help regulate your appetite hormones and reduce feelings of hunger,” she says.

David Tuckfield Lost 60 Pounds EMS Workouts

David_Tuckfield7David Tuckfield

David Tuckfield, 61, dropped 60 pounds and reduced his body fat by 23 percent in 16 months by incorporating electro muscle stimulation (EMS) workouts into his routine, which he discovered at BODY20. “I was very skeptical when I first tried the EMS workouts. I was shocked after my demo workout how much I felt a difference,” he told Body Network. “For me, the amazing thing about the EMS workouts to me is that I can actually feel or sense my muscles. That was something that I had never experienced. At first I could feel them only during the workouts, but now when I exert myself I can discern which muscles are engaged. I don’t have huge or impressive muscles, but that I am more in-tune with the muscles I have. It is a good feeling to feel your muscles engage when you do an activity.” Another “great thing” about the workout “is that you really get a full workout (or better) in 20 minutes,” he says.

He Also Set Long-Term Goals

David_Tuckfield5David Tuckfield

He also started looking at weight loss as a long-term goal. “Don’t think short term. Think of it as a very long journey,” he suggests. “You will plateau, and you should just be comfortable with that. If you don’t stress out about the plateaus, you will eventually work through them.” Daily weigh-ins also helped him. “If you’ve gained weight, ask yourself what you did yesterday that would have made you gain weight. Usually the answer is obvious,” he says.

Joy Maria (@therealjoyymaria/video) is a weight loss influencer and mother who lost 70 pounds in less than 11 months with the help of, wait for it, “Hot girl walks,” she reveals in a video. “Walking is a thousand percent, the most underrated way to lose weight,” she adds, “and one of my favorite things to do is walk.” She started walking to her errands, walking to and from workouts, and whenever else she could get steps in.

She Also Followed a Meal Plan

“If somebody is telling you that you can lose weight without being in a calorie deficit run because they're lying,” she adds, calling it “the most important step” to losing weight. “I know you guys have heard the saying, you cannot outrun a bad diet, and it's so true. Google, TDEE calculator. From there, put in your information. I'm gonna tell you exactly how many calories you need to eat. I ate about 1600 to 1800 calories daily, just depending on my activity level for the day. If I did two workouts that day, I would eat closer to 1800. If I had a more sedentary day, I would eat closer to 1500 to 1600.” She also followed a meal plan. “I have a seven day meal plan available at the top of my profile. It just makes it really easy when you're going to a grocery shop, when you're first starting out, when things are structured, it's gonna make it a lot easier to follow and just to stay consistent, not skipping breakfast, especially if we're exercising.”

Gen Cohen, CNC, lost 50 pounds by doing a few different workouts, including the 12-3-30.

She said that “rather than subscribing to some crazy fitness routine, I'd commit to lifting weights three maximum four times per week and prioritize getting a 60 minute walk in per day,” in a video. “You can go to the gym and do 12-3-30. You can take your dog for a walk. You can get a walking pad and put it under your desk. I don't care how, just 60 minutes of walking.”

Do you want to lose weight without having to count calories? Try intuitive eating, urges one expert. Jannina Emilia is an intuitive healthy habit expert and coach who lost 22 pounds without calorie counting. In a new post, she reveals exactly how she did it. “Here’s what it actually takes to lose fat without tracking calories from a woman who did 7 years of research, lost 10kg (22lbs) unnecessary weight, never needs to diet again,” she wrote across the Instagram video.

It’s Possible to Lose Weight Without Calculating Anything

She starts by discussing “the science-backed truth” about intuitive eating. “All the time people come to me saying ‘if I just ate freely what I wanted, I would be the size of a tank’ (literally with those words),” she writes. “This brings us to the TRUTH: It is possible to lose that hindering body fat that bothers you (yup, been there too, sis!) while leaving all calculations and meal plans behind. Choosing to embody healthy eating this way has completely transformed my body & mind (and for a reason!!!)” she continues.

Focus on the Type and Amount of Food You Eat

Number one? “Embody the very basics of the correlation between food and body composition,” she writes. “The science: The type AND amount of food we eat have the biggest impact on our body composition (remember your weight is not just weight: it’s water, fat, muscle etc. that’s why using a scale to check your weight is a horrible measure)”

Focus on Quality Nutrition 80 Percent of the Time

Next, focus on quality nutrition 80% of the time. “The science: Providing volume and satiety with fewer (while still enough) calories naturally,” she explains.

Eat Food You Actually Like

You don’t need to eat food just because it’s healthy. “Eat all your fav foods daily,” she recommends. “The science: A balanced, realistic approach to eating that is sustainable for long term without extremes.”

Follow Hunger Cues

Next, listen to your body. “Give your body enough break from eating so that the natural cues appear, then act on those cues,” she writes. “The science: Following your body’s physiological signals is the most natural way to eat (HIII INTUITIVE EATING that’s packed with freedom😍).”

Eat Nutrient Dense Foods

She also suggests focusing on foods that will fill you up. “Fall in love with nutrient dense foods,” she writes. “The science: Our brains have the ability to reorganize and form new neural connections in response to experience and learning: you can rewire your brain to associate nourishing foods with pleasure, making it easier to choose them regularly.” And if you enjoyed this article, don't miss I Hit 60 and These 15 Anti-Aging Foods Keep Me Fit and Feeling 20 Years Younger.

Are you trying to lose weight and drop clothing sizes but unsure what to do? Keep it simple, says one woman who has lost a significant amount of weight. Gina Frattini is a weight loss warrior and social media influencer who regularly shares about her dramatic transformation that unfolded over a period of just over a year. In a new social media post, she reveals some of the core habits responsible for her 15-month glow-up. “THE NON NEGOTIABLE FIVE,” she writes. “5 things I did to help aid in weight loss from home!”

She Amped Up Her Protein Intake

The first thing she did was amp up her protein intake. “Minimum 30g protein 3x a day is always my goal! Ensure you are putting real protein before processed proteins. You can’t expect to lose weight and tone up when you’re eating less than a good chunk of protein daily or if you aren’t eating at all. Stop skipping meals! If you’re serious about weight loss and muscle build- this is non-negotiable,” she writes.

She Woke Up Earlier

She also started getting up earlier. “Before work, before kids, before other responsibilities. 5-530am is the quietest time to get in a weighted walk for me or a run on the treadmill. Make a habit of getting up early. Make it a habit to move your body during that time. I love walking weighted!” she writes.

She Lifted Heavy Weights

Strength training was also part of her approach. “Lift as heavy as you can while challenging yourself, every time! Listen, you will not get bulky. You will get toned. You need to lift 3x a week. Start light, start building consistency and do full body ( I have examples in my guide!) but keep at it and increase weights gradually!” she suggests.

She Hydrates

She also made sure to drink water. “Ensure you are properly hydrated. I drink half my body weight in ounces of water! Example 120 lbs, I stick with 60 ounces of water daily! I love having electrolytes and colostrum in my cup daily! I can immediately tell when I haven’t hit my water intake for the day,” she says.

She Sleeps

She also gets enough sleep, 8-10 hours a night. “Yup, skip the Netflix and go to bed earlier so you can wake up earlier and hit the 2nd one. Proper sleep is crucial for recovery, fat burn, muscle gain and proper health. You have to get enough sleep!” she says.

“Nothing happens overnight except sleep, so stick with the plan not your mood. Good things take time and great things take longer. Try these 5 things the next 6-12 weeks and you’ll feel like a completely different person. Not only will you start to notice your mood and mind shift, but you’ll see your body changing too,” she concludes.

She Is a Big Advocate of Weighted Vests

In another post, she elaborates on walking with a weighted vest. “The real MVP to my 50 + pound weight loss journey and how I started it all. See other reels for my 2023 body,” she says about it. “I started over a year ago.”

Here Is Her Routine

Everyone's talking about GLP-1 medications like Ozempic, Wegovy, and Mounjaro—and for good reason. These breakthrough treatments have helped countless people achieve significant weight loss. But to get the best results, you need to use them correctly. Dr. Katrina Mattingly, a Board Certified Obesity Medicine Specialist at Options Medical Weight Loss, shares the most common pitfalls to avoid.

1. Skipping Proper Medical Consultation

"It's crucial to discuss your medical history, potential contraindications, and any concerns you may have to ensure the medication is appropriate for you," says Dr. Mattingly. Before starting any GLP-1 medication, a thorough consultation with a healthcare provider is essential. Being completely transparent about your health background helps identify potential risks and ensures the treatment is safe for you.RELATED:What Happens to Your Body When You Stop Taking Ozempic

2. Ignoring Dosage Instructions

Following the prescribed dosing schedule is non-negotiable. "Do not ignore or deviate from the prescribed dosing instructions. What happens when you do? You end up nauseated, with acid reflux, and your bowels are gurgling and acting up," Dr. Mattingly warns. Improper dosing can lead to unnecessary side effects and discomfort that might make the treatment experience unpleasant.

3. Neglecting Healthy Lifestyle Habits

"Remember, the medication works best when combined with a balanced diet and regular physical movement," emphasizes Dr. Mattingly. GLP-1 medications aren't magic pills—they're tools that work alongside healthy habits. According to Dr. Mattingly, "Only relying on the medication to lose weight and doing nothing else is not going to get you optimal results, especially if you're eating greasy or sugary foods as your main source of sustenance."

4. Overlooking Side Effects

Be proactive about potential side effects. "Be aware of common side effects, such as nausea or gastrointestinal discomfort, and communicate any concerns to your medical provider promptly," Dr. Mattingly advises. Don't suffer in silence—your provider can offer solutions. "We can give you tips on supportive care, nutrition, or we can even call in a prescription to help get you through those unpleasant but temporary side effects," says Dr. Mattingly.RELATED:5 Foods That Maximize Weight Loss on GLP-1 Medicines, According to Coach

5. Skipping Follow-up Appointments

Consistent monitoring is key to long-term success. "Regular check-ins allow your medical provider to monitor your progress, address any concerns or challenges, and make any necessary adjustments if needed," explains Dr. Mattingly. These appointments help optimize your treatment and ensure you stay on track with your weight loss goals.

Dr. Mattingly concludes with encouragement: "We're here to help you along the way, and we know that we've seen great, great success on people with these GLP-1 medications, and you can definitely be one of them." By avoiding these common mistakes, you'll be well-positioned to achieve the best possible results from your GLP-1 medication.

Do you want to lose more weight? According to an expert, there are ways to accelerate the process while in a calorie deficit. Brooke Ralphs is an online fitness and nutrition coach (CPT and CNC) who helps her clients burn fat and build muscle sustainably. In a recent post, she shares her expert tips on how to lose weight fast. “I went from 225 pounds to 135 pounds and couldn’t have done it without these calorie deficit tips,” she writes.

Plan Your Menu

Her first tip is to plan your menu. “Know what you're going to eat during your day. It helps you to look forward to it. Pre tracking changed everything for me because I was so excited to eat what I had planned,” she writes.

Eat Less Isn’t Always Better

Next, “less isn't better,” she points out. “So don't just try to eat as little as possible or even go under a calorie goal. Don't let your brain think you're just losing weight because you're eating less and less is the answer because less won't always be the answer,” she says. Instead “tell your brain you're eating the MOST while still losing weight.”

Eat Protein, Carbs, and Fat

It’s not just about the numbers but also what you are eating. “Knowing what your deficit calories are made up of will help you feel satiated, energetic and well balanced while in your deficit so you're not starving. Protein carbs and fat HELP YOU IN A DEFICIT,” she writes.

Know When You Are Going to Eat

Next, “know WHEN you're going to eat so you don't wait too long, start to be starving, see red and throw your plans out the window,” she says. “Knowing what and WHEN will help you stick to a plan you can be consistent with rather than flying by the seat of your pants.”

Eat to Fuel Workouts

Also, “eat to fuel your workouts WHILE being in a deficit so your main focus is still building a life, a physique, etc,” she says. What shouldn’t be your focus? "Losing one,” she says.

Cook More at Home

Just because you aren’t eating out, doesn’t mean your diet has to be boring. “Cook more at home but cook things you're excited about and make a list of things you cook and love and things you don't so you can build a personalized macro friendly cookbook,” she says.

Don’t Drink Your Calories

Don’t drink your calories on a daily basis. “Make liquid calories a special occasion not something you do often. What you do most of the time compounds over time not what you do not often,” she suggests.

Watch Out for “Healthy” But High Calorie Foods

Next, watch out for "healthy but high calorie foods," she suggests. “Meaning if you're not tracking or don't know you could be constantly grabbing food that offers healthy benefits but keeps you at maintenance calories (or even a surplus!)”

Don’t Eat Too Fast

Don’t eat too fast. “Slow down when eating and limit distractions. Don't eat while talking to someone, if you have to pee 😂 etc,” she says. “It'll make you feel like you missed the experience!”

Don’t Get Rid of Food Until You’re at Goal Weight

Her final tip? “Don't get rid of any food ‘until you're at goal weight. Plan it in so you know how to eat when you're at your goal weight. Don't use food as a reward, use it as everyday enjoyment and fuel!” she says.
