You can eat delicious food and still lose weight, according to an expert. You can even eat dessert for dinner! Morgan Self is a fitness and lifestyle coach who helps people achieve their weight loss goals and “live” their “life in a body” they “love.” In a new social media post, she discusses what she eats in a day when she wants to lose weight. “I’ve lost 15lbs in the last couple of months, and this is an example of what a day of eating looks like for me,” she says. She goes on to share her exact food log” from the day.

You Don’t Have to Cut Out Foods You Love to Lose Weight

“Losing fat sucks if you cut out all the foods you love, so I don’t. Understanding how your body and nutrition works will help you realize that you truly can have your cake and eat it too,” she adds in the post. “Losing fat doesn’t mean that you have to cut out foods you enjoy. It just means you need to be more intentional about how much of ANY food you are putting into your body.”

Breakfast: Spinach & Cheese Microwave Scramble

She starts with her go-to breakfast, a scramble she makes in the microwave with spinach and cheese. The ingredients are:

  • 1 egg
  • 185g eggwhites
  • Handful baby spinach
  • 28g reduced-fat shredded cheese

Lunch: Creamy Chicken Taco Pasta

For lunch, she has a creamy chicken taco pasta made with regular pasta. Here are the ingredients:

  • 4oz air fried chicken tenders
  • 1 serving of angel hair pasta
  • 1/2c cottage cheese blended until smooth w/ 2T taco seasoning
  • 28g reduced-fat shredded cheese

Snack: Peanut Butter Drops

For a protein-packed snack, she eats peanut butter – only she freezes it to make peanut butter drops. She uses 32g peanut butter “frozen into little pieces,” she explains. “Omg! Why have I never thought about peanut butter drops!” one of her followers commented.

Dinner: Cotton Candy Protein Icecream Creami

For dinner, she eats dessert! She takes one scoop of Cotton Candy protein (@cleansimpleeats brand) and adds 10 oz vanilla Carbmaster milk and ten white fudge-covered pretzels. “I can definitely get on board with a cream for dinner,” one of her followers commented.

This Totals 140 Grams of Protein

“This has me eating 140g of protein a day, so I’m not hungry,” she says. “I’m satisfying any cravings I have by just… eating them within my macro targets.” Why should you focus on eating enough protein? According to clinical trials, consuming more protein than the recommended dietary allowance not only reduces body weight (BW) but also enhances body composition by decreasing fat mass while preserving fat-free mass (FFM) in both low-calorie and standard-calorie diets.

Keep Food Simple

In another post, she reveals a few things that are keeping you from achieving weight loss success. The first, “That is really a waste of your brain space when trying to lose weight,” she says, starting with healthy recipes. “I used to spend So much time trying to find ‘healthy’ recipes, going to the store for the weird ingredients it called for, making the recipe, and then figuring out how to track it in my macros. Waste. Now I just use simple foods that take me <15min to put together and are easy to track and be consistent with, even when I’m busy,” she writes.

Focus on How Much You Eat, Not What

She also notes that oftentimes, it’s not what you are eating but how much of it. “There are also no certain foods that will help you lose fat and tone up. When I stopped focusing on which foods and started focusing on how much, that’s when I got lean,” she explains.

Stop Trying to Be Perfect

She also stresses the importance of progress over perfection. “I used to be either all in or all out. That made me continuously lose my results and start over. I had to make a drastic mindset shift. I couldn’t keep thinking of my fitness as a “program” I needed to stick to, but a lifestyle that I’d need to change and develop new habits. Now free meals are in the plan, and I enjoy cookouts and going out to eat, and never feel like I’m starting over,” she explains. Do you want to lose 40 pounds in 3 months? Consider starting with a diet overhaul. Ciara Foster, AKA Ciara Honey Fit, is a social media influencer who creates a lot of wellness and weight loss content on her YouTube channel. “Today I am going to do a much, much requested and overdue video, how I lost 40 pounds in three months. I get this question so much,” she says. Here are the simple changes she made to burn fat fast.

Changing Her Diet Was Key to Her Weight Loss

Ciara reveals that she gained 80 pounds as a result of dealing with medical issues. “One of the biggest things that I did to lose 40 pounds in three months was to change my diet. I've eaten healthy for a while, but I got to a point where I was just so frustrated with my health and with the weight gain that I got to a point where it just seemed like I didn't even care as much anymore,” she says at the start of the clip.

She Met with a Nutritionist

Portrait of cheerful dietitian in lab coat pointing at fresh fruits and vegetables on table, smiling at camera at clinic. Weight loss consultant recommending healthy plant based dietShutterstock

“The first thing I did was to see a nutritionist. That nutritionist also was a doctor,” Ciara says. “She helped to create a meal plan for me that was very specific to what my body needed.” She said it is important to have a “specified meal plan for you that will help you to lose weight.”

“My meal plan consists of a balance of protein, carbs, and fats, with protein being my highest amount of nutrition that I take in with some fats and some carbs,” Ciara says, revealing that she focuses and organizes her meals around this. “That's the basis and the foundation of my diet and nutrition.”

Breakfast: Eggs, Turkey Bacon, Low Carb Tortillas, Almond Butter

Fried eggs and bacon cooking in a skilletShutterstock

For breakfast, she has eggs, turkey bacon, low-carb tortillas, “and I'll put almond butter in them,” Ciara says. “So I've got my protein, starch, and my fat.”

Lunch: Salads

For lunch, she has “Kardashian salad,” Ciara reveals, “because it reminds me so much of those big old salads that the Kardashians eat with two boiled eggs. Just because I'm not huge on meat, I'll eat mostly fish and seafood, but I really don't eat much like poultry or pork or beef. And I'll drizzle a little bit of salad dressing on it for my fat. And then I'll also have a starch, which lately I've been having Pirate’s Booty. I'm gonna start getting away from that and leaning more towards sweet potato and more like healthy starches instead of processed.”

Dinner: Protein and Veggies

“For dinner, I like to have protein and veggies,” Ciara continues. “My favorite right now is salmon and Brussels sprouts. I love Brussels sprouts and I love salmon. I make my own salmon. I just season it up really well, throw it in the oven, and it's actually really easy.”

She Added Cheat Days…

Reminder Cheat Meal Day in calendar with green pen. Close-up.Shutterstock

“One big thing that really helped me with my diet was that I used Monday through Friday pretty much eat healthy, and then Saturday and Sunday were like my cheat days,” she says. “What I started doing was narrowing myself down to one cheat meal per week. Really just being more strict about my weekends. That really can make a difference in the long run in terms of how quickly you're able to lose weight,” Ciara says.

And if you wanna lose weight quickly and drop the weight fast, you really, really have to limit those cheat days and those cheat meals. And reducing my cheat meals or cheat days to one cheat meal helped me lose the weight quicker,” Ciara says.

Eliminating Alcohol

“Something else that helped me to lose 40 pounds in three months was eliminating alcohol,” she says. “It was really, really hard for me because I am a wine person. Drinking is a social thing that affects the way that I interact with people at events that I tend not to and things like that. But if you want to lose weight quickly and drop the weight fast, then I definitely recommend eliminating or trying to cut down on your alcohol intake.” She set a goal for herself of two weeks, then a month, and then another month, and “ended up going the full three months without drinking.”

Meal Prepping

“Meal prepping was very, very integral in me losing 40 pounds in three months,” Ciara says. This helped her eliminate fast food from her diet and eating out. “I like to meal prep at the beginning of the week, and that way, I have all my meals for the week or a good portion of them, and it just eliminates that factor of always eating out or eating fast food or eating things that are not good for me,” she explains.

Are you struggling to lose weight in perimenopause? Just because you are over 40 doesn’t mean that achieving your body goals is impossible. Trish Koeslag is a women’s nutrition and fitness coach whose mission is to help women over 40 simplify macros and movement to lose weight. In a new social media post, she unveils her weight loss secrets through tips. “10 proven diet tips to lose 15 pounds if you’re in perimenopause,” she writes. “Are you ready to make this the year where you put yourself first? If the answer is ‘hell yes’ then LFG.”

Calculate Your Macros

Start by calculating your macros. Use a macro calculator “and follow your maintenance calories by tracking your food for 2 weeks (be honest!)” she writes.

Get Yourself in a Deficit

Next, get yourself in a deficit. “After 2 weeks of consistency use my macro calculator to create a 15% deficit if you haven’t seen any fat loss progress with your maintenance calories (progress looks like the scale dropping, inches dropping, clothes fitting better, energy improvements, strength in the gym…)” she continues.

Eat More Protein

Amp up your protein intake. “Aim for 30g of protein per meal and space out your meals every 3-4 hours,” she says. According to clinical trials, consuming more protein than the recommended dietary allowance not only reduces body weight (BW), but also enhances body composition by decreasing fat mass while preserving fat-free mass (FFM) in both low-calorie and standard-calorie diets.

Eat Whole Foods 90 Percent of the Time

Trish recommends staying away from processed foods and filling your plate with clean, nutritious options – most of the time. “Choose 90% whole foods - add lots of veggies to your meals (half your plate)” she writes.

Hydrate

Next, hydrate. “Drink 3L of water + electrolytes (I use LMNT)” she writes. According to the Mayo Clinic, hydration is essential for various reasons. Water helps eliminate waste through urination, perspiration, and bowel movements, keeps your temperature regular, lubricates and cushions joints, and helps protect sensitive tissues.

Track Everything You Eat

Don’t forget to track everything you eat to keep yourself accountable. “Track your food in an app (eyeballing does not work, you’ll have to weigh your food in grams) - I have used my fitness pal, MM+ and Cronometer, any app will do,” she says.

Walk 10,000 Steps Per Day

Make sure to get your steps in. “Work your way up to 10K steps per day (get outside for a walk everyday)” she says. A 2018 study published in the journal Obesity found a link between walking 10,000 steps a day and weight loss and weight management. Other studies published by the Journal of American Medical Association (JAMA) in JAMA Neurology and in JAMA Internal Medicine also linked walking 10,000 steps a day to less dementia and less cardiovascular disease overall, with less heart disease, less heart failure and fewer strokes.

Lift Weights

Strength training is also crucial for weight loss. “Start lifting weights: aim for 3 full body days or 4 days of 2 upper + 2 lower days,” she urges. According to the Mayo Clinic, strength and weight training help reduce body fat, preserve and increase lean muscle mass, and burn calories more efficiently. Strength training may also help you:

  • Develop strong bones
  • Manage your weight
  • Enhance your quality of life
  • Manage chronic conditions
  • Sharpen your thinking skills.

Get Enough Sleep

You also need to rest. “Sleep sleep sleep (this WILL make or break you)” she says. What are the health benefits of sleep? According to the Sleep Foundation, getting enough z’s is a mood booster, promotes heart health, regulates blood sugar, improves mental function, restores your immune system, helps relieve stress, and aids in weight loss.

Stay in Your Own Lane

  • 2-4 olives, sliced
  • Fresh basil leaves (or dried basil/parsley)
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • Cucumber slices or crackers for dipping.

Simply spread the hummus on a plate, top with sun-dried tomatoes, sliced olives, torn basil leaves, and a crack of black pepper. Serve with cucumber slices or a few crackers. "It's the perfect savory option when you're not in the mood for something sweet," says Liezl.

Here are 20 ways 12 people who lost over 10 pounds in 4 months achieved their weight loss goals.

Gen Cohen Lost 10 Pounds in 2 Months by Maintaining a Caloric Deficit

In a recent Instagram post, Gen Cohen, CNC, shared how she lost 10lbs in the first two months of her health journey. “What I would do is eat in a modest caloric deficit, which if you're a woman watching this video means you'll probably be eating an average of 1500 to 2000 calories per day in order to lose weight,” she says.

She Also Used an App

Apps also helped Cohen achieve her weight loss goals. “I would download an app like MyFitnessPal and preplan my meals the day before to make sure I was able to hit my calories and my protein goal while still enjoying my social life,” she continued.

And, She Drank A LOT of Water

Another helpful habit in her weight loss was investing in a big water bottle. “I would drink 16 ounces of water before getting out of bed in the morning, which helps regulate your cortisol and stress levels throughout the day,” she says. “And I would also drink 16 ounces of water before each meal. This will help you feel full quicker while you're still learning proper portion control.”

Blake Sanburg (@thenutritionnarc) is a diet and fitness influencer with over 415,900 TikTok followers who lost 23 pounds in two months. His number one tip to lose weight? “Start going to the gym,” Blake suggests. “Do weightlifting and cardio. This will help not only burn calories, but it'll also increase your muscle mass, which will make you seem less fat.”

He Also Avoided “Liquid Calories”

“Number two, avoid liquid calories such as sugary drinks, alcohol, soda, and stuff like that instead of diet soda,” Blake continued. “These are scientifically proven to be the easiest calories to cut out.”

He Amped Up His Protein Intake

Blake also amped up his protein intake. “The general rule of thumb is one gram of protein per pound of body weight. So if your goal weight is 150 pounds, try to eat 150 grams of protein.”

Cam Jones Lost 10 Pounds in 50 Days by Rigorously Tracking His Eating Habits

Cam Jones, one half of the brother influencer duo who make up Goal Guys, a YouTube account providing “different goals in fitness and productivity,” revealed in a viral video how he lost 10 pounds in 50 days.

“I genuinely do not understand how I've put on so much weight. I eat pretty healthy. I exercise two to three times a week, so what am I doing wrong?” he says in the video, setting a goal of losing 10 pounds of body fat in 50 days. Cam starts with a goal of “paying careful attention” to nutrition.

“The first thing I'm aiming for a daily calorie goal of just 1900 calories, and as crazy as it is to say I actually think my current diet is pretty healthy, so I'm also going to track every food I eat for the next 50 days to figure out where I've been going wrong,” he says

He Also Cut Snacks

Cam points out that the little snacks you eat in the day add up. Just three squares of dark chocolate, half a bag of popcorn in one glass of wine total 660 calories. “I was severely underestimating how many calories were in those snacks because I was having those four times a week,” he says, pointing out “that's an extra 2,400 calories per week. That's more than I'm going to eat today. So no wonder I was putting on weight even though I was exercising.”

Melissa Lattari Lost 15 Pounds in a Month by Reducing Sodium Intake

Melissa Lattari (@melissa.lattari) dropped 15 pounds in a month, explaining in a viral video how she did it. “Losing 10 to 15 pounds of water weight is easier than you think it is,” she says in the clip. Melissa maintains that dropping the weight is simple. “The easiest way to lose water weight, okay, listen up, is by switching up your diet,” she maintains. “Water retention happens when we're consuming too much sodium in our diet,” she continues. “Therefore, if you're eating a lot of overly processed foods such as pizza, frozen foods, prepackaged foods or going out and eating at a restaurant where they usually cook most foods with vegetable oils, your body is going to obtain more water.”

Other studies published by the Journal of American Medical Association (JAMA) in JAMA Neurology and in JAMA Internal Medicine also linked walking 10,000 steps a day to less dementia and less cardiovascular disease overall, with less heart disease, less heart failure and fewer strokes.

Nour T (@nourrtann/) lost a whopping 40 pounds in just five months with one simple habit. In one of her viral videos, she reveals that no matter what diet you want to go on, simply eating less will result in weight loss. “One thing I will say: Keto, paleo, Atkins, high protein, low fat, low carb, whatever it is, they all work. They all work because you're probably eating less,” she continues. “And also, please remember that eating healthy and eating to lose weight are completely different things.”

She Also Started Volume Eating

“In my opinion, the most sustainable way to lose weight without tracking calories or stressing out is volume eating. Volume eating is in no means a diet plan. It is actually just a technique,” Nour continues. “You're basically mainly eating large amounts of low-calorie foods, so some examples of that would be like instead of having a cup of rice, you would have a half cup of rice and then a half cup of cauliflower rice,” she says. Another example? “Instead of having a whole serving of pasta, you would split it in half and then have zoodles,” she adds, explaining that you would mix in your cauliflower rice with your rice or zucchini noodles with your noodles. “You're eating the same exact amount as you would've, but the calories you're cut in half, and you're allowing yourself to eat much more vegetables, which are good for you,” she says.

It alternates between the incline of 1.5 to 4.5, and then I usually keep my speed between 3 and 4,” she explains, adding that if you don’t have that option, you can manually change the incline and speed accordingly.

Amber Clemens Lost 160 Pounds by Eating Fast Food

Something I still struggle with after losing 160 pounds ❤️ #weightloss #weightlossstruggle #growingupfat #beforeandafter #fatphobia #thinprivilege

Amber Clemens (@amber_c_fitness) is a weight loss warrior and influencer on TikTok who lost a whopping 160 pounds while still eating fast food. In a viral video, she describes her before meal at Wendy’s: A Four for Four meal with a Junior cheeseburger, four piece chicken nugget, a small fry, “and I would actually order an additional six piece nugget because I wanted 10 and I would get a large root beer and that one meal would be 1,450 calories,” she says, noting “that's not including any dipping sauces that I would get to dip this stuff in, but I couldn't find the nutrition information for that.”

Now, she chooses from two lower calorie alternatives, the apple pecan salad “because it's so filling,” she says. “You get a high volume of food for about 550 calories.” Her other option is a six piece nugget and a small fry paired with a medium light lemonade. “And you can get that meal for 545 calories,” she says. “It's not about cutting things out, it's about finding things that you like equally as much, making swaps in moderation,” she points out. There is a lot of chatter about fasted workouts – exercising on an empty stomach. But should you do it? According to one expert, the answer is no. Adresha Das is a fat loss and strength coach who helps women lose weight and get stronger. In a new social media post, she discusses fasted workouts. “Here are 5 things that will leave you in shock,” she says, “and make you rethink about your empty stomach workout routine .”

You Might Burn Fewer Calories

The first shocking thing? “You might burn fewer calories,” she says. “Even though working out on an empty stomach sounds like it would help you burn fat, studies show that without proper food, you actually burn fewer calories. Your body isn’t working as well, meaning you’re not getting the full benefits of your workout.”

Your Endurance May Be Worse

“You may have worse endurance,” she says. “Ever tried running or doing cardio without eating first? Your energy might run out quicker because your body doesn’t have carbs to use. You’ll feel tired faster, and your performance will suffer. This isn’t ideal for long workouts or intense cardio.”

It Can Mess with Your Blood Sugar Levels

“It can mess with your blood sugar levels,” she continues. “Skipping food before a workout can cause your blood sugar to drop. This might make you feel weak, dizzy, or lightheaded while exercising. It’s not only uncomfortable but can also be dangerous.”

It Can Lead to Muscle Breakdown

“It can lead to muscle breakdown,” she continues. “If you don’t eat before working out, your body might start using muscle tissue for energy instead of fat. This is bad because losing muscle slows down your metabolism and makes it harder to tone your body.”

It Can Affect Your Mood and Focus

The last thing? It can affect your mood and focus. “Low blood sugar can make you feel grumpy or distracted while working out. If you haven’t eaten, your body is stressed and trying to keep up, which makes it harder to focus on your workout and stay in the zone,” she says.

Bottom Line: Eat Before Working Out

The bottom line? Your workouts will be more effective, and you will lose weight faster if you have something in your stomach before exercising. “So ladies, fuel up before your workouts, and you will have a much better workout session,” she says. Mahtab Ekay is a fat loss coach and social media influencer who has lost over 20 pounds and helps others do the same. She reveals a few game-changing hacks for sustaining weight loss in a new post. “If you want to lose weight safely by summer 2025 and not gain it all back, here are 6 things you need to do,” she writes.

Start Every Meal with Veggies

Her first tip? Start every meal with veggies. “I know, I know—veggies first isn’t the most exciting, but trust me, it works! 🥦 Starting with veggies fills you up with fiber and nutrients and it will help with preventing glucose spikes and your tendency to binge later,” she says. Some tasty veggie ideas: green salad, edamame, baby carrots, or bell peppers. “Your future self will thank you!)”

Stop Snacking

Her second tip: Stop snacking. “If you’re craving something sweet, save it for dessert after your meal. 🍫 Snacking on an empty stomach can mess with your blood sugar and lead to overeating later,” she writes.

Hydrate

Tip five, “hydrate, hydrate, hydrate,” she says. “Drink half your body weight in pounds in ounces of water. Staying hydrated keeps you full, helps with digestion, and supports your energy levels. Pro tip: grab a cute water bottle to keep you on track!”

Sleep

Finally, get your sleep in. “Aim for 50 hours of sleep per week.
