10 Ways to Lose Fat That Are Not a Calorie Deficit

Calorie counting is not for everyone—if you want to lose fat but can’t or won’t count calories, there are plenty of other options. “Before you set out on your effort, make sure you know exactly what you’re trying to achieve,” says Harvard Health.

“Ask yourself, ‘How much weight do I need to lose to be healthy?’ Then set personalized goals, in achievable increments and introduce lifestyle changes to gradually lose weight and keep it off. Be prepared to adapt your lifestyle as necessary to maximize your chances of success.” Here are 10 ways to lose fat without counting a single calorie.

Walk 10K Steps Every Day

A quick look at social media shows inspiring success stories of people who lost fat and got fit simply by walking every day. “Start with a simple goal, such as, ‘I'll take a 5- or 10-minute walk during my lunch break.’ When your 5- or 10-minute walk becomes a habit, set a new goal, such as, ‘I'll walk for 20 minutes after work.’ Find specific times for walks. Soon you could be reaching for goals that once seemed impossible,” says the Mayo Clinic.

Eat Lots of Protein

Experts say 10-35 percent of your meals should be protein. “Increasing the amount of protein you eat can help reduce the buildup of harmful fats in your body, especially around your belly (abdomen),” says the Cleveland Clinic. “Protein is used to build muscle, so it can also help prevent muscle loss as you shed pounds.”

Screens are disruptive to good sleep, which is crucial for fat loss and overall health. “Checking your phone stimulates your brain,” sleep medicine expert Michelle Drerup, PsyD, DBSM, tells the Cleveland Clinic. “You’re more active and awake. Even just a quick check can engage your brain and delay sleep.”

Using the expertise of a personal trainer could make the whole weight loss process much easier. “Personal trainers are results-driven and will work with you to achieve your fitness goals,” according to the Southern California Health Institute (SOCHI). “They will help you set realistic goals and create a plan to achieve them, ensuring that you are progressing and getting the desired results.”

Eat Satiating Food

You don’t need to count calories to know certain foods offer plenty of volume and nutrients without encouraging weight gain. Leafy greens, salad vegetables, and fruits such as berries are a great choice. The more you fill up on healthy food, the less you will be tempted to eat unhealthy options.

Healthy fats such as olive oil, salmon, and avocado may accelerate your fat loss. “The theory is that by eating so many healthy fats and restricting carbohydrates, you enter an altered metabolic state in which you force your body to begin relying on fat for energy, burning away your fat stores instead of sugar for fuel,” says Harvard Health.

Use a Nutritionist

A dietician can really help streamline the weight loss process. “There’s so much misinformation and so many mixed messages out there,” registered dietitian Tegan Bissell, RD, LDN, CDCES, tells the Cleveland Clinic. “As experts in food and nutrition, dietitians can help you sift through it all and point you to the science.”

Start Weight Training

“Do strength training exercises for all major muscle groups at least two times a week,” says the Mayo Clinic. “Aim to do a single set of each exercise, using a weight or resistance level heavy enough to tire your muscles after about 12 to 15 repetitions.”

Standing in front of your mirror, wondering why the numbers on your scale won't budge? You're not alone. Millions of Americans struggle with weight loss despite their best efforts. "Most everybody struggles with losing weight. It's not a normal natural thing for our bodies, and sometimes we just struggle knowing where to start," says Dr. Erik Richardson, a board-certified family practice physician.

Ready to discover the biggest obstacles to your weight loss journey? Let's count down the top 10 foods you need to eliminate from your diet to see actual results.

10. High-Calorie Coffee Drinks

Your morning coffee run could be sabotaging your weight loss efforts. "A large mocha cookie crumble frappuccino packs 590 calories, 26 grams of fat, and 76 grams of sugar," Dr. Richardson reveals in his post. Stick to simple coffee preparations to save both calories and money.

9. Pizza

"Pizza is just about the perfect combination of carbs and unhealthy fats," Dr. Richardson warns. Its blend of refined flour, processed meats, and high-calorie toppings makes it easy to overeat. Try cauliflower crust alternatives or make healthier versions at home.

8. Ice Cream

ice-creamShutterstock

While small portions can occasionally fit into a healthy diet, ice cream's high calorie and sugar content make it problematic. Dr. Richardson suggests, "Make your own ice cream using less sugar and more natural ingredients, and serve it in a smaller bowl to control portions."

7. Beer and Alcohol

That "beer belly" isn't a myth. "Beer specifically is much like soda or other sugary drinks," Dr. Richardson explains. Its high carbohydrate content triggers insulin response and promotes weight gain. Consider limiting or eliminating alcohol while pursuing weight loss goals.

6. Pastries, Cookies, and Cakes

These sweet temptations are filled with refined sugars, flours, and oils. "Because they're so high in sugars and low in nutrients, you're more likely to get hungry faster after eating them," Dr. Richardson notes. Many store-bought versions also contain harmful trans fats.

5. Fruit Juice

Close up of teenage woman drinking juice while looking through a window.Shutterstock

Don't let the "healthy" label fool you. Dr. Richardson cautions, "Even 100% juice can hold you back when trying to lose weight." Without the fiber from whole fruit, your body absorbs the sugars too quickly, leading to insulin spikes and potential weight gain.

4. Candy Bars

These convenient treats are far from innocent. "There aren't many other foods that can pack in as many calories in a small package as you find in a candy bar," says Dr. Richardson. Their strategic placement at checkout counters makes them particularly dangerous for impulse purchases.

3. White Bread

Sliced,White,Bread,And,Butter,Shot,From,A,High,AngleShutterstock

"White bread is essentially a chewable version of sugar drinks," Dr. Richardson explains. The processing strips away fiber and nutrients, leaving you with a product that rapidly converts to sugar in your body. Opt for whole grain alternatives and keep portions modest.

2. Sugary Drinks

Consider this: "One can a day of non-diet soda can put on about 10 pounds in the average person in a year," warns Dr. Richardson. The problem? Your brain doesn't register liquid calories as food, making it easy to overconsume without feeling full.

1. French Fries and Potato Chips

"Nothing beats a fresh McDonald's french fry, but it wreaks havoc on your waistline," Dr. Richardson admits. These popular snacks are calorie bombs that quickly convert to sugar in your body. Research shows that potato chips may contribute more to weight gain per serving than any other food.

The Bottom Line

soda, drink,coke,lemonade,pepsi,fountain,drink,fast food, cup,straw,summer,hotShutterstock

These foods share common characteristics: they're highly processed, loaded with added sugars, refined flours, and unhealthy fats. Dr. Richardson emphasizes, "The closer you can get to a whole food diet, the better off you're going to do." While complete elimination isn't necessary, these items should rarely appear in your regular diet.Remember to read nutrition labels carefully and avoid foods with added sugars and fats. Know Your Body Fat: Essential vs. Stored

Brittany WernerCopyright Brittany Werner

Body fat isn't all bad - we need some to survive. There are two types: essential fat (found in bones, liver, kidneys, intestines, and muscles) and stored fat (found in adipose tissue). When we talk about losing body fat, we're usually referring to reducing stored fat to improve our body composition. This is crucial because excess body fat can lead to serious health risks like cancer, diabetes, and heart disease.

Understand How Your Body Stores and Burns Fat

Fat storage, known as lipogenesis, primarily occurs in the liver. Here, excess calories are converted into fatty acids and transported to adipose tissue for storage. To lose body fat, we need to create an energy imbalance by burning more calories than we consume. This process is the cornerstone of effective fat loss.

Identify What's Affecting Your Fat Loss

While energy balance is the primary factor in losing body fat, other elements play a role too. These include genetics, certain medical conditions, medications affecting appetite, societal pressures, sedentary lifestyles, and inadequate sleep. Understanding these factors can help you tailor your approach to fat loss.

Focus on Your Diet First

Brittany WernerCopyright Brittany Werner

When it comes to losing body fat, diet is king. It's much easier to create a caloric deficit through dietary changes than through exercise alone. The most effective approach combines a sustainable, balanced diet with enjoyable physical activity. Remember, fad diets often lead to short-term results and can even be harmful. Instead, focus on long-term, sustainable eating habits.

Create a Safe Calorie Deficit

Nutrition facts. Close-up.Shutterstock

To lose body fat, you need to achieve a calorie deficit. This means consuming fewer calories than your body burns. The safest way to do this is by making small, sustainable changes to your diet and increasing your physical activity. Consult with a nutrition professional, such as a registered dietitian, to establish a nutrition plan tailored to your needs.

Create a Safe Calorie Deficit

While diet is crucial, exercise plays a vital role in fat loss too. Regular physical activity increases your daily caloric burn and builds lean muscle mass, which can boost your resting metabolic rate. A combination of cardio and resistance training is most effective for fat loss. The key is finding activities you enjoy and can maintain long-term.

Mix Cardio and Strength Training for Best Results

Dedicated athletic woman running in nature and dawn.Shutterstock

For optimal fat loss, it's important to balance both cardio and strength training. Cardio helps burn calories during the activity, while strength training builds muscle mass, which increases your metabolism even at rest. Aim to include both types of exercise in your routine, adjusting the balance based on your personal preferences and goals.

Improve Your Lifestyle Habits

Good morning, new day, weekend, holiday. Happy Young Woman sets on Bed, teen Girl Stretching arms after sleep and enjoying morning in cozy comfort bedroom interiorShutterstock

Beyond diet and exercise, several lifestyle factors contribute to successful fat loss. Adequate sleep is crucial, as poor sleep patterns can disrupt hunger hormones and increase stress levels. Managing stress is equally important, as elevated cortisol levels can contribute to increased abdominal fat. Don't forget about hydration and moderate alcohol consumption, too.

Consider Advanced Methods Carefully

Brittany WernerCopyright Brittany Werner

While there are advanced techniques and technologies available for fat loss, remember that the fundamental principle remains a calorie deficit. These advanced methods may offer additional support, but they're not magic solutions. Always consult with a professional before trying any new techniques or technologies.

Overcome Common Fat Loss Obstacles

A man sitting on the bench and looking at the seaShutterstock

Fat loss isn't always smooth sailing. You might encounter plateaus, where progress stalls despite continued efforts. To overcome these, try adjusting your caloric intake, changing up your exercise routine, or incorporating periodic refeeds. Emotional eating triggered by stress or boredom can also hinder progress. Find alternative coping mechanisms and seek support from friends and family. Remember, consistency is key. Working with a nutrition coach can help you establish a realistic, sustainable routine and set achievable goals.

Keep the Fat Off Long-Term

Mechanical weight scale, body mass control concept : Bathroom scale, personal accurate body fat tester / skin fold caliper measurement tool for stomach / belly and measuring tape on blue backgroundShutterstock

The real challenge often comes after you've lost the fat - keeping it off. The key to long-term success is finding a nutrition plan you can stick to consistently and enjoy. Prioritize whole, nutrient-dense foods and regular physical activity. Remember, it's a marathon, not a sprint. Sustainable fat loss is about making lasting lifestyle changes, not quick fixes.

Are you trying to lose weight but aren’t really getting anywhere? According to experts, you might be going about your weight loss journey the wrong way. In fact, even some of the top diet and fitness experts have made weight loss mistakes themselves. Body Network spoke to a few trainers and nutritionists and asked them about the biggest missteps they took on their fitness journeys.

1. Going Overboard with Calorie Counting

CALORIE counting counter application Medical eating healthy Diet conceptShutterstock

While it is good to keep tabs on your food consumption, Risa Sheppard, Master Pilates trainer, creator of The Sheppard Method, advises not to go overboard. “Counting every calorie of every piece of food,” is one of the mistakes she made. “It became time consuming and frustrating.”

2. Starving Your Body of Carbs

Unhappy Woman refusing to Eat her Pizza Dish in a Restaurant. Disgruntled customer not liking the meal sending it backShutterstock

Mr. America Jason Kozma, a personal trainer in Los Angeles, reveals the biggest mistake he made while preparing for a bodybuilding competition. “I had gotten too heavy bulking up to add more muscle mass,” he explains. He spent four months dieting for a spring show “and still didn’t get in shape.” After a short break he reset his goal to a fall show and dove headlong into his diet. “I was using an extremely low carb approach as I felt I had too much fat yet to burn. What I actually did was I starved my muscles of carbohydrates for so long that at the end my body couldn’t assimilate carbohydrates and I couldn’t ‘pump u’ for the show,” he continues. “My body fat measured lower than ever for this show but I didn’t look as good as I had a year and a half prior at a higher body fat level. The net result was that I lost muscle using this approach: I was actually smaller and lighter than I was before the ‘bulk up.’” Note: He still won the show!

3. Doing Too Much Cardio

young sports woman working out, running and feeling tired on treadmill in gymShutterstock

Diet and fitness expert Adita Yrizarry-Lang, ISCA, NASM, ACE, AFAA, reveals that one of the biggest mistakes she made was doing too much cardio. “When I first started in fitness, this was the prescription…do a lot of cardio. The reality is that you burn more calories when you have muscle on your body, combining weights with cardio is the right way to do it,” she says.

4. Not Looking at Serving Size on Packages

Young woman label on pasta package while shopping food in supermarket.Shutterstock

Yrizarry-Lang claims that another mistake is only looking at calories on a package, and not the serving size. “We were mesmerized by the lo-cal labeling on a package,” she says. “Unfortunately, we never looked at the serving size and then came to realize we were ingesting too many calories at a time.”

5. Falling Victim to Low Fat, Highly Processed Foods

Young woman putting goods on counter in supermarketShutterstock

Just because something is low-fat doesn’t make it healthy. Yrizarry-Lang says that some people consume “too many processed carbs, because they are low fat.” While this might be okay for runners, going for 10 to 20 mile runs, “those carbs convert to fat,” for most of us.

Related: Alexia Clark Flaunts Chiseled Midsection and Reveals 3 Ab Mistakes You Are Making

6. Daily Weigh-Ins

point of view - closeup feet for asian woman measure weight on scaleShutterstock

Weighing oneself every single day is another mistake, says Sheppard. “It can be discouraging,” she explains. “Try to weigh yourself less and pay more attention to how your clothes are fitting. Remember muscle weighs more fat so if you are on an intense exercise regime the muscle you gain will trim in less but may not show on the scale.”

7. Crash Diets

I'll eat you tiny pea! Weight loss concept. Close up photo portrait of mad lady's eye looking at small one pea on large big plate on tableShutterstock

If a diet seems too good to be true, it probably is. “The all-time worst” mistake people make is going on crash diets. Why? You might “lose weight at the moment” but you will “gain it back with a few extra pounds,” says Yrizarry-Lang. “This slows down the metabolism and makes it even harder to lose weight at a later date.”

8. Focusing on Exercise for Weight Loss

Exhausted man resting after joggingShutterstock

One of the biggest mistakes people make is “thinking more exercise will cause them to lose weight,” says Sheppard. “80 percent is dieting and 20 percent is exercise,” she reminds.

9. Falling Victim to “Get Thin Fast” Scams

Lots of colorful pills and capsules for different symptoms. Selective focus, noise. Concept of health and medicineShutterstock

Sheppard strongly advises against any products or diet that claim to help with rapid weight loss. “Do not succumb to quick weight loss scams or dangerous pills. Remember Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither is weight loss,” she says.

10. Comparing Yourself to Others

Remember that your fitness journey is your own and “comparing yourself to other people” will “only add to your stress and discouragement,” says Sheppard. “We are all built differently with different bone structure and hereditary genes. Love who you are inside and it will reflect on your outside.”

💪🔥Body Booster: Beware of low-fat, processed foods. Unless you run for 20 miles a day, you should probably pass on a highly processed energy bar – those carbs might convert to fat unless you are working them off.

Do you want to lose weight fast? Getting into a calorie deficit is key, but there are a few ways to maximize weight loss. Mahtab Ekay is a fat loss coach and social media influencer who lost over 20 pounds and helps other people do the same. In a recent social media post, she revealed some things she had learned along the way that could have helped her lose weight faster than she had. “I would lose weight in calorie deficit much faster if only I knew…” she captioned the Instagram video.

You Have to Be in a Calorie Deficit to Lose Fat

First, Mahtab explains that you have to be in a calorie deficit to lose fat. “Which in simplest terms means eating less calories than your body burns,” she says. Calculating this is easy. Subtract how many calories you are burning from your intake. To figure this out, try using one of the many calorie-tracking apps on the internet.

Fruit Is Not Making You Fat

Second, fruit is NOT making you fat, she says. “Yes, it has some sugar content, but it also has lots of nutrients that are good for you. The extra 20 pounds you need to lose is NOT because of fruits,” she says.

You Don’t Need to Do Fasted Cardio

Should you avoid eating prior to doing cardio? “Fasted cardio is not better than unfasted cardio for fat loss,” says Mahtab. “As long as you are in a calorie deficit, you will be losing weight.”

RELATED: I Lost 120 Pounds by Cutting Out These Common Foods I'll Never Eat Again

Low-Intensity Cardio Can Be Just As Effective As HIIT

Is higher-intensity exercise always better than lower-intensity exercise when it comes to fat loss? “High-intensity cardio (HIIT) is not better than low-intensity cardio for fat loss. Both can work,” says Mahtab. “I personally prefer low intensity since it’s much easier to recover from.”

Breakfast Isn’t the Most Important Meal of the Day

Should you fuel up in the morning? Not necessarily, says Mahtab. “Breakfast is NOT the most important meal of the day,” she writes. “Don’t get me wrong, I still believe getting 30g of protein first thing in the morning will massively help yo, but it’s not the only way.”

RELATED: 31 Fitness Tips Every Beginner Needs to Look Sexy, According to Coaches

    Ditch the Green Powder

Lots of influencers promote green powder to get your veggies, but not Mahtab. “Green powders are NOT helping you lose fat. And they definitely are NOT a replacement for vegetables,” she writes.

You Don’t Have to Quit Rice and Bread

No, cutting all carbs isn’t essential for fat loss. “You don’t need to quit eating rice and bread to lose fat. You can enjoy them all, and as long as you are in a calorie deficit, you will be losing fat,” says Mahtab.

RELATED: I Lost 70 Pounds in 8 Months Without Going to the Gym. Here Is How

You Don’t Need to Track Macros

Lots of experts promote counting macros for fat loss, but it’s not essential, says Mahtab. “You don’t need to count your carbs and fats to lose fat. You only need to track your calories and protein,” she writes.

You Don’t Need to Practice Intermittent Fat Loss

And lastly, intermittent fasting isn’t required. “There is nothing special about intermittent fasting for fat loss. It only restricts the window of eating, and you can still lose fat if you manage to eat more calories in that limited window of eating,” she writes.

Struggling to reach your weight loss goals despite your best efforts? You're not alone. Millions of Americans face this challenge daily, even with the newest medical options available. Dr. Jennifer McCann, board-certified in both OB/GYN and Obesity Medicine, has been helping women optimize their health for over 12 years. "I specialize in complete women's care that incorporates total wellness, including considerations in gynecology, hormonal status and weight optimization," says Dr. McCann. Read on to discover how to maximize your results with today's most talked-about weight loss treatments.

    Understanding Weight Loss Injections

Before diving into strategies for success, it's important to understand what these medications actually do. "These injections include medicines like semaglutide, otherwise known as Ozempic, and tirzepatide (Mounjaro)," Dr. McCann explains in her video. While semaglutide has FDA approval for weight loss in certain individuals, Mounjaro is currently approved only for type 2 diabetes—though many patients experience significant weight reduction with both.

According to Dr. McCann, these medications work through several mechanisms: "They inhibit glucagon release which reduces hunger, decrease glucose production from the liver, delay gastric emptying, and reduce appetite." These combined effects lead to what can be substantial weight loss, particularly beneficial for people with limited mobility who struggle with exercise-based approaches.

    Who Should Consider These Treatments?

"These medicines are not for everybody," cautions Dr. McCann. There are important contraindications to consider, including "a personal or family history of thyroid cancer or other endocrine problems or cancers." She emphasizes the importance of discussing your complete medical history with your physician before starting treatment.

Side effects can also occur. "They can cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal cramps," notes Dr. McCann. While these symptoms typically subside after a few weeks of treatment, she acknowledges they can sometimes persist longer.

Making the Most of Your Treatment

Dr. McCann views these medications as a starting point rather than a complete solution. "What I like to tell my patients is to use these medicines to really start your lifestyle change," she says. The initial weight loss provides momentum, but maintaining results requires building healthy habits during treatment.

With that foundation in mind, here are Dr. McCann's top three tips for maximizing your results while on weight loss injections:

Tip 1: Eliminate All Sodas and Sugary Drinks

Refreshing Bubbly Soda Pop with Ice Cubes. Cold soda iced drink in a glasses - Selective focus, shallow DOF.2. Sugary DrinksShutterstock

The single most important dietary change? "Stop all sodas," Dr. McCann states emphatically. This includes not just carbonated soft drinks but all sugary beverages like slushes and sweetened coffee drinks.

The impact is staggering: "Drinking one can of soda can make you gain 15 pounds over one year," Dr. McCann explains. "It's virtually impossible to lose weight and keep it off if you drink soda, especially more than one can daily."

This doesn't mean giving up caffeine altogether. Dr. McCann suggests alternatives: "Coffee is a great alternative, especially either black coffee or mixed with a little bit of stevia. A sugar-free skinny latte is also a great option."

Tip 2: Prioritize Protein with Every Meal

When appetite suppression kicks in, making your limited calories count becomes crucial. "Make sure that when you feel like eating, you get your protein, specifically lean protein," advises Dr. McCann.

There's science behind this recommendation. "Protein is what builds your muscle, and your muscle is what burns calories," she explains. "If you don't take in enough protein, you will lose muscle and won't be able to burn as many calories."

The metabolic benefits are significant: "Protein increases your metabolism by increasing your muscle, and that lets you burn more calories," says Dr. McCann. This creates a virtuous cycle that enhances the medication's effectiveness.

    Tip 3: Incorporate Consistent Exercise

Exercise remains essential, even with powerful medications. "Exercise is very important for weight loss, for keeping the weight off, for your cardiovascular health," Dr. McCann emphasizes. She adds that it "actually is a natural remedy for anxiety because it releases cortisol."

For beginners, Dr. McCann recommends starting small: "If you're just starting out, 20 minutes four times a week through high intensity training, something like HIIT classes, will be just fine." As fitness improves, both duration and intensity can gradually increase.

Those with physical limitations shouldn't despair. "Exercise is still important, but you may need to talk to a personal trainer to see what exercises you specifically can do to help maintain your muscles," suggests Dr. McCann.

These medications offer a valuable opportunity to reset your relationship with food and activity. "Make sure to use this weight loss boost to start your healthy living," Dr. McCann advises, "so that you can lose even more weight and be able to keep it off after you stop the injections."The habits you develop during treatment will determine your long-term success. By eliminating sugary drinks, prioritizing protein, and incorporating regular exercise now, you're building the foundation for sustainable results that last well beyond your final injection. Are you strength training to lose weight? If so, there are a few tweaks you can make to your routine to accelerate the weight loss process. Mahtab Ekay is a fat loss coach and social media influencer who lost over 20 pounds and helps others do the same. In a new post she shares a few of her hacks. “If you are lifting weights and your goal is to lose fat and build muscle at the same time, here are my 7 best tips to make it happen,” she writes.

    Sets: Quality > Quantity

“If you have 3 sets planned for an exercise, those should be 3 working sets. This means they should be close to failure—where you can barely complete the last rep. The real growth happens in the 2-3 reps after you feel like you’re done,” she says.

    Reps: Go Heavy

When it comes to reps, go heavy. “The myth that high reps with lower weight are better for fat loss needs to go. Instead, aim for 8-12 reps with heavier weights. This rep range is ideal for hypertrophy (muscle growth) while also building strength,” she claims.

    Cardio: Time it Right

How you time your cardio makes a difference. “If you want to incorporate cardio, do it after your lifting session or on rest days. Doing cardio before lifting can sap your strength and take away from your ability to give 100% in your strength training,” she says.

    Rest Time: Don’t Rush It

Don’t rush your rest time. “You don’t need to keep your heart rate up during your entire workout. In fact, the opposite is true! Take 1.5-2 minutes to fully recover and lift heavier during your working sets. Quality over speed!” she says.

    Nutrition: Eat Near Maintenance

As for nutrition, eat near maintenance. “To build muscle and lose fat, I recommend eating close to maintenance calories or a slight deficit—not more than a 500-calorie deficit per day. Don’t go into a crazy deficit—it’ll make it harder to maintain your strength and muscle while losing fat,” she says.

    Progressive Overload

“Even if you’re in a slight deficit, you should still aim to get stronger. Try to progressively overload your lifts by adding weight or increasing reps over time. Some lifts like the bench press might be harder to progress, but there are ways around it!” she says.

    Start with Compound Movements

Finally, start with compound movements. “Always begin your workout with compound lifts (squats, deadlifts, bench presses) because they recruit more muscle groups, and since your energy is highest at the start, you can lift heavier and perform better,” she concludes.
