Sharon Osbourne Lost 42 Pounds on Ozempic and Here's What She Wishes She Had Known Before Starting

The celeb couldn’t stop losing weight.

There's an age-old saying that goes, "Hindsight is 20/20"—and it truly is. How many times have you completed a task, and right after you finished, realized you should have done it differently? GLP-1 medications have been around for over 20 years to successfully treat diabetes. Fast-forward to the present day, and GLP-1 drugs are the newest rage for weight loss. There's much to learn, as this is a completely new avenue.

Sharon Osbourne can attest to hindsight and the phrase that's been around forever. The 73-year-old lost 42 pounds on Ozempic and wishes she knew one thing before she started the prescription drug.

Like all GLP-1 weight-loss medications, Ozempic (semaglutide) is a strong drug that channels the natural GLP-1 hormone. It would have to be in order to trick your brain into thinking it's full—when, without the drug, you'd feel hungry. Ozempic also helps regulate blood sugar levels and slows down digestion.

Osborne lost weight rapidly on Ozempic—and she couldn't stop losing it. As a result, the celeb dropped down to 98 pounds and felt it was too much weight loss for her small frame, according to PEOPLE.

"I'm at the point of losing too much that I have to try and maintain," Osbourne told E! in 2023. "In my life, the heaviest I was 230 pounds and I'm now under a hundred. And I want to maintain [my weight] at about 105 because I'm too skinny. But I'm trying to have a healthy balance."

The celeb also shared with Daily Mail the same year, "I'm too gaunt, and I can't put any weight on. I want to because I feel I'm too skinny. I'm under 100 pounds, and I don't want to be. Be careful what you wish for."

She Said She Couldn't Afford To Lose Any More Weight

Osbourne shared a message of caution for those considering weight-loss meds.

"I started on Ozempic last December and I've been off it for a while now, but my warning is don't give it to teenagers, it's just too easy," she told Daily Mail. "You can lose so much weight and it's easy to become addicted to that, which is very dangerous. I couldn't stop losing weight and now I've lost 42 lbs. and I can't afford to lose any more."

In addition to rapid and continual weight loss, Osbourne dealt with some unsavory side effects while taking Ozempic.

"You don't throw up physically but you have got that feeling. I was about two, three weeks where I felt nauseous the whole time. You get very thirsty and you don't eat. That's why I say you have to keep this stuff away from younger people. They will go berserk on it and it's not right," Osbourne shared.
