I Lost Inches From My Waist on Ozempic, and Here Are 15 Weight Loss Tips I Have for You

One woman details everything she has learned on her weight loss journey.

Isabella_Roland_HellaBella9

Isabella Roland (@HellaBella) is a weight loss warrior and social media influencer who regularly vlogs about her experience on Ozempic. In a recent viral video, she opens up about everything she has learned about weight loss on the drug. “I have been taking Ozempic for a little over six months at this point, and it helps me with my appetite, it helps me with my hunger cues and fullness signals, and it's been a great tool for me,” she says in the clip. In the video, she discusses the types of meals she eats and what she has learned about eating to lose weight in general.

Tracking Calories Is Key

Her first pointer has to do with calorie counting. “For me, tracking calories is the best way for me to monitor how much food I'm eating,” she says in the video.

Consume Lots of Protein

“I also find it helpful just to kind of try and get in enough protein on the daily,” she says. “One of the ways that I do that is to have a protein shake per day pretty well. I usually have about 30 grams of protein through a premier protein shake a day.”

Seltzer Water Curbs Hunger

“Some of the other things that I frequently have are seltzer waters,” she says. “That's something that I drink throughout the day.”

Coffee with Protein

“I usually only limit myself to two cups of coffee per day because otherwise I am like, you know, jittery, and I get anxious. So I try to minimize the amount of caffeine that I'm having,” she says. She also adds Pure Protein to her cup. “I've been using about one-third to one-half of these per cup of coffee. And then I drink two cups of coffee a day. So I mean, I usually get about 30 grams of protein from these per day,” she says.

She Eats Boring Food

Also, maintaining her diet isn’t very exciting. “In addition to that, I just eat a lot of boring food like chicken, cheese, eggs, and things like that,” she says.

Food Doesn’t Give Her the “Dopamine” That It Used To

Young beautiful woman eating juicy watermelon on the beach.Shutterstock

“If you look at the types of meals that I'm having, one of the things that I've noticed about eating is that it just does not have that same magical feeling that it used to have. So I'm not as concerned about food. Food does not give me the same dopamine that it used to. And so, unfortunately, I've lost some of the joy of eating, but I also, it's, it's a pro and a con at the same time,” she says.

She Eats According to Mood

“What I eat changes based on my mood,” she says. It is also based on how busy she is and what she has going on.

She Eats Frozen Dinners

“I'll often have frozen dinners,” she says. “I sometimes have Lean Cuisines and stuff like that.”

She Meal Preps

“I really prefer to just have freshly cooked meat in the fridge. And so I can meal prep with that on Sunday, and then I can eat that throughout the week,” she adds. She gravitates toward the “crockpot type” of meals. “I made all of this chicken here in the air fryer, and I'm just gonna put that up in some bags, and then I'll use that throughout the week to make different things,” she says.

She Bases Breakfast Off Hunger Cues

“Breakfast for me usually just depends on how hungry I am,” she says. When she is super hungry, she will have oatmeal or Greek yogurt with granola. If she isn’t as hungry, she might have a Light and Fit protein shake. “They're 10 grams of protein, and they're only 80 calories,” she says.

She Eats Smaller Portions

“I just wanna give that tip to you. If you are starting out, you might want to put what you normally put on a plate and then plan on eating 60% of that or 50% of that even. Because it's just your stomach that just can't handle food like it was, it stays in your system longer, and it's definitely more prone to making you upset if you eat too much.”

If She Eats Fast Food, She Skips the Sides

JChick-fil-a,Fast,Food,restaurant,chicken,burgerShutterstock

She still eats fast food but sticks to ordering one item. “I went by Chick-fil-A and got me a spicy chicken sandwich and some ketchup. This is 490 calories, and I think the ketchup is 25 calories. So I do not limit myself to not going to fast food, but I will say when I get fast food, instead of going to get the whole meal, like the sandwich, the side, and the drink, I usually just get the sandwich because it fills me up and I don't wind up having a lot of leftovers. And honestly, it cuts the calories pretty much in half if you don't wind up getting a side,” she says, adding that she only gets fast food once a week.

Start Slow in Your Changes

“Just remember to start slowly with the changes that you're making because the best way to make changes sustainable is to change slowly over time. If you change everything all at once, you're going to have a very hard time staying successful,” she says. “In order to make a change, you have to sort of moderate what you're doing. You have to try. You have to have effort involved. And so it's hard to put all your effort into something all at once.”

Habit Stacking is Key

“I'm going to count calories this week, and next week, I'm going to limit the amount of calories I have. Then, the week after that, I'm going to try to count calories, limit the amount of calories, and aim for a hundred grams of protein per day. So just think about it in terms of that,” she says.

Finally, Be Patient

“If you're not losing weight super quick, it's not something to get discouraged about. My weight loss has honestly been really slow compared to other people's, and at times, it made me feel self-conscious or just like I'm not doing enough,” she says. “But I know in reality that I've focused on this extensively. And so I think that the results that I'm finally starting to see are like a culmination of everything that I've been doing.” And if you enjoyed this article, don't miss 20 Incredible Ozempic Success Stories of All Time.

“And also being insulin resistant, having such a difficult time losing weight, which is something that I never thought I would be able to get past,” she says. “I thought I was just gonna have to live with the fact that I couldn't lose weight, that it was difficult for me to lose weight, that I could look at a cookie and gain weight.”

In the comments, Katherine was asked how she got a prescription for the drug. “When I did my labs, my A1C was right under being diabetic, and due to having PCOS, they approved it!” she wrote.

Considering Ozempic or similar medications for weight loss? You're not alone. As expensive weight loss drugs dominate headlines, many people are searching for natural alternatives that won't strain their wallets or cause severe side effects.

Dr. Tony Hampton, a board-certified obesity physician with over 25 years of experience specializing in weight management and diabetes care, has helped thousands of patients achieve sustainable weight loss. "As an obesity doctor, I've seen the struggle people face in trying to lose weight. It's real and it's frustrating," he shares. Today, he reveals six natural methods that can help you achieve your weight loss goals by working with your body's own mechanisms.

The Truth About GLP-1 Medications

Ozempic semaglutide injection pens. Ozempic is a medication for obesityShutterstock

While GLP-1 drugs like Ozempic can help with weight loss, they come with significant risks that are often downplayed, Dr. Hampton explains in his post. These medications can cause serious side effects, including pancreatitis, thyroid cancer, and gastric paralysis. "I've even had patients coincidentally end up with bowel obstruction shortly after starting these drugs," he warns. Even more concerning, "up to 50% of weight loss comes from muscle, not fat, which is dangerous for your long-term health."

Understanding How Weight Loss Medications Work

Shutterstock

"GLP-1 drugs mimic the hormone glucagon-like peptide-1," Dr. Hampton explains. "It works by reducing appetite by affecting the satiety centers in the brain, slows gastric emptying, keeping you feeling full longer, and improves insulin sensitivity." Understanding these mechanisms helps identify natural alternatives that work similarly.

RELATED:20 Things You Need to Know About Ozempic and Weight Loss

Method 1: The Ketogenic Approach

"The ketogenic diet is one of the most powerful tools for weight loss because it naturally mimics many effects of GLP-1 drugs," says Dr. Hampton. It suppresses appetite by stabilizing blood sugar and promotes ketone production, which directly signals the brain to reduce hunger. Unlike medications, keto preserves muscle mass while promoting fat loss.

Method 2: Strategic Fasting

Dr. Hampton recommends intermittent fasting as another effective approach. "Fasting leads to appetite regulation by lowering ghrelin, the hunger hormone, while increasing satiety hormones like leptin," he explains. It naturally slows digestion and promotes cellular cleanup through autophagy, enhancing metabolic health.

Method 3: The Protein-First Strategy

For those preferring simplicity, Dr. Hampton advocates for a carnivore diet approach. "Like a lion who only eats once or twice a week, carnivores simply don't need to eat as often," he notes. This approach focuses on nutrient-dense animal foods, reduces inflammation, and naturally suppresses appetite while stabilizing blood sugar.

Method 4: Targeted Exercise

Unlike GLP-1 drugs that can cause muscle loss, exercise, particularly strength training, builds and maintains lean muscle mass. "The more muscle you get from exercises, the higher your metabolic rate," Dr. Hampton emphasizes. This approach enhances your body's ability to use glucose and improves insulin sensitivity naturally.

Method 5: The SPC Method

Dr. Hampton introduces the Satiety Per Calorie (SPC) method, backed by data from over 67,000 logged meals. "Users are eating nearly half as many calories as those consuming low SPC foods," he explains. This approach yields weight loss results without the nausea, muscle loss, or financial strain associated with medications.

Method 6: Strategic Supplementation

Apple Cider VinegarShutterstock

While emphasizing diet first, Dr. Hampton recommends specific supplements that support natural weight loss:

Berberine: "Nature's metformin" for improving insulin sensitivity.

Apple cider vinegar: For slowing digestion and stabilizing blood sugar.

Gymnema sylvestre: "The sugar destroyer" for reducing cravings.

5-hydroxytryptophan: For natural appetite control.

The Foundation: Sleep and Stress Management

"Poor sleep and chronic stress disrupt hunger hormones and make weight loss harder," Dr. Hampton explains. Prioritizing these foundational elements can have similar appetite-regulating effects as GLP-1 drugs, without the side effects or costs.

Your Path to Sustainable Weight Loss[

Woman,,Balance,Weight,Scale,health,scalesShutterstock

"This isn't about shaming anyone for using GLP-1 drugs," Dr. Hampton emphasizes. "If you've tried everything and feel these medications are the last resort, I totally understand. But before you make that decision, consider these alternatives." These natural methods work by addressing the root causes of weight gain - insulin resistance, inflammation, and hormone imbalances - rather than just treating symptoms. While weight loss isn't easy, sustainable results are possible without expensive medications. And if you enjoyed this article, don't miss20 Incredible Ozempic Success Stories of All Time.

Are you thinking about using Ozempic or another weight loss drug? Before you schedule an appointment with an MD or telemedicine doctor, educating yourself about the drug will give you a better idea of whether or not it’s worth it. Here is everything you need to know about Ozempic—how it works and its benefits for weight loss, how much it costs, and the potential side effects.

How Ozempic Works

How exactly do weight loss drugs help you lose weight? “Ozempic enhances the release and action of insulin throughout the body, which helps with fat loss,” explains Dr. Sue Decotiis, MD, NYC weight-loss doctor.

Ozempic Shuts Down Your Appetite, and You Feel Full Faster

Woman,Feeling,Hungry,Looking,For,Something,To,Eat,In,AmusementShutterstock

“Weight loss drugs also have a tremendous effect on satiety, shutting down appetite so the patient feels very full after eating much less food,” she explains. “Ozempic acts on receptors in the gut and brain that regulate appetite.”

It Also Resets Your Rate for Fat Burning

Ozempic also targets the centers in the brain that resets a person’s set rate for fat, Dr. Decotiis says. “When your set rate is higher for fat, you tend to hold more weight. When people go on Ozempic it resets the amount of weight that your body wants to hold onto.”

It Improves Insulin Function

The main way Ozempic works is changing the way insulin works, explains Dr. Decotiis. “When insulin works well, you can burn fat, when it doesn’t you gain weight,” she says.

It Helps Regulate Hormones

Portrait of stressed young housewife in modern kitchenShutterstock

“It helps regulate people’s hormones that have changed due to aging, stress, etc., so that they can lose weight,” she continues. “When people age their hormones change and it’s harder for them to lose weight. Ozempic stimulate the hormones needed in the body for fat loss.”

It Can Help with Self-Esteem and Rarely Leads to Depression

Relaxed serene pretty young woman feel fatigue lounge on comfortable sofa hands behind head rest at home, happy calm lady dream enjoy wellbeing breathing fresh air in cozy home modern living roomShutterstock

Dr. Decotiiis has seen a lot of positive effects on personality in her practice. “When people lose weight, they have better self-esteem, and they feel more confident in their own skin,” she says. “I have people who were using sedatives for anxiety or depression, and then when they took these drugs, they felt better and didn’t need them as much. My patient who had ADHD felt they had better focus and concentration. I have never had anyone who’s gone into depression or has felt worse after taking these drugs. My advice is to know who the patient is and supervise them accordingly.”

Ozempic Is Actually Only Approved for Those with Type 2 Diabetes

According to the National Library of Medicine Ozempic is approved to control blood sugar levels in adults with type 2 diabetes when other medications do not control the sugar levels well enough.

It Can Also Help with Heart Health

It is also used to reduce the risk of a stroke, heart attack, or death in adults who have type 2 diabetes along with heart and blood vessel disease. “It is not used to treat type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis,” they say.

Wegovy Is Approved for Weight Loss

“Semaglutide injection (Wegovy) is used to reduce the risk of a stroke, heart attack, or death in adults who are overweight or obese along with heart and blood vessel disease,” they say, adding that “used along with an individualized low-calorie, low-fat diet and exercise program” it can help with weight loss “in obese adults or overweight adults who may also have high blood pressure, diabetes, or high cholesterol” and in obese children 12 years of age or older.

It Comes in a Prefilled Pen

You may change the day of the week that you use semaglutide as long as it has been 2 or more days (48 or more hours) since you used your last dose,” they say.

What Is Ozempic?

Pen,Injection,Semaglutide,Ozempic, diabetes, medicine, medication, diet, weight, lossShutterstock

Dr. Grand explains that Ozempic is the brand name for a medicine called Semaglutide. “It's a once-weekly subcutaneous injectable medication, uh, meaning that the medicine gets injected into the skin, usually in the upper arm, the thigh, or the abdomen,” she says.

It’s Primarily Used to Treat Type 2 Diabetes

“It's primarily used to treat type two diabetes. That's what it was FDA approved for initially in 2017,” she continues. “Ozempic or semaglutide belongs to a class of medications called GLP-1 receptor agonists. GLP-1 is basically a hormone that's produced by the GI tract. And so the GLP one receptor agonists essentially work on these GLP-1 receptors.”

Where Are GLP-1 Receptor Located?

Woman, success and outdoor with happiness for fitness, exercise or wellness as achievement. Girl, celebration and portrait in nature with energy or motivation for health, workout or marathon trainingShutterstock

“GLP-1 receptors are located throughout the body, but there are three main areas that we'll talk about today,” Dr. Grand continues. “The first is the pancreas which leads to the release of insulin. Insulin then promotes the absorption of glucose into tissues to be used for energy or to be used as a form of energy storage. And this ultimately causes a decrease in blood glucose levels. The second is the brain, which decreases appetite by reducing the feeling of hunger. And the third is the GI tract, which slows down the movement of food and thus makes us feel fuller.”

What Is the Correct Dosage and How Much Does It Cost?

“In terms of dosing, we generally start with semaglutide at 0.25 milligrams weekly, and it can gradually be increased to a maximum of two milligrams as tolerated. The cost without insurance can be up to about $1,200 a month,” she says.

“There is another form of semaglutide called Wegovy, and this is basically semaglutide in a higher dose,” she says.“This is the medication that's actually FDA-approved for weight loss, but it is specifically approved for people either with obesity or who are overweight with at least one weight-related condition. These include conditions like high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and heart disease.”

Both Ozempic and Semaglutide Reduce Weight

ozempic_wegovy-split1Shutterstock

So, what is ozempic or semaglutide used for? “It was initially meant for the treatment of type two diabetes to help decrease blood sugar by augmenting the release of insulin. But people found that there was also this impact on weight loss, and it's been studied and it has been shown to reduce weight,” she says.

However, to Maintain the Weight Loss, You Might Have to Stay on Them

GDANSK, POLAND - MAY 2022: obese fat man preparing Semaglutide Ozempic injection control blood sugar levelsShutterstock

There is one major con about using drugs for weight loss. “They've also found that people generally need to stay on Ozempic in order to maintain the weight loss,” she says.

Risks and Side Effects

“In terms of risks or side effects, the most common side effects that we typically see are nausea, vomiting, constipation, and sometimes diarrhea. We also see dizziness, increased heart rate, headaches, reflux, and even sometimes acute kidney injury, which is thought to be due to dehydration from all of the nausea and vomiting that ozempic can induce. It's also not recommended for people who have certain gastrointestinal tract diseases like inflammatory bowel disease, things like Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis,” she says.

There Is Also a Cancer Risk

Asian woman lying sick in hospital.Shutterstock

“There's also a black box warning for a specific type of thyroid cancer,” she says.”This comes from studies that were done in rodent models that showed growth of the specific type of thyroid tumor. Acute pancreatitis, which is a condition where the pancreas becomes quite inflamed, has also been noted in this class of medications. And it's really important to note that pancreatitis can be severe and can be fatal. It's unclear what this mechanism is for this possible complication. It's also unclear whether or not this has any implications for pancreatic cancer in the long run. But regardless if you have a history of pancreatitis or if you develop pancreatitis while on the medication, you should stop it, and you should never take it again.”

Significant Weight Loss with the Drugs Can Change the Way Your Face Looks

“Significant weight loss with drugs like ozempic and Wegovy can change the way our faces look,” they add. “We have many fat compartments throughout our face, and these compartments are affected by anything that leads to weight loss such as bariatric surgery, such as just kinda natural weight loss with diet and exercise and or with drugs like Ozempic and Wegovy. As our weight drops, the fat in our face decreases as well. This could lead to areas appearing more hollow and gaunt, and also, our skin starting to droop. It may be that the faster the weight loss with these medications and the more significant the weight loss, the less the body has the ability to adapt and adjust, and that can lead to more sagging at a faster rate.”

Celebrities Have Been Using Ozempic

She also explains how celebrities are involved in the Ozempic craze. “The cost of ozempic is about $1,200 per month for off-label use of ozempic as a weight loss drug. And that is a major expense for most people, but usually not a major expense for most celebrities,” she says. “And similar to the lack of transparency when it comes to plastic surgery for weight loss, there is a similar lack of transparency. For example, Kim Kardashian had to fit into that Marilyn Monroe dress for the MET Gala, and as many have surmised, including the New York Times, she may have taken Ozempic to drop weight quickly to try to fit into that dress.”

Lose Weight Gradually

“Remember that the safest way to lose weight is to do so gradually with these medications and with any other method as well. I'm anticipating that the popularity of facial filler, including fat transfer to the face, will increase because of medications such as ozempic,” she says.

Rising Demand for Lifting Procedures Due to Facial Fat Loss

“I also think that the incidence of lifting procedures such as brow lifts and facelifts will increase as well because, as we talked about previously, there's an increased sagging that occurs when the fat in our face declines,” he says. “We've been talking a lot about buccal fat removal on this channel and the risks of that procedure. And keep in mind that Ozempic is now introducing additional hollowing of the face. So if someone's had a buccal fat removal, then they go on Ozempic to lose further weight, now they're going to look even more hollowed out gaunt, and they may be looking to replace that lost volume.”

She Approves of Ozempic for People with Type 2 Diabetes

Is Ozempic a good idea? “Certainly for people who have type two diabetes, yes,” she says. “I like the fact that, in general, it's not associated with hypoglycemia, which is when, uh, the blood sugar drops to a dangerously low level. This can be a very serious issue for people as they're trying to get their blood sugar under control for people who are obese or are overweight with conditions like high blood pressure, high cholesterol, heart disease, obstructive sleep apnea.”

Try and Focus on Self-Love

“I would say you need to take a look at yourself in the mirror. And you know, the other issue I see with the increased use of ozempic for people who are just trying to lose that little bit of extra weight, it just speaks to this kind of viewpoint that, unfortunately, we as a society seem to have that our bodies, and I think in particular women's bodies, but certainly everyone's bodies are as well, we view our bodies as like a trend. Right now, it's going to look thin. But a few years ago, it was trendy to look voluptuous, but back in the nineties, it was also very in to look very skinny. I just think that we all need to learn to appreciate our bodies more, be kinder to our bodies, and maybe even just learn to love ourselves a little more,” she concludes. There is some good news – and some bad – about weight loss drugs like ozempic. According to studies, the weekly jab will help you lose weight. However, research has also found that ozempic rebound weight gain is also real. According to a study in the Journal of Pharmacology and Therapeutics, the majority of people who take semaglutide gain most of the weight back within a year of stopping the medication. If you are on ozempic and want to keep the weight off, there is an effective way to do so: Exercise.

Anna Kaiser, global fitness leader and creator of the popular fitness brand, Anna Kaiser Studios, and personal trainer to stars like Kelly Ripa and Shakira has designed a sculpting workout you can do at home to not only help you maximize your ozempic results, but help you keep the weight off long after you are off the drug.

Kaiser describes the workout as a “mix of Pilates and barre-inspired workouts with added functional bodyweight training,” she says. The goal of the workout is to sculpt your body, keeping the “most deconditioned muscles” – including inner/outer thighs, glutes, and the sides of your body – in mind. The workout pairs “muscular endurance with power to give you the most bang for your buck which gets you the quickest results when it comes to toning and strengthening,” she says. “You can always keep the heart rate and cardio moves low impact instead of jumping up high,” she explains. “You can keep your feet on the floor, or you can step side-by-side for jacks instead of jumping.”

She also encourages you to “really think about how they’re performing each of these exercises and not just getting through them.” This involves “going slower with a full range of motion” instead of “pushing the speed or trying to get through it as quickly as possible.”

Do you want to look like a different person by spring? Now is the time to make changes to your approach to health and fitness, says one expert. Allie Janszen, RN, is a hormone health and fat loss coach who lost 80 pounds naturally and helps other people do the same. In a recent post, she details exactly what you should do in order to achieve a major glow-up by spring. “For the next 4 months…become addicted to these 5 habits, and you’ll become unrecognizable by May,” she writes across the video. “5 health habits that can help you become unrecognizable in just 4 months,” she writes in the Instagram post.

Balance Blood Sugar

The first thing you need to learn how to do is “balance blood sugar like a pro,” she writes in her post. “Stable blood sugar reduces insulin spikes, promotes fat loss, and improves energy levels.” Do this by starting every meal with protein and healthy fats, avoiding “naked carbs,” she says, explaining that you should “always pair them with a protein source.” Her last tip is to add 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar to 8oz water before meals “to help stabilize post-meal glucose spikes.”

Optimize Sleep

Next, “optimize your sleep for hormone reset,” she continues. “Quality sleep supports cortisol balance, reduces cravings, and aids in muscle repair and fat loss.” Here is how to do it: “Go to bed and wake up at the same time daily to regulate your circadian rhythm,” “limit blue light exposure an hour before bed,” and “create a calming bedtime routine with magnesium glycinate &/or herbal teas.”

Eat Hormone Boosting Foods

Next, improve your diet with hormone-boosting foods. “The right nutrients nourish your body, reduce inflammation, and optimize estrogen, progesterone, and cortisol levels,” she writes. How to do it? “Focus on anti-inflammatory foods like salmon, leafy greens, berries, and olive oil,” “incorporate cruciferous vegetables (e.g., broccoli, kale) to support estrogen detoxification,” and “prioritize protein intake of at least 100g/day to support lean muscle and satiety.”

Manage Stress

Her fourth strategy is to “manage stress with intentional practices,” she reveals. “Chronic stress dysregulates cortisol, leading to weight gain, fatigue & hormonal imbalances.” How to do it? “Add daily breathwork (4-7-8 breathing) or vagal toning exercises like humming or gargling,” “incorporate lymphatic drainage techniques such as dry brushing or rebounding,” and “take short breaks throughout the day to reset cortisol levels.”

Move Your Body Daily

Lastly, move your body daily, she recommends. “Regular movement supports healthy hormone levels, builds lean muscle, and improves metabolic health.” She suggests doing at least 30 minutes of movement every day, prioritizing weight training 3 to 4 times per week to build lean muscle and boost metabolism, and including low-intensity movement (e.g., walking, stretching) on recovery days. Does your tongue have a persistent white coating? Or maybe you've noticed your skin becoming more wrinkled lately? These could be unexpected signs that you're consuming too much sugar. Dr. Eric Berg DC, a leading authority on nutrition and healthy weight loss, has helped millions understand the hidden dangers of excessive sugar consumption. With over 13 million YouTube subscribers and multiple bestselling books, Dr. Berg breaks down the surprising signals your body sends when sugar intake is too high. Read on to discover if you're experiencing any of these seven warning signs.

Before We Start What Counts as Sugar

"I need to clarify exactly what sugar is and the difference between a sugar and a carbohydrate," Dr. Berg says in his post, explaining that many people misunderstand the relationship between complex carbohydrates, simple carbohydrates, and sugars. He reveals that carbohydrates consist of three components: sugar, fiber, and starch – with starch being a hidden form of sugar many overlook.

The Surprising Truth About Starch

"Starch is sugar," Dr. Berg states plainly. He explains that starch is simply multiple sugar molecules connected together, scientifically called polysaccharides. Even more concerning, some modified starches like maltodextrin can spike blood sugar levels to 185 on the glycemic index – dramatically higher than table sugar at 65.

Sign 1 Unexplained High Adrenaline

The most surprising sign of excessive sugar consumption, according to Dr. Berg, is elevated adrenaline levels. "Too much sugar damages the cell's ability to make energy in the mitochondria," he explains. This leads to increased adrenaline production, causing nervous energy, restlessness, and even insomnia.

Sign 2 Frequent Infections

"Having too much sugar will weaken your immune system to the point where you're more vulnerable to acquire an infection," Dr. Berg warns. This reduced immunity makes you more susceptible to various types of infections.

Sign 3 Low Testosterone Levels

"Sugar will lower testosterone," Dr. Berg reveals. This reduction can lead to multiple issues, including erectile dysfunction, decreased libido, and difficulty building muscle, as testosterone plays a crucial role in muscle development.

Sign 4 Bleeding Gums

If you see pink in your toothbrush after brushing, pay attention. Dr. Berg explains this could indicate a mild form of scurvy, showing vitamin C deficiency. "When you eat sugar, you block vitamin C and one place that it shows up is in your gums," he notes.

Sign 5 Chronic Sinus Problems

"Most chronic sinus problems are a fungus called aspergillus," Dr. Berg explains. This microorganism feeds on sugar, making it nearly impossible to resolve chronic sinus infections without eliminating sugar from your diet.

Sign 6 Persistent White Tongue

A chronic white tongue coating could indicate candida overgrowth. "I do not think you can get rid of this candida without eliminating sugar from the diet because it loves these simple sugars," Dr. Berg emphasizes.

Sign 7 Premature Aging

"When you consume too much sugar, you're going to produce less collagen," Dr. Berg warns. This reduction in collagen production manifests as loose, more wrinkled skin, leading to premature aging.

Taking Action Against Hidden Sugars

Recognizing these signs is crucial for taking control of your health. Dr. Berg's insights reveal how sugar affects multiple body systems, from hormones to immune function. By paying attention to these warning signs and reducing sugar intake – including hidden sources like modified starches – you can start improving your health today. Remember, awareness is the first step toward positive change, and even small reductions in sugar consumption can lead to significant health improvements. Are you letting your age be an excuse for not getting into shape? One 57-year-old expert who looks half her age has some recommendations to help you burn fat and achieve your best body. Christine Roderick is an “age positive” fitness trainer who helps “women over 40 transform their body, mind & spirits.” In a new social media post, she shows off her flat abs and reveals all her healthy daily habits that help her achieve her fantastic figure. “What I do for maximum fat burning at 57,” she writes. “Use this template for a week, 2 weeks or a month to get results,” she adds, sharing “what a typical day looks like” in her life.

Intermittent Fasting

Her first habit is intermittent fasting. “Fast 12-13 hours,” she recommends. Intermittent fasting prolongs “the period when your body has burned through the calories consumed during your last meal and begins burning fat,” explains Johns Hopkins Medicine.

Hydration

Christine wakes up at 6:15 a.m. The first thing she does is hydrate. According to the Mayo Clinic, hydration is essential for various reasons. Water helps eliminate waste through urination, perspiration, and bowel movements, keeps your temperature regular, lubricates and cushions joints, and helps protect sensitive tissues.

Coffee

Christina drinks a “loaded” coffee latte at 7:00 a.m. She adds @cymbiotika nootropic creamer and one scoop of collagen. According to the Cleveland Clinic, drinking coffee in moderation has several benefits. “It acts on your brain to improve memory, mood, reaction times, and mental function,” they say, citing a study finding that caffeine can improve endurance and performance during exercise. It is also antioxidant-rich, can ward off diabetes, prevent neurologic disease, lower cancer risk, and ward off depression, they point out.

Protein Before Workout

At 8:00 a.m., she hits the gym for a challenging strength training workout “with about 15 grams of protein as fuel & water with. @kion aminos,” she reveals. According to clinical trials, consuming more protein than the recommended dietary allowance not only reduces body weight (BW), but also enhances body composition by decreasing fat mass while preserving fat-free mass (FFM) in both low-calorie and standard-calorie diets.

Here Is What She Eats in a Day

For breakfast, Christine consumes 30 to 49 grams of protein, healthy fats, and carbs. She might eat eggs, lean meat, avocado, and whole grain toast or have a protein shake with prebiotic powder. Lunch is her largest meal of the day, “lean protein, bit more complex crabs & veggies ( i.e. salmon, leafy green salad & brown rice )” she writes. At 3 she will have a snack, 20 grams of protein in the form of cottage cheese, Greek yogurt, or hummus with veggies or seed cracker. Dinner might be lean meat, grilled veggies, and salad. “I tend to skip a lot of carbs at night but if I do do it it’s usually quinoa or a whole grain,” she says. For dessert, she will have “chocolate something!” she says. In total she aims for 120 grams of protein.

Stretching or Yoga

She also does stretch or yoga in the afternoon “to work on mobility & flexibility,” she says. “Stretching keeps the muscles flexible, strong, and healthy, and we need that flexibility to maintain a range of motion in the joints,” says Harvard Health. “Without it, the muscles shorten and become tight. Then, when you call on the muscles for activity, they are weak and unable to extend all the way. That puts you at risk for joint pain, strains, and muscle damage.”

Walking

Christine gets her steps in. She explains that she is “trying to incorporate the 15-20 minute walk after dinner at a 50% so far lol but really want this in my life,” she writes. Going for a daily walk can be a game changer, especially at a brisk speed. One study published in JAMA Internal Medicine found that walking at a brisk pace for about 30 minutes a day reduced the risk of heart disease, cancer, dementia, and death, compared with walking a similar number of steps but at a slower pace.

Tea Before Bed

She also avoids eating 2 to 3 hours before bed, “just a habit I made myself get consistent with,” she says. “I drink tea or sugar free cacao if I need something.” Numerous studies have shown that various teas may boost your immune system, fight inflammation, and even ward off cancer and heart disease.

Supplements

Christine takes supplements throughout the day:

Morning supplements: @fatty15, @seed probiotics @joiwomenswellness NAD, glutathione, C & methylated vitamin B 12

Afternoon supplements: @modere_us collagen & Trim ( Cla) @cymbiotika D3K2 @udeawellness the hair pill & omega 3 supplement

Evening supplements: Magnesium threonate & citrate for calm & progesterone

Sleep

Lastly, she prioritizes sleep. “In bed by 10 hopefully!!!!” she writes. According to the Sleep Foundation, getting enough z’s is a mood booster, promotes heart health, regulates blood sugar, improves mental function, restores your immune system, helps relieve stress, and aids in weight loss.
