I Lost 36 Pounds on Mounjaro and Here's the Hidden Eating Habit I Didn't Know Was Sabotaging Me for Years

Embarking on a weight-loss journey teaches you a lot about yourself.

Embarking on a successful weight-loss trek involves determination, motivation, and discipline. Weight loss is truly a learning period of one's self, focusing on your goals and having the desire to accomplish them. Jim Rohn, renowned motivational speaker, author, and entrepreneur once said, "If you really want to do something, you'll find a way. If you don't, you'll find an excuse."

Do you have the mindset to get started? Steve Accardo did. He lost more than 30 pounds using weight-loss drugs—and it involved a mix of hard work, commitment, and efficiently handling obstacles. Achieving his goal taught him something about himself that was a key ingredient for his success.

We spoke with Accardo, and here's his story.

He Dropped 20 Pounds With Ozempic—but Side Effects Were a Major Challenge

Accardo's initial game plan was to lose weight without performing heavy weight training, since his knee pain and Achilles heel issues limited workout options. He lost 20 pounds using Ozempic—and it was a rough start.

"This was my first time using GLP-1s for weight loss and the side effects hit me hard. Nausea and constipation were the worse," Accardo tells us.

He Switched to Mounjaro and Ended up Losing 36 Pounds in Total

Accardo switched to Mounjaro after a few months and started taking MiraLAX to avoid the same side effects. He went from 241 pounds to 205, losing a total of 36 pounds.

There was one key habit he learned throughout his journey. Addressing it enabled him to succeed.

Being on a GLP-1 Helped Him Curb Emotional Eating Habits

"I was an emotional eater. Something I never knew or even thought of. I would eat if I was stressed and unhappy about something. Eating seemed to calm me down during these stressful times. I was really out of control," Accardo tells us.

Emotional eating is exactly what it sounds like—eating in response to feeling certain emotions, including stress and anxiety. This pattern puts many individuals at risk of gaining weight and developing chronic conditions, including type-2 diabetes, cholesterol, high blood pressure, cancer, and more.

He Couldn't Stop Snacking

Accardo admits he snacked before dinner, and had not one—but two servings. And it didn't stop there. He'd add a bowl of cereal topped with whipped cream, and complete his frenzy with a bowl of popcorn.

Being on the prescription meds helped Accardo significantly by curbing his eating habits. At first, nausea halted his overeating, but it also made him think about why he was overeating. It helped him be aware of eating emotionally and kick his bad habits to the curb.

Now One Serving Is Enough

Accardo stopped snacking before dinner and keeps his dinners to just one serving. He currently takes prescription weight-loss drugs for maintenance, which is one or two times each month.
