Carnie Wilson Lost 40 Pounds Without Ozempic and These 4 Habits Help Her Progress

The singer adopted four healthy habits that helped her achieve success.

Grammy-nominated singer Carnie Wilson has been in the news for more than her music career. The celeb shared with fans her lifelong struggle with weight—she once weighed more than 300 pounds. Wilson, daughter of Brian Wilson from the Beach Boys, recently dropped 40 pounds, and her journey didn't include the popular GLP-1 weight-loss medications.

There's no easy road to success when it comes to losing weight—and keeping it off. Here's Carnie Wilson's story.

1

She Previously Had Surgery

The celeb had gastric bypass surgery in the 90s, followed by Lap-Band surgery in 2012, according to Women's World. Since then, Wilson's progress has had highs and lows.

Gastric Bypass Surgery vs. Lap-Band Surgery

Gastric bypass surgery helps with weight loss. It modifies the shape and size of your small intestine and stomach, separating your stomach into two separate areas, according to Cleveland Clinic.

Gastric band (or Lap-Band) surgery is another procedure performed where an inflatable silicone band, known as the Lap-Band, is placed around the upper stomach. The idea is to limit food intake and slow down the digestion process. This helps you eat less because you feel full faster.

As with any weight-loss method, however, surgery is only the first half of the process. Lifestyle changes are necessary to keep the weight off.

She Eliminated Sugar and Gluten

One key player in Wilson's efforts? She gave up sugar, gluten, and butter while minimizing fats (via Prevention).

"I was tired of being in a chokehold by sugar and gluten, and I gave them up," the singer previously shared (via Women's World).

It's no secret that foods high in sugar are empty calories. They cause blood sugar to spike, resulting in fat storage. Cutting sugar out of one's diet is an effective way to lower overall calorie consumption.

She Fulfills Her Food Cravings in a "Realistic Way"

Wilson doesn't deprive herself from some of the foods she loves most.

"The way I eat is like corn tortillas, not flour. I eat brown rice, I eat some rice, I eat plenty of tortilla chips and guac. I don't deprive myself … I'm going to eat what I want, but I just don't eat sugar or gluten and it's working and I just feel better. I have totally adjusted my eating habits to satisfy my cravings but in a realistic way. And it's a miracle," she said (via Women's World).

5

She Walks

Wilson revamped her workout routine, too, focusing on walking regularly.

"I am trying to increase my exercise and vow to walk at least three times a week," she told Woman's World. "I think exercise is my answer at this point. I feel so much better than before, and I do believe what we put in our bodies makes an enormous difference."

6

She Stays Positive and Consistent

As for her future plans, Wilson's sticking to her healthy habits and staying positive.

"I'll continue what I'm doing," she told PEOPLE (via Women's World). "Life throws a lot of stuff at you. I try to remain positive … I've been through all of it, and this is not for anyone except for me and my wellbeing. And I do feel happy and really grateful."
