“By getting protein in the morning, you are counteracting the muscle loss that you are incurring – – 1 to 3% a year once you get into menopause! Having it in the morning, also balances your blood sugar decreases cravings, and strengthens your ability to stick with it,” she continues.

“The fiber piece is so interesting. Every 10 g of fiber that you have over the average you can decrease your risk of death by 10% but this is also especially true for women as we age because I got my gut micro biome is changing a lot. Women will notice all of a sudden that they have cholesterol issues, food sensitivities, or low vitamin D among other gut related changes,” she adds.

“And then the last perhaps most difficult piece is adding the three probiotic foods but things like cottage cheese, yogurt, kimchi sauerkraut can really help. We want to boost our gut health so that we can boost our brain health and hormone health,” she says.
