This Mom Lost 135 Pounds Without Exercise and These Are the Foods She Cut Out

One weight loss warrior gets real about what is preventing you from reaching your goals.

Mayra_Wendolyne_LowCarbLove1

Are you trying to lose weight, but no matter what you do, the pounds aren’t coming off? Mayra (LowCarbLove) is a mother and influencer who lost over 135 pounds β€œnaturally through low carb and keto and has been maintaining this weight ever since,” she reveals in her YouTube bio. In one of her viral videos, she reveals the number one reason why you can’t lose weight and also offers tips on how to get your diet going.

β€œToday, we're gonna be talking about reasons why you may not be losing weight. Now, for those of you who don't know, I've lost over a hundred pounds, and I have been maintaining my weight for over 15 years now. So I kind of know what I'm talking about,” she says. β€œIf you're not currently losing weight, there might be a few reasons. And so I'm gonna go over them with you.”

Assess the Problem

β€œThroughout my journey, there have been times where I'm literally just not losing weight, and I'm like, what is going on? And so then when I sit down, and I really see, okay, what am I doing? What's going on? I always find the problem,” Mayra says in her post.

Avoid Drinking Your Calories

β€œOne thing that I feel is that it's become super trendy and super popular to carry around a Starbucks drink,” she says. β€œI think drinking your calories is one of the worst things you can do.” She notes that some drinks have over 600 calories, which equates to sometimes two meals. β€œI would say if you're gonna do a coffee, it should be for sure under 150 calories because you could definitely be using those calories to fuel and nourish your body.” There are other drinks to look out for. β€œSodas are also horrible,” she says, and juices. β€œSo a lot of people confuse juices. They think, oh, juices are super healthy, and even though our fruits are natural and come with natural sugar, sugars are still not good for you,” she says.

Avoid Sugar, Because It Spikes Your Insulin

β€œSugar, no matter what, even if you're not living a low-carb lifestyle, you just don't want to put a ton of sugar into your body because it spikes your insulin,” she says. β€œWhen you spike your insulin, it is impossible for you to be burning fat. Like there is just no way in order for you to burn fat, especially on your body, your insulin has to be down low, where it's almost at a fasted state.”

Avoiding Carbs Also Keeps Insulin Low

Healthy Food: Best Sources of Carbs on a wooden table. Top viewShutterstock

β€œThat's why when you keep your diet really, really low carb, low carbs means your insulin is very low. With the keto diet, that's the reason why you produce ketones, because when you're doing a keto diet, your insulin is super, super low. So even if you don't do keto if you are trying to lose weight, you just wanna try to keep your sugar and your carbs as low as possible,” she says.

If You Eat Lots of Carbs, Make Sure to Exercise More

β€œAnother reason that you might not be losing weight is the carbs. So again, it gets down to the insulin. When you are eating a lot of carbs, what's happening is your body is running on glucose. So, even if you're having really healthy carbs, it just really depends on your goals. If you want to have a really high-carb diet, then you definitely wanna make sure you are getting your butt into the gym because carbs are gonna help you. If you're really lifting and you're trying to build mass, it doesn't mean you're trying to build fat or get bigger. It just means you can actually bulk up,” she says.

Stick to Whole Carbs

The type of carbs you eat matters. β€œI can have sweet potatoes, and I can have potatoes and squash, and I'm not going to gain any weight. It's definitely when I start to eat the carbs from chips and cookies, and even though they're low-carb chips, cookies, ice cream, all of that, you need to eliminate it if you're trying to lose weight. And that is just the bottom line,” she says.

Avoid Processed Carbohydrates

β€œYou just need to be careful with the processed carbs. And that is a very huge, huge difference. So many people think carbs are carbs, and yes, they are, but your body does not process them the same. If you're gonna be eating carbs, you just want to make sure that they're not processed. You want to make sure that you are having a single ingredient of carbohydrates, like sweet potato, like squash,” she says.

Reduce Fruit Intake for Weight Loss

And, while she loves fruit, β€œI love grapes and cherries and papaya, and I love it and watermelon, and I have it, but it depends on my goal,” she says. β€œThis summer, I ate a lot of fruit, and now I have a mission, I have a goal, and I'm gonna reach it. I've just eliminated fruit from my diet.”

These Are Short-Term Sacrifices for Long-Term Benefits

β€œI want you to remember that these are short-term sacrifices for long-term benefits. And that's just how life works. Sometimes, you just have to sacrifice certain things for a short term, but you're gonna reap the benefits in the end. This is not like a forever thing. And I think when you keep that in mind, and you're like, okay, this is just short term because I have a goal, and I wanna reach it, so this is what I'm going to do.”

You Have to Be in a Calorie Deficit to Lose Weight

β€œThe last thing that I feel is probably the most important thing,” she says, β€œis a calorie surplus. I'm sure you've heard it time and time again, like calories in versus calories out. I don't truly believe that is a hundred percent true. But I will say, just to kind of wrap this up, I think that if you are in a calorie surplus, you are not going to see that scale move.” However, you can sculpt your body and lose fat. β€œIn order to see the scale move down, you have to be in a calorie deficit.” And if you enjoyed this article, take advantage of these 15 Quick Ways to Lose Body Fat Percentage in a Week.

Are your unhealthy habits preventing you from losing weight? According to one expert, you should take a look at yours. Fitness and nutrition coach Alexandra (@alexx.fitt) has amassed a following on TikTok and Instagram by sharing videos about losing 40 pounds. In a recent video, she reveals a few bad habits that she ditched to achieve weight loss success finally. β€œ5 things I stopped doing to lose 40lbs,” she writes in the post.

She Stopped Following Trends

Just because it’s trendy doesn’t mean it will help you lose weight. β€œI stopped following trends,” Alex revealed. β€œThese days, whether it’s running, Pilates Princess is all a trend. You can do it all. The secret is finding what works for you and sticking to it,” she says in her post.

She Stopped Snacking on β€œEverything in Sight”

Snacking isn’t always bad. However, it can be. β€œI stopped snacking on everything in sight. I used to be the person who would have a bite of everything. Little did I know it adds up quickly,” Alex writes.

She Stopped Being Lazy

Sedentary behavior won’t help you lose weight, says Alex. β€œI stopped being lazy. I simply began walking everywhere, taking the stairs instead of the elevator, etc,” she reveals.

She Stopped Setting Strict Goals

Are your diet and fitness goals too rigid? β€œI stopped having strict goals. I used to think I could lose 2 lbs a week consistently. But realistically, your weight will fluctuate, and setting weight goals puts way too much pressure on me,” she writes.

She Stopped Restricting Herself

Crash diets and avoiding food you actually like aren’t the key to losing weight, according to the influencer. β€œI stopped restricting myself and learned how to have portion control. Enjoy dessert in moderation,” she says.

She β€œAte the Same Meals Every Single Day”

So, what did she eat to lose weight? β€œFor 1-2 months, I ate the same meals every single day. Why? Because I was confused, I didn’t know what to eat or where to start, so I ate the same thing every day,” Alexandra confessed in another post.

Here Is Her Weight Loss Breakfast

On her weight loss journey, Alex had two breakfast options. One β€œwould always be oatmeal with a scoop of protein powder and brandy butter,” she reveals. The second? Eggs with turkey bacon, veggies, and a bagel.

Here Is Her Weight Loss Lunch

You don’t have to stick to salads to lose weight, according to Alex. β€œI’d usually eat some type of wrap/ sandwich. I’d add mayo, turkey, ham, salami, cheese, and a bunch of veggies,” she writes.

Here Are Her Weight Loss Snacks

Alexandra had a few go-to snacks while losing weight. β€œI’d have a protein bar, protein shake, fruit, yogurt bowls, bagels with cream cheese, snack plates, and anything I was craving that day. I just made sure it was a decent portion,” she says.

Here Is Her Weight Loss Dinner

For dinner, while losing weight, she β€œwould switch things up” and gravitated toward bowls. She would β€œadd a bunch of lettuce, rice and either ground turkey, chicken, ground beef, any kind of protein and I’d add toppings like tortilla chips, Greek yogurt instead of sour cream, salsa, cheese ugh they’re so good and so filling,” she says. Cam starts with a goal of β€œpaying careful attention” to nutrition.

β€œThe first thing I'm aiming for a daily calorie goal of just 1900 calories, and as crazy as it is to say I actually think my current diet is pretty healthy, so I'm also going to track every food I eat for the next 50 days to figure out where I've been going wrong,” he says

β€œIn my opinion, the most sustainable way to lose weight without tracking calories or stressing out is volume eating. Volume eating is in no means a diet plan. It is actually just a technique,” Nour continues. β€œYou're basically mainly eating large amounts of low-calorie foods, so some examples of that would be like instead of having a cup of rice, you would have a half cup of rice and then a half cup of cauliflower rice,” she says. Another example? β€œInstead of having a whole serving of pasta, you would split it in half and then have zoodles,” she adds, explaining that you would mix in your cauliflower rice with your rice or zucchini noodles with your noodles. β€œYou're eating the same exact amount as you would've, but the calories you're cut in half, and you're allowing yourself to eat much more vegetables, which are good for you,” she says.

Are you struggling to lose weight despite dieting? Ruth Soukup is a midlife health and mindset coach who personally lost almost 50 pounds. She regularly shares her tips and tricks with her hundreds of thousands of Instagram followers. In a new post, she reveals a few mistakes she made and then the one thing she did to fix them. β€œI lost 49 pounds in my 40s when I stopped dieting and started paying attention to this one thing,” she writes in the Instagram video.

She Was Eating Plant-Based, Counting Calories, and Running 3 to 5 Miles Per Day, But Struggled to Lose Weight

β€œI struggled with my weight for ten long years and failed at more diets than I can count. Even though I thought I was doing all the right things,” she writes in the post. What was she doing? β€œEating plant-based,” counting her calories, and β€œrunning 3-5 miles every day.”

At 43, She Decided to Do Something Different

She wasn’t getting the results she wanted. β€œI couldn’t understand why nothing seemed to work or why it felt like my metabolism was just broken. At some point, I started to lose hope. Maybe you can relate. But one day, when I was 43 years old, I finally got so fed up that I decided to do something totally different,” Ruth writes.

She Did Research to Understand β€œThe Science of Weight Loss”

β€œInstead of dieting, I did real research to understand the science of weight loss, especially for women over 40. I wanted to know why we gain weight as we get older and it’s so hard to lose it. I was shocked to discover that weight loss has almost nothing to do with calories and everything to do with HORMONES. That’s it. That’s the secret. The one thing,” she reveals.

She Lost 49 Pounds and Has Kept It Off

β€œI totally changed my focus from counting calories to simply balancing my hormones, to eating the foods that would nourish my body, and creating better habits for a sustainable lifestyle. Ultimately, making that shift is what helped me lose 49 pounds and keep it off, and I’ve now helped thousands of other women over 40 do the same,” she says.

She Stopped Calorie Counting

In another post she discusses other healthy habits that helped her lose weight fast. β€œI struggled with my weight for YEARS, failing at diet after diet, always believing that the problem was ME and my own lack of willpower before I was finally able to lose 49 pounds and actually keep it off. So what was my secret? It was pretty simple, actually. I just focused on my hormones. That meant I committed to stop dieting! No more counting caloriesβ€”instead focused on nourishing my body,” she writes.

She Quit Sugar and Processed Food

She also majorly cleaned up her diet. She eliminated a few things. β€œI detoxed from sugar and stopped eating toxic processed food. It’s the first step in balancing your hormones,” she writes.

She Amped Up Her Protein Intake

She also refocused her diet. β€œI started eating a lot more healthy fat and nutrient-dense protein,” she writes. According to clinical trials, consuming more protein than the recommended dietary allowance not only reduces body weight (BW), but also enhances body composition by decreasing fat mass while preserving fat-free mass (FFM) in both low-calorie and standard-calorie diets.

She Switched From Cardio to Strength Training

She also switched up her approach to exercise. β€œI focused on strength training & building lean muscle mass instead of burning calories through high-intensity cardio,” she writes. According to the Mayo Clinic, strength and weight training help reduce body fat, preserve and increase lean muscle mass, and burn calories more efficiently. Strength training may also help you:

  • Develop strong bones
  • Manage your weight
  • Enhance your quality of life
  • Manage chronic conditions
  • Sharpen your thinking skills

She Focused on a Healthy Lifestyle

Lastly, she looked at the big picture. β€œI didn’t give myself a timeline. I just focused on changing my lifestyle,” she writes. β€œBut I still lost more than 40 pounds in six months, have kept it off for more than 3 years, and now I’ve helped thousands of women do the same.” And if you enjoyed this article, take advantage of these 15 Quick Ways to Lose Body Fat Percentage in a Week.

Are your bad habits preventing you from losing weight fast? Luisana Carrero is a nutrition coach and social media influencer who knows how to lose weight and keep it off from personal experience. In a recent social media post, she reveals that once she ditched six bad habits, the weight fell off. β€œ6 things I stopped doing and I lost 28 pounds in 4 months and kept it off,” she writes over the Instagram video of herself at the gym. β€œThese changes made ALL the difference for me and I hope they help you too.”

She Started Tracking Nutrition

Number one on her list? β€œI stopped guessing my nutrition and started tracking all my food every single day (including the weekends) to ensure I was in a deficit so I could get in and out. My goal wasn’t to stay in a deficit forever; I wanted to lose fat, reach my goal, and then transition to maintenance after,” she says in the video.

She Cut Down on Alcohol

She also stopped drinking her calories. β€œI cut back on drinking from 4-5 drinks every weekend to only on special occasions,” she reveals.

She Stopped Focusing on Calories

β€œI stopped focusing just on calories and started prioritizing my food quality. I transitioned from eating anything that β€˜fit my macros’ to prioritizing lean proteins, complex carbs, and healthy fats - opting for real, high-quality foods. This kept me fuller longer and made the fat loss easier,” she said about her third habit.

She also started moving more. β€œI stopped sitting most of the time (because I have a desk job) and made walking a non-negotiable: Every single day, I was hitting 10k steps. I did this by going on walks and using my treadmill at home.

She Stopped Going to the Gym Without a Plan

She also got more focused on exercise. β€œI stopped going to the gym without a plan and started following a workout program, lifting weights at least 4x per week,” she says.

She Stopped Spending Time with People Who Didn’t Support Her Goals

Also, She Recommends Eating Lots of Protein

In another post, she stresses the importance of eating high-protein foods. β€œAs a general guideline, if your goal is to lose fat, aim to consume .8-1.2g of protein per lb of target body weight a day,” she says, recommending the following:

  • Spend 5 mins in the morning planning what you’ll eat.
  • Cook protein in bulk to quickly put meals together in less than 5 minutes.
  • Start your day with at least 30g protein, this helps control hunger levels, decrease cravings and it makes it easier to reach your protein goal.
  • Opt mainly for lean protein sources for higher volume, fewer calories, and more protein per serving.

Here Are Some Food Ideas

She recommends the following high protein foods in order to β€œ140g of protein in a day and make fat loss easier.”

  • Non-Fat Plain Greek Yogurt: β€œI prefer plain Greek yogurt for lower calories and more protein. 200g Greek yogurt provides 22g of protein. I add stevia, peanut butter and frozen blueberries to mine, I eat that for dessert every night,” she says.
  • Chicken breast: β€œ130g of cooked chicken breast will give you 40g of protein. I cook it in bulk and use it to make many different meals like grilled chicken sandwiches, tacos, salads, bowls,” she explains.
  • 96/4 Lean Ground Beef: β€œ140g of cooked ground beef provides 40g of protein. I cook it in bulk and make burger patties or use it for my pasta,” she says.
  • Egg whites: β€œ200g of liquid egg whites will give you only 108 calories and 22g of protein. You can add liquid egg whites to your full eggs for more protein and more volume. I mix a cup of egg whites with 2 full eggs, or use it for my french toast or my pancakes,” she explains.
  • Fat Free Cottage Cheese: β€œA serving of cottage cheese gives you 13g of protein. You can add it to your eggs, eat it with fruits or add it to your salads,” she adds.

And, You Can Lose Weight Eating Carbs

In another post she explains that she previously thought she β€œhad to cut out carbs to lose weight,” she wrote. But that left me feeling hungry, craving them even more, tired and unable to focus. Until I learned this: You can lose weight while eating carbs. The key is to choose high-quality carbs and monitor your intake to stay in a calorie deficit.”

Top 5 Carbs

β€œCarbs are not essential for your body like fats and protein but they are our bodies preferred source of energy especially when you’re working out because they help you maximize your performance and recover from those workouts,” she continues. β€œEat carbs as a part of a well-balanced diet and use them for energy, recovery, stress reduction, sleep and because you enjoy them. The amount to consume will vary for each individual based on your daily activity, stress levels, training intensity.” She goes on to list her β€œtop 5 during a fat loss phase.”

  • Potatoes: β€œOne of my favorite foods to cook in bulk. I make them in the air fryer and it only takes 25 mins. They are perfect to have on hand for a quick lunch, I like eating them with lean ground beef patties,” she says.
  • Fruits: β€œEspecially berries and apples,” she writes. β€œBerries are full of fiber and antioxidants. I add frozen berries to Greek yogurt or smoothies. Apples are my go-to pre-workout snacks.”
  • Whole grain bread: β€œThis is the one I use to make my high protein french toast,” she says.
  • Whole wheat tortillas: β€œQuick and easy option, love using whole wheat tortillas for homemade little pizzas or turkey wraps,” she explains.
  • Rice: β€œAnother one I always cook in bulk. I use it to make my homemade chipotle bowls.”

Are you thinking about going on the keto diet? Lots of people claim that the low-carb way of eating has helped them lose tons of weight. Mayra Wendolyne (@LowCarbLove) is a keto devotee and weight loss influencer who lost 130 pounds on the diet. β€œToday I'm going to be telling you about my journey, how long I've been keto, low carb, the whole nine,” she says at the start of the clip. Here is exactly how she did it.

She Learned About Keto From a Friend

β€œLet's talk about my story,” she says. β€œA lot of people always ask me how I found out about keto because I actually started keto before it became a trend before it was all trendy and viral and everything.” She explains that a friend of hers, who β€œhad always dealt with weight issues,” was introduced to the low-carb lifestyle” and ended up doing β€œmore of a carnivore keto diet.”

She explains that a lot of his diet consisted of ribeyes with eggs, meats, β€œa protein style burger with no tomato, no onion,” she says. β€œIt was just a very carnivore focused, keto lifestyle.” After not seeing him for three months, he sent her a photo and he had lost 70 pounds.

She Learned It Was Similar to Atikins

β€œAfter that, I just started looking more and more into it, and I realized that it was somewhat like the Atkins diet, and I was like, β€˜Oh my gosh.” She tried it for a week, lost 10 pounds, and was β€œsold after that.”

She Loves It Because She Is Willing to Sacrifice Carbs

β€œI was like, keto is for me because I love veggies, and I love my proteins. And so I was willing to sacrifice the carbs – the rice, the pasta, the bread – in order to have those satiating fats that are so delicious and especially that gave me the results that I saw. So I was sold.”

β€œSo a lot of you guys wonder how long have I been keto? So the answer is I have been on keto for about five years now, and I have been living a low-carb lifestyle for over ten years,” she reveals.

She Topped the Scale at 315 and Lost 135 Pounds

β€œI originally started my journey at about 315 pounds. I've lost a total of 135 pounds,” she reveals. However, she admits that she goes up or down β€œ10 pounds here or there, not gonna lie.”

You Have to Be Mindful of Snacks

β€œI'm always just snacking and things like that. So, of course, if you are on a weight loss journey, you always have to be mindful and keep in mind that you have to eat to your goals, right? So even if something is keto, it doesn't mean that you go and eat like a whole box of cookies just because they're low carb or keto,” she says.

You Also Need to Be Calorie Conscious

β€œYou need to be mindful, you need to be calorie conscious, because no matter what, in order for you to lose body fat and weight, you need to be in a calorie deficit. In order to lose weight, you need to be in a calorie deficit,” she points out.

You Can Build Muscle Without Being in a Deficit

β€œYou can lose body fat and convert it into muscle while not being in a calorie deficit. But you're, you're not gonna see the scale go down,” she points out.

She Lost 100 Pounds Twice

β€œSo I have actually lost a hundred pounds twice in my life,” she continues. β€œSo the first time I lost a hundred pounds in my first year, I was super, super strict. I was working out twice a day. I was in between a low-carb diet and severe calorie restriction, which is not what I recommend at all. It's actually really unhealthy. You mess up your metabolism; you slow it down.”

The Second Year It Was Harder to Lose Weight

She lost 100 pounds the first year and 35 the second. β€œRemember, the closer you get to your goal weight, the harder it is for that weight to come off,” she says. However, β€œit was really, really difficult for me to keep that weight down. But I did it because I was always just so worried about being skinny or trying to be skinny. So, like my whole life, that's what was going through my head. I'm just so happy to be out of that mentality now.”

After Having a Baby, She Discovered Atkins

The second time she lost 100 pounds was after she had a baby. β€œEveryone was telling me like, β€˜It's over for you. You're not gonna lose that weight.’” This was when she discovered Atkins. β€œI thought it was like the weirdest thing ever because you can eat bacon and mayonnaise, meats and cheese, and everything that, basically, for 15 years, I was programmed to be afraid of. All of a sudden, it was like what you could do to lose weight.”

She Lost Weight Fast with Low-Carb, Low-Fat Eating

She tried it for a week and lost weight, starting with low-carb, low-fat, not incorporating bacon and mayo, losing 100 pounds in 6 months. β€œIf you're not putting fats into your body, your body is going to burn your own fat,” she says.

Then, Embraced Higher Fat Foods

Then she switched to low carb, β€œbut I did high fats,” she says, which included salmon and meats, ground beef, and avocado.

In General, She Doesn’t β€œGo Super, Super Crazy on Fats”

β€œSo, for me personally, I have lived a keto lifestyle focused on protein and healthy fats. So I don't go super, super crazy on fats. Like, I'm never the person who’s gonna add a ton of butter to my steak. I just usually have a steak with some veggies and add maybe a little bit of butter, like a cream sauce, things like that. But I'm not like the one that's going to pour butter and coconut oil and, you know, things like that into my coffee.”

She Tracks Her Carbs, Not Calories

β€œI'm still very calorie conscious, and I track my carbs versus calories. But I don't have to worry about that so much because I'm just naturally conscious of what I'm having and mindful,” she says.

She Lives a Keto Lifestyle

β€œSo now I am currently living a keto lifestyle. I am a little more flexible with what I do. I don't weigh myself, I just kind of go gauged off of how my clothes are fitting me,” she says.

She Also Does Intermittent Fasting

β€œI am actively trying to intermittent fast a lot more and be more strict because that's kind of how I maintain my weight. I intermittently fast, and I don't like to track a lot,” she says. β€œSo what I do is I fast and once I eat, I sit down and eat like a big meal or even like two small meals or medium-sized meals.”

Body Network’s Expert Weighs In on Keto

While most experts agree that the keto diet will result in quick weight loss, many maintain it is not sustainable. β€œKetogenic diets should not be followed long term,” says Body Network’s Resident RDN, Tara Collingwood, MS, RDN, CSSD, LD/N, ACSM-CPT, a Board Certified Sports Dietitian and co-author of the Flat Belly Cookbook for Dummies. β€œYour body needs carbohydrates, specifically from fruits, vegetables, and whole grains for overall health but especially digestive health and disease prevention.”

As for intermittent fasting, it works by β€œprolonging the period when your body has burned through the calories consumed during your last meal and begins burning fat,” explains Johns Hopkins Medicine. β€œIntermittent fasting is also not a guarantee of weight loss, and often people see plateaus and weight gain after a period of time of intermittent fasting,” notes Collingwood.

Are you trying to lose weight? There’s a good chance you are overcomplicated it, according to one expert. Riva Siggins is an online coach who β€œloves food and movement.” She regularly shares tips on the best ways to burn fat and build muscle with her hundreds of thousands of followers. In a new post, she breaks down how to keep weight loss simple. β€œThese tips may sound simple but often fat loss is over complicated. Nail the basics and you’ll get results,” she writes.

Eat Lots of Protein

Her first tip has to do with diet. β€œMake protein your best friend,” she writes. β€œNot only will it help you retain more muscle as you lose body fat which will contribute to a leaner physique but it is also the most filling macronutrient so will be sticking to a deficit easier.” To get enough protein she adds a scoop of protein powder to her oats so she starts the day with 20 grams. β€œUtilise lean protein sources as well such as chicken breast, beef mince, turkey means and white fish,” she says.

Prioritize Sleep

Next, get enough rest. β€œStop underestimating how important sleep is. Lack of sleep can increase hunger as your hormones ghrelin and leptin which send signals to your brain telling you when you’re hungry/satiated don’t work as efficiently when you’re sleep deprived and this can result in your feeling hungrier, food focus being higher and more cravings which can make sticking to a deficit a LOT harder,” she writes.

Lift Weights and Do Cardio

Next, prioritize weight training while utilizing cardio β€œas a tool instead of solely doing cardio,” she explains. β€œWeight training will help you maintain more muscle so as you drop body fat you won’t just get smaller and flatter, you’ll maintain shape and have a lean, strong looking physique. Cardio can be utilized to help increase your output but if you just do cardio you’ll lose a lot of muscle which you don’t want.”

Consume Whole Foods

Next, prioritize whole foods. β€œ200 calories of potatoes is going to give you a lot more volume compared to 200 calories or chocolate, include the foods you enjoy in moderation of course as this’ll help you stick to it but if you’re sensible with your food selection you’re going to feel like you’re eating a lot and by prioritizing food sources such as complex carbs, lean protein and fruit/veg you will be left feeling fuller for longer too,” she says.

Take It One Day at a Time

Her last tip to simplify weight loss? β€œOne day at a time,” she suggests. β€œIf you go over your calories or have a day where you fall off track so what? Just pick yourself up a go day, it isn’t about perfection every day it’s about consistency over time.” And if you enjoyed this article, don't miss12-3-30 Walking Method: 20 Proven Tips to Lose Weight Faster.

Do you want to lose weight fast while healing your gut? Amanda Borchardt is a cortisol expert and coach who lost 35 pounds when she finally β€œcracked the code” to cortisol and adopted certain habits that helped her keep her hormones under control. In a new social media post, she reveals five habits that enabled her to lose weight fast and transform her look. β€œHow to become unrecognizable in the next 6 months,” she writes across the video. β€œI started with these habits and a cortisol balancing, gut healing supplement that helped me lose 35 pounds in 4 months and gained back all my lost energy from high cortisol!” she added.

Hydrate

Her first habit has to do with hydration. β€œDrink your body weight in ounces,” she writes. How much water should you drink? According to the U.S. National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, men should drink about 15.5 cups (3.7 liters) of fluids daily and women about 11.5 cups (2.7 liters). The Mayo Clinic explains that hydration helps eliminate waste through urination, perspiration, and bowel movements, keeps your temperature regular, lubricates and cushions joints, and helps protect sensitive tissues.

Walk and Lift Weights

Her second habit is two different workouts. β€œ10,000 Steps per day & lifting,” she says. A 2018 study published in Obesity found a link between walking 10,000 steps a day and weight loss and weight management. Other studies published by the Journal of American Medical Association (JAMA) in JAMA Neurology and in JAMA Internal Medicine also linked walking 10,000 steps a day to less dementia and less cardiovascular disease overall, with less heart disease, less heart failure, and fewer strokes. As for strength training, Mayo Clinic explains that it can help reduce body fat, preserve and increase lean muscle mass, and burn calories more efficiently. It may also help you:

  • Develop strong bones
  • Manage your weight
  • Enhance your quality of life
  • Manage chronic conditions
  • Sharpen your thinking skills

Amp Up Your Protein Intake

Also, amp up your protein intake. β€œIncrease your protein intake to (30 to 40g per meal),” she suggests. According to clinical trials, consuming more protein than the recommended dietary allowance not only reduces body weight (BW), but also enhances body composition by decreasing fat mass while preserving fat-free mass (FFM) in both low-calorie and standard-calorie diets.

No Processed Food or Sugar

When it comes to diet, it’s not just about how many calories you eat, but what types of food, she says. β€œCut out processed food/sugar,” she writes. Examples include anything made with white flour or sugar, packaged snacks, candy, or fast food.

Walk Barefoot Outside

Her fifth tip is unconventional. β€œWalk outside barefoot & daily get sunlight,” she writes. Vitamin D helps cells in your gut absorb bone-healthy nutrients calcium and phosphorus.

Consume Gut-Healing Herbs

Her last tip is to β€œadd in natural herbs that not only heal your gut but help balance your cortisol,” she writes. β€œWhen I added it in the correct supplements, my weight loss journey skyrocketed after years of not being able to lose anything!” And if you enjoyed this article, don't miss40 Health Symptoms That Can Be More Serious Than You Think.

Are you curious about what to expect after achieving your weight loss goals? You might be surprised what it is like, says one weight loss warrior. Emily Christensen is a social media influencer who lost 60 pounds after undergoing weight loss surgery and adopting a healthy lifestyle. She regularly shares tips and tricks with her followers about how she did it. In a new post, she reveals the truth about being overweight and thin. β€œSome brutal honesty from who has spent the majority of her life feeling fat and longed to be skinny,” she writes in the Instagram post.

When You Lose Weight, More Problems Surface

The first truth? You might find underlying problems after slimming down. β€œWhen you’re over weight that’s the only problem you want to solve. Once you lose the weight you realize how many underlying things are going on that have *actually* been causing issues. I’m talking relationships, spending, parenting,” she says.

Being Skinny Doesn’t Mean You Are Healthy

The second thing she learned? β€œBeing skinny doesn’t mean you’re healthy,” she says. β€œWhen I was at my lowest weight I had lost a lot of muscle. Rebuilding that is kind of scary but I know it’ll serve me when I’m a fit grandma.”

Weight Loss Is Mental

Her third truth is that weight loss is mental. β€œThere are a lot of tools out there that can help! But they’re still just tools. I have to talk to myself a LOT to remind myself I didn’t suddenly gain back 60+ pounds,” she writes.

You Might Still Be Obsessed with Your Weight

She goes onto explain that obsession with your weight might not end. β€œBefore I lost weight I was really obsessed with losing weight. Now that I’ve lost weight I have times where I’m really obsessed with keeping it off. Not out of vanity but out of fear. I never want to go back to feeling how I did for so many years,” she writes.

Your Loved Ones Might Not Be On Board with Your New Lifestyle

Another truth? β€œNo one cares about your journey as much as you do. Meaning…it’s not anyone’s job to eat what you eat. Or exercise with you. Your spouse/partner may or may not be on board with your new lifestyle. It’s up to you to buy and prepare the right foods and find the time to exercise,” she says.

Being Skinny Won’t Give Your More Self-Worth

Finally, getting thin won’t solve your self-esteem problems. β€œBeing skinny isn’t going to give you more self worth. It might help you love your body more and appreciate what it’s done for you…but β€˜skinny’ isn’t an attribute that very many people use when they talk about why they love someone,” she concludes.
