Kelly Clarkson Lost 60 Pounds and Says Walking and This One Diet Change Made All the Difference

Walking is an extremely beneficial, low-impact way to lose weight—especially when paired with a calorie deficit. Simply lacing up your shoes and heading outdoors on a brisk walk can help you torch calories, lower body fat, and improve your physical and mental well-being. Research shows that you can boost your metabolism by walking 10,000 steps each day, and a brisk 30-minute walk can burn roughly 150 calories.
Have we convinced you to hit the trails yet? We're sharing a perfect walking success story: Kelly Clarkson. The singer lost roughly 60 pounds and says walking, along with one change in her diet, made all the difference for her.
Clarkson Took GLP-1 Medication

On an episode of "The Kelly Clarkson Show," Clarkson revealed that she took a GLP-1 medication after her blood work worsened. The celeb noted that her doctor "chased" her down for about two years.
She Was Nervous About It at First

"I was like, 'No I'm afraid of it, I already have thyroid problems," the singer added. "Everyone thinks it's Ozempic—it's not. It's something else. But it's something that aids in helping break down the sugar. Obviously my body doesn't do it right."
She Weighed 203 Pounds

At her heaviest, Clarkson weighed 203 pounds. The celeb recorded a show for her birthday—and when she streamed it at home, she couldn't recognize herself.
"All of a sudden I paused it, and I was like 'who is f— is that?' You see it and you're like, 'Well, she's about to die of a heart attack,'" she recalled on "The Kelly Clarkson Show."
She Didn't Realize How Much She'd Changed

Clarkson added, "It's a weird thing. … I never saw that. I was never insecure about it. I was happy. People were like, 'Oh, she must not have been happy.' No, I was happy. I just did not see that."
She Moved to NYC and Started Walking, a Lot

Whether you live in New York City or have visited before, you know just how much walking it involves. Conquering those city blocks on a daily basis can serve as an invigorating form of cardio. After making the big move to the Big Apple, Clarkson has experienced this firsthand.
City Walking Became Her Daily Workout

The Grammy winner previously shared, "Walking in the city is quite the workout."
Clarkson also noted she loves "walking to and from work" at 30 Rockefeller Center, along with the city's "beautiful energy" (via PEOPLE).
She Eats "A Healthy Mix"

When on a weight-loss journey, fine-tuning your diet and adopting healthier eating habits is just as important as working out. Clarkson makes sure to consume plenty of protein and describes her diet as "a healthy mix."
She Focuses on Protein Most Days

"I eat a healthy mix. I dropped weight because I've been listening to my doctor—a couple years I didn't. And 90 percent of the time I'm really good at it because a protein diet is good for me anyway. I'm a Texas girl, so I like meat—sorry, vegetarians in the world," she told PEOPLE.
