Woman Lost 180 Pounds (Half Her Body Weight) with These 5 Eating Hacks

One weight loss warrior reveals little tricks that helped her lose weight.

Carla Piera FitzGerald HalfofCarla

You can lose weight – one little eating hack at a time. Carla (@HalfofCarla) is a weight loss warrior who lost over half her body weight – a whopping 180 pounds – by making a few key healthy changes. In a new YouTube video, she reveals a few simple eating hacks that were a key part of her success. “Weight loss is hard, and I've lost over half my body weight, so I know, “ she says in the clip. “I've come up with a couple of hacks that helped me to lose 180 pounds, and hopefully, they might help you. If you're new here, my name is Carla. I make videos about how I show up for myself and hope to inspire you to do the same,” she continues. “In today's video, I'm going to be sharing with you five different simple hacks that you can do that might help you on your weight loss journey.”

Hack 1: Plate (Or Bowl) Everything

“Number one. We have a simple rule in this household that everything that you eat must be on a plate,” she says in the post. “The reason is, what happens when we want something to eat is that we often get triggered by the idea, or we're walking around the kitchen and we're like, Hmm, I could do with a little bit of something. You know, I'm, I'm a bit peckish. And before you know it, you've grabbed the entire bag of granola, you've eaten half of it, and you're still looking for something to eat even though you've just eaten all of this. Basically, what's happening is that our mind is not catching up with the fact that we're eating something. We're not present in what we're doing. So in order to do that, to put a delay between that, just scoffing it into our mouth and realizing that we're eating something, we're going to put it on a plate or on a bowl.”

And, Sit and Eat with Utensils

“Making sure that it is on either a bowl or a plate is going to stop you from just automatically reaching and eating all of this, measuring it out, weighing it out, and putting that delay in. So your mind is becoming more present and becoming more aware that you are about to eat something, and then you're going to eat it,” she says. A hack that goes along with this? “You got to sit the fork down to eat your food. No standing around in the kitchen, scoffing piles of granola, into your mouth. It's against all the rules. I'm standing, and it's not on a plate,” she says.

Hack 2: Proportion Your Snacks

Her second hack is to start proportioning your snacks. “If we think that we are not able to eat any kind of sweet or sugary thing or anything nice while we're losing weight, we're probably going to feel really deprived. And that's not what we want to do here. We want to ensure that we can deal with it and work within our lifestyle. So we're creating new habits that allow us to maintain that weight when we get into maintenance. Because if we deprive ourselves for however long it's going to take us to lose weight and say, you cannot have that chocolate bar until you finish weight, until you finish losing weight,” she says. Once you use it, you will overindulge.

You Can Even Do This with Candy

Instead, you want to find ways to make weight loss sustainable, and proportioning can help. For example, put Halloween candy into little bags and know exactly how many calories are in each bag. “Then, when you are planning your meal, which is important for your week, you can leave 160 calories worth of room for your snacks. You can put it on here, label it, and then put them away,” she says.

Hack 3: 20 Minute Snacking Rule

“Number three in a similar vein is to do with snacking,” she says, noting that it was a “game changer” for her weight loss. “This is the thing that helped me to still feel satisfied, but stopped any kind of binge overeating tendencies that I might have had.”

It Will Help You Avoid Binging

“Can I do the 20-minute rule? Can I wait 20 minutes now and see how I feel after this? Give it 20 minutes. See how you feel. It's a lot easier to do that than just to keep dipping your hand into the big all bag, especially if it's something that's like triggery,” she says.

Hack 4: Do Not Eat Sweets on an Empty Station

Number four, then is not so much a hack. It is a piece of life advice that I have learned in the last five years of losing weight and maintaining weight: Guys, do not eat sweets on an empty stomach. Don't eat sweets on an empty stomach,” she says.

Smart Ways to Satisfy Your Sweet Tooth

While you can eat sweets, “please don't let that be the thing that you reach for when you are hungry, because if you do that, your body will spike your blood sugar, and then all you're going to want is to, you're going to crave sugar,” she says. “If you want to eat something sweet, make sure that you have it either after your dinner or after you've had a meal or worst case scenario, have at least a piece of fruit, like a banana or something like that, and then have the chocolate bar have the packet of, of the chocolate, the sweets, whatever it is, the jellies, whatever it is for you.”

Hack 5: Have Snacks for When You Are Cooking

“The last little one is something I'm particularly proud of. It's something that helped me a lot during weight loss and made life so much easier for myself. That is to cut up and to have a snack that is dedicated to snacking while cooking,” she says. She points out that when making meals, while you are hungry, you are likely to grab unhealthy food and snacks.

Veggies Are Great for This

“What I'm going to do is I'm going to take a wee pepper, something like a pepper, a cucumber, cherry tomatoes, an orange, something like that, some fruit or vegetable that I'm going to cut up first. So the very first thing I'm going to do, and then I'm going to put it on my plate, and when I make my soup, I'm going to have that, and that is going to be my snack while I'm preparing my food,” she says. That way, she will avoid grabbing granola, bread, or another not-as-healthy option. And if you enjoyed this article, take advantage of these15 Quick Ways to Lose Body Fat Percentage in a Week.

Are you trying to lose weight but need some tips? Mahtab Ekay is a fat loss coach and social media influencer who lost over 20 pounds and helps others do the same. In a new Instagram post, she reveals some of her weight loss secrets. “8 calorie deficit tips you need to know if you are going to be successful with losing weight,” she writes in the video. “I have lost 20 pounds in less than 3 months, and here are my top 8 tips that will help you get better results easier and faster.”

Amp Up Your Fiber Intake

Her first tip is to eat at least 20-25g of fiber every day. “Fiber helps keep you satiated and aids in digestion. Include foods like fruits (apples, berries), vegetables (broccoli, carrots), legumes (beans, lentils), and whole grains (oats, quinoa) in your diet,” she writes.

Drink at least Half Your Weight in Pounds in Ounces of Water

Next, she recommends drinking at least half your body weight in pounds in ounces of water daily, or “ideally” two-third of her weight. “Staying hydrated is crucial for overall health and can help control hunger. For example, if you weigh 150 pounds, aim to drink 75 ounces of water daily,” she writes.

Eat 0.8 Grams of Protein Per Pound of Ideal Body Weight

Next, eat 0.8g of protein per pound of your ideal body weight. “Protein keeps you full longer and helps preserve and build muscle mass, which is essential for a toned, strong look. Include protein sources like chicken, fish, eggs, tofu, and legumes in your meals,” she says.

Gradually Increase Your Daily Steps

Next, amp up your steps! “Aim to consistently hit 8,000-12,000 steps every day. Start with small goals and increase your steps over time to boost your overall activity level,” she writes.

Lift Weights

Strength training is also key. She recommends lifting weights 3 to 5 times a week. “Weight lifting yields better results when following a structured program focused on progressive overload. This means gradually increasing the weights you lift to continuously challenge your muscles,” she writes.

Incorporate Low-Calorie, High-Volume Foods

She also recommends incorporating low-calorie, high-volume foods into your diet. “Foods like popcorn, strawberries, and other berries are high in nutrition and low in calories. They help you feel full without consuming too many calories,” she writes.

Stop Snacking

Next, stop snacking. “Have sweets or treats as dessert after your main meals to help control cravings. This strategy helps prevent mindless snacking throughout the day,” she says.

Sleep More Than 6 Hours

Her last tip is to sleep more than 6 hours. “This is one of the most underrated tips. Sleep deficiency can disrupt hunger hormones, making it harder to stay in a calorie deficit due to increased cravings and potential binge eating. Aim for at least 7-9 hours of quality sleep each night,” she says. And if you enjoyed this article, don't missI’m a Nutritionist and Here Are 25 Weight Loss Truths You Need to Hear.

Have you been trying to lose weight but been unsuccessful? Sadie Chartrand of Slim Sadie Coaching is a weight loss coach, military spouse, MO, and Registered Nurse (RN) who “helps women who have been battling their bodies and struggling with their weight for their entire lives” get into shape. In a new viral YouTube video, she reveals how she did it. “This is how I lost 80 pounds in just five months,” she says at the start of the clip. “My only hope is to help you all lose weight based on my own experiences.”

She Was “So Heavy” That She Thought She Had a “Disease or Disorder”

“Two weeks before December 13th, 2017, I had decided at some point that the reason that I was so heavy had to be because of some kind of disease or disorder. So I went to the doctor, and I told myself when I went into the doctor's office if all of my results came back negative, I had to lose weight. I have no more excuses. This was December 13th, 2017. I went into the office, and she read my results back to me. Everything was totally normal,” she says in her post.

She Went to a Doctor and Had Her BMR Calculated

“I stuck to my promise to myself, so I asked this doctor to help me lose weight. The first thing that she did was body composition. From that, she showed me what my BMR was, which was basal metabolic rate. And then she explained to me that to lose weight, I needed to eat about 1,157 calories a day, no more than that,” she continued.

She Amped Up Her Protein Intake

She is also excited about her protein intake. “She wanted to make sure that I really increased my protein. So I ate one gram of protein per pound of skeletal muscle that I had, which was about 75 grams of protein per day,” she continues.

She Cut Carbs

She also stopped eating carbs. “At the time, she really cut my carbs out. So I was only eating less than 20 net carbs per day, less than 50 total carbs per day,” she says.

Here Is What She Ate in a Day

She was eating a protein shake for breakfast and a protein shake for lunch. “And these are Premier Protein shakes, pre-made,” she says. “For dinner, I was having four ounces of meat and two cups of vegetables.”

Walking Was Also Key

And, she got her steps in. “As for exercise, all I did was walk,” she says. A 2018 study published in the journal Obesity found a link between walking 10,000 steps a day and weight loss and weight management. Other studies published by the Journal of American Medical Association (JAMA) in JAMA Neurology and in JAMA Internal Medicine also linked walking 10,000 steps a day to less dementia and less cardiovascular disease overall, with less heart disease, less heart failure, and fewer strokes.

She Lost Weight Fast

When she went in for her two-week checkup “and just to check in to see how things were going,” she learned she had lost 14.7 pounds in just two weeks. “At first, I was so excited, and then everyone said, ‘It's water weight. It's going to come back. Don't get yourself all excited about this.’

She Went on to Lose 80 Pounds in 5 Months

“It never came back. And I continued to lose weight. At the end of the first month. I had lost basically 25 pounds in one month, which was my goal. I just barely miss it by a few ounces. But basically, it was 25 pounds. About two months into my journey, I had lost 40 pounds. And at the end of five months, I had lost 75 pounds. So that's why I say I lost 80 pounds in five months.”

She Gained Some of It Back

Unfortunately, she ended up gaining back 40 of those 80 pounds within a few months. “I got back into it, and I committed again. I lost all of the weight again by May of 2019. Her lowest weight was 180, and she admits that she is now 223.

She Is Now Back on Track and Using These Tips

“I am embarrassed, I'm disappointed. But the most important thing that I have to keep reminding myself is that I've done this not once but twice before. I know how to do this, and I can do it. It's just a matter of convincing myself each and every day to do this. It's been a lot, but it's also been absolutely life-changing for me, and I was really missing out on life. So my motto is losing weight and gaining life.” And if you enjoyed this article, take advantage of these 15 Quick Ways to Lose Body Fat Percentage in a Week.

You Need to Break Your Old Habits

“HOW I FINALLY LOST THE WEIGHT AND KEPT IT OFF!!!” she continues. “Maybe ‘easy’ isn’t the word. It will be difficult to break the old habits you’ve instilled. But they’re simple rules,” she says. “My weight fluctuated for years and I always felt like I had to ‘cut’ or ‘diet.’”

These 5 Changes Helped Her Lose Weight

“Once I made these 5 changes, I’ve been able to lose the weight. Anytime it feels like I’m putting weight on, I evaluate where I’m slipping up with one of these and get back on track and I’m good to go,” she says. “It doesn’t have to be difficult and confusing. Dumb it down and get it done.”

Step One: Improve Sleep

The first step is to improve sleep. “Cold temperature at night and sleep in less clothing magnesium before bed. I mask to make it dark. No phone in bed,” she continues. “Charge it in another room. Try to go to bed and wake up around the same times every day. Sunlight in your eyes, first thing in the morning.”

Step Two: Eat Regularly

Her second step has to do with nutrition. “Eat to prevent crazy glucose spikes. Eat greens first, then protein and fats, then carbs. Never eat carbs by themselves. Decrease overall sugar intake,” she says.

Step Three: Eat More Protein

Her third step? Amp up your protein intake. “Eat more protein. Eat as much meat, fish and eggs as you please,” she says.

Step Four: Focus Your Diet Around Whole Foods

Step four? Most of your diet should be whole foods like meat, fish, eggs, fruit, and veggies. “Stick to the perimeter of the grocery store where things have to be refrigerated. Foods that don't have ingredient labels,” she says.

Step Five: Exercise

The final step is “balanced training,” she says. “Strength train two to three days a week. Some form of endurance training once a week, 10 to 15,000 steps per day. The remaining of exercise to be lower intensity, Pilates, yoga, something fun outdoors. Occasional HIIT workouts to challenge yourself, but not multiple times per week. Allow time for recovery. Better to train harder on fewer days. Exercise doesn't have to be the gem. It can be pickleball, roller skating, long walks with friends, run club to socialize.”

Shawn Michelle (@shawnmichellefitness) is a weight loss warrior and TikTok influencer who has amassed a large following on social media for sharing health and fitness content surrounding her weight loss. In one viral video, she revealed that she dropped a whopping 45 pounds in 3.5 months, simply by making a few lifestyle changes. “What I did to lose 45 pounds in 3 ½ months,” she says in the video.

1. She Only Drank Water

@shawnmichellefitness

Simple = Results 🍃 #weightlosstips #weightlossjourney #caloriedeficit #macrosmatter #caloriecounting #walkingforweightloss

First, Shawn explains that she “cut out all drinks other than water.” Chris McMahon, a nutrition and fitness coach, agrees that you should avoid drinking your calories if you are trying to lose weight. If you find water boring, he suggests adding a little sugar free flavor to it. How much water should you drink? According to the U.S. National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine men should drink about 15.5 cups (3.7 liters) of fluids a day and women about 11.5 cups (2.7 liters) of fluids.

2. Ate Every 3 to 4 Hours

Smart watch on the woman's handShutterstock

Shawn also ate every 3 to 4 hours. While some people swear that eating several smaller meals throughout the day speeds up metabolism and helps keep them satisfied, science doesn’t support that theory. One study even found that increasing meal frequency from three to six per day has no significant effect on 24 hour fat oxidation, but may even increase hunger and the desire to eat.

3. She Went Into Caloric Deficit

Shawn also “went into caloric deficit,” she explains. “The best way to actually shrink your stomach would be to be in a consistent calorie deficit,” McMahon adds. “There's no way around it. People say that diets don't work. That's not true.”

4. She Exercised 2 to 4 Times a Week

Shawn_Michelle_shawnmichellefitness2shawnmichellefitness/Instagram

Shawn also says that she exercised 2 to 4 times a week. McMahon adds that while setting aside time for the gym every week is a must, “you also have to consider what you are doing the other 23 hours and 15 minutes of the day.” He suggests making sure you are moving regularly. One of his hacks? Taking 10 minute walks throughout the day. “A 10 minute walk is equal to a thousand steps. So if you think of it that way, it's like, “Oh, okay, I can take short little walk breaks,” he says.

5. She Focused on Healthy Carbs

She also “focused on healthy carbs” like brown rice and sweet potatoes, which are filled with fiber. While some people swear by low carb diets, your body actually needs carbs for energy. She added that she avoids “white bread, cakes, cookies,” which are basically forms of sugar.

💪🔥Body Booster: While some people swear by small, frequent meals, science has actually found that eating less frequent, larger meals may be more beneficial for weight loss.

Are you struggling to achieve your weight loss goals? Kiana Monle is a holistic wellness influencer who dropped over 30 pounds and shares her tips and tricks on social media. In a new post, she reveals a few things she did to drop weight. “Before, I felt heavy. I was uncomfortable in my body and was sick of hovering around the same weight for years on end. I got sick and tired of being sick and tired! So I made some changes. BIG ones,” she says in the post, revealing five things she did to lose 35 pounds.

She Got Into a Calorie Deficit

The first thing she did was get into a calorie deficit. “For the first 6 months, I meticulously tracked my calories. I know this isn't for everyone, but it was so helpful to know how much I was eating, and how much I had left to play around with. IMO, this was the biggest game changer,” she says.

RELATED:10-Min Walking Workout Burns Fat at Home, Says Coach

She Went “Back to Basics”

Next, she went “back to basics,” she says. “I used to eat a ton of sweets. It became a cycle, and my weight soared. To reset, I went back to the basics--whole foods , no cakes or cookies. Yes, that first few days were tough (almost caved for some insomnia cookies) but it was worth it. After a week or so I stopped craving so many sweets. I also started to enjoy whole foods more. I later re-introduced cakes, cookies, etc!”

She Exercised

She also started to exercise. “I've always been somewhat active when it came to workouts, but as someone who worked from home, I got maaaybe 1K steps in a day. To move more, I worked out 3X a week (doing @heatherrobertsoncom 's 12 week program) and later added walks 5X a week. Once I finished the plan, I did the second one for a bit before ditching, lifting altogether, and focused on cardio (my fave),” she says.

She Treated Herself to “Daily Fun Foods”

Next, she started treating herself to “daily fun foods,” she reveals. “I reset my palate, but I still kept things fun. My daily treat would be popcorn and a chocolate truffle (huge fan of both!).”

She Focused on Consistency

Finally, she focused on consistency. “Daily commitment was key. For those first 6 months, when I lost 20 pounds, I would stick to my eating and workout plan. No cheat days, no going off script. I simply built in rest days, and if I ate out, I'd have it fit into my daily calories,” she writes.

She Is Now Focused on Balance

“Now as I maintain my goal weight, it's about finding balance,” she reveals at the end of the post. “It's not always easy, but I'm excited to document it here!” And if you enjoyed this article, don't miss12-3-30 Walking Method: 20 Proven Tips to Lose Weight Faster.

Most of us have heard that increasing protein is essential for weight loss, but there's actually such a thing as overdoing it. Jon Williams, a fat loss expert who helps men and women lose 20-plus pounds of body fat, explains that while protein is crucial for muscle maintenance and metabolism, excessive amounts can sabotage your progress. Keep reading to discover the telltale signs that your protein intake might be hindering rather than helping your fat loss journey.

Your Digestive System Is Revolting

Having constant bloating, gas, or bathroom issues? Your protein intake might be the culprit. "When you focus too heavily on protein, you often shortchange your fiber intake, which wreaks havoc on your digestion," Jon explains in his post. High-protein diets frequently lead to insufficient fiber consumption, creating an imbalance that your gut immediately notices. Without adequate fiber to move things along, your digestive system simply can't function optimally, leading to uncomfortable symptoms that signal something's wrong.

You're Constantly Thirsty

Feel like no amount of water satisfies your thirst? According to Jon, "Your body requires significantly more fluids to process protein properly, and many people underestimate how much additional water they need." The dehydration from excessive protein consumption can manifest as fatigue, headaches, or dizziness—symptoms many people mistakenly attribute to other factors. If you're drinking what should be enough water yet still feel parched, your protein-heavy diet might be the real reason.

The Scale Is Moving in the Wrong Direction

Surprised to see weight gain despite watching calories? Jon points out that "excess protein doesn't magically disappear—your body converts it to fat if you're consuming more than you need." While protein is essential for preserving muscle during fat loss, it still contains calories that count toward your daily total. If your weight is creeping up despite maintaining what you believe is a calorie deficit, the extra protein could be pushing you into a surplus without you realizing it.

Your Workouts Feel Like a Struggle

Finding yourself unexpectedly fatigued during exercise? "When people go overboard with protein, they often reduce carbs too much, which leaves them without proper fuel for intense workouts," Jon says. This imbalanced approach can lead to noticeable decreases in performance and energy levels. Your body needs carbohydrates for high-intensity activities, and without them, your training suffers. The exhaustion you feel might be a direct result of prioritizing protein at the expense of other essential macronutrients.

Finding Your Protein Sweet Spot

Balance is key when it comes to protein consumption. Jon recommends "aiming for 0.7-1 gram of protein per pound of body weight, which provides enough for muscle maintenance without going overboard." This range gives your body what it needs for recovery and metabolism without risking the negative side effects of excessive intake. Finding your personal protein sweet spot ensures you get the benefits without undermining your progress.

Creating a Sustainable Calorie Deficit

Protein is just one piece of the fat loss puzzle. "Tracking your intake initially helps develop awareness, but focusing on whole foods makes maintenance much easier long-term," Jon explains in another post. A sustainable approach combines reasonable protein intake with plenty of vegetables, adequate hydration (aim for half an ounce of water per pound of body weight), and portion control. These fundamental habits create the calorie deficit needed for fat loss while keeping your energy levels stable and digestion running smoothly.

Balancing Your Macronutrients

Smart fat loss requires considering all macronutrients, not just protein. "The most successful clients understand that protein, carbs, and fats all play important roles in both performance and fat loss," Jon says. Rather than demonizing any macronutrient, focus on quality sources and appropriate amounts of each. This balanced approach provides your body with everything it needs to lose fat effectively while maintaining energy, supporting workouts, and preserving muscle mass—the true formula for lasting results. There's nothing quite like the moment when you've reached your weight loss goal and realize the real work is just beginning. YouTube sensationLiezl Jayne Strydom is familiar with this journey, having successfully lost 30 pounds in just 12 weeks and maintained her results long-term. "It's not about being perfect," she states repeatedly. Her philosophy centers on consistency rather than perfection, focusing on nutrient-dense, protein-rich meals that keep her satisfied throughout the day.

Getting Out of the Winter Rut

"To get out of my rut, get out of the winter rut, I like to do just a few simple things," Liezl explains in her recent post. "I like to change up my routine so things feel fresh, change up my meals and my workouts a bit so that I can just feel like I'm working towards some new goals." This refreshed mindset helped her stay motivated during her weight loss journey and continues to serve her well during maintenance.

Protein-Packed Breakfast Smoothie

"I've been making this breakfast every single day this week. This week, it's my favorite. It's just really simple," says Liezl. Her recipe combines one cup of frozen mango, half a cup of frozen raspberries, and half a cup of frozen strawberries. She adds about three-quarters to one cup of coconut yogurt, one small scoop of vanilla protein powder, and water to blend. "It's like a giant strawberry milkshake for breakfast," she explains.

Morning Movement Matters

"I just finished a workout. So I'm a little bit sweaty, a little bit hot, ready for my breakfast," Liezl shares. For her, exercise isn't about punishment but rather a consistent part of her routine that complements her nutrition. This balanced approach helped her lose weight in a sustainable way and now helps her maintain her results.

Nutrient-Dense Lunch Bowl

"It's a perfect lunch for me—quick, very healthy, and full of protein," Liezl explains about her midday meal. She starts with arugula, adds roasted sweet potatoes, and two seven-minute boiled eggs. "I always like to add something really filling to my salads like sweet potato or rice or quinoa," she notes. A drizzle of olive oil and coconut aminos brings everything together, with sunflower and pumpkin seeds for crunch.

Prioritizing Meal Prep

"I've got these roasted sweet potatoes. I cooked them yesterday," Liezl explains. This simple habit of having healthy options ready makes maintaining her weight loss easier. "All the work of these fruits, or the melons, is just cutting it up. But if you've got it cut up, then you can just have it ready to go in the fridge," she adds when discussing her afternoon snack.

"That makes a very good after lunch snack," she notes, showing how simple combinations can satisfy sweet cravings naturally.

"I love coconut yogurt, but any kind of plain yogurt will actually work," Liezl explains. For her afternoon coffee, she shares, "What I've really been liking in my coffee lately is I use just coconut milk in a can, light coconut milk. It's like so creamy, a little bit sweet, just naturally sweet. It's dairy-free, obviously."

Quick 10-Minute Dinner

"This is something that I make when I don't have a lot of time or when I just want something super quick," says Liezl. "This is a five to 10 minute dinner. So fast." She steams green beans while cooking ramen noodles, then adds pre-cooked chicken. "After I drain the noodles, I actually just put them right back in the pot with the stove turned down to low. And I just throw all the chicken pieces in there," she explains, adding oil and coconut aminos before covering to heat everything through.

Mindful Evening Indulgence

"I'm not trying to lose weight at the moment, so I don't count my calories. I only do that when I'm trying to lose weight," Liezl explains. Her evening ritual includes ginger tea paired with a small piece of dark chocolate. "And it's chocolate time. A little bit of chocolate," she says simply. "I'm going to go enjoy my chocolate and my tea and just relax a little bit this evening."

The Protein Priority

"I am trying to eat quite a lot of protein at the moment. I try to get roughly a hundred grams of protein a day," Liezl notes. "I'm not like counting it. I just kind of have learned what kind of things have protein in them. So just having the eggs for lunch, having some protein powder in my smoothie for breakfast, having the chicken in my dinner. All those proteins accumulate."

Understanding Your Calorie Needs

"I'm not trying to lose weight at the moment, so I don't count my calories. I only do that when I'm trying to lose weight," Liezl explains. "But I thought some of you guys might want to know how many calories that I'm eating. So it says that I ate 2,227 calories today and 95 grams of protein. That's pretty good."

Flexible Framework, Not Rigid Rules

"It's not about being perfect. It is not about being perfect," Liezl emphasizes twice. "I have found that when I am putting in a little bit of effort, taking care of myself, I just feel so much better," she says. "When I don't [take care of myself], it really affects my confidence. And then I'm like thinking, oh, I need to change all these things about myself."

Summer-Ready Confidence

"Getting summer ready really just means feeling healthy, strong, confident in my skin," says Liezl. "You know, comfortable showing a little bit more skin after winter. In winter I get like, feel like a bit scruffy after winter, like I've just been bundled up so much." Her approach focuses on making small changes that yield big results in both physical appearance and mental well-being.

Finding Inspiration, Not Perfection

"I hope that you enjoyed this video. I hope that it just gives you a bit of motivation, a bit of inspiration, maybe a recipe or two to try," Liezl says. By sharing her realistic day of eating, she demonstrates that sustainable weight management doesn't require extreme restriction. As she puts it, it's about "just getting out of the rut a bit, just changing up a few things, doing some exercise, eating some healthy meals."
