Hilary Downey, who has a BS in Nutrition and Psychology, lost a whopping 100 pounds. On her social media account, she regularly shares tips and tricks on how to burn fat and shift your mindset so you too, can become the healthiest version of yourself. In a recent post, she revealed how to slim down in just two months.

“Exactly what I’d do (hint: this is the exact plan I used to lose 100 pounds and that we teach our clients😎),” she wrote in the caption of the Instagram post, showing off her massive fat loss in a pair of her old jeans.

“The holidays are a time when many women choose to be more relaxed, so what if you spent the next ten weeks (leading up to Thanksgiving) dialed in on seeing real progress? You could look amazing in family photos and your cute holiday outfit, have the energy to get through the festivities, and feel strong and healthy and balanced in your body!” Here is how to do it, plus everything else you should know about her approach,

Food Logging and Calorie Tracking

Keeping track of your food is key, says Hilary. “I would get serious and consistent with logging my food, having calorie awareness, and staying within my calorie deficit consistently. This is the absolute baseline foundation for fat loss! Logging is the fastest track to get you there - period. Less guessing, higher accuracy = better, faster results,” she writes in the post.

Amp Up Your Protein Intake

Getting enough protein is key, she continues. “I’d go hard on hitting my protein target and making sure I was pre-logging my protein for the day so that I had success here no matter what. Aka, no, ‘hoping I hit my protein.’ Alongside that, I’m loading up on volume veggies that are filling for fewer calories so I can make sure I achieve #1. No skimpy little pieces of lettuce, fiber-rich options filling that plate!” she writes.

Be Disciplined

Discipline is “one is most important,” according to Hilary. “Holidays are coming where there will be plenty of parties & indulgences. Now is THE time to dial it in. If you’re saying you want to get serious & you’re frustrated by your lack of progress but you’re constantly allowing yourself to excuse ‘taking the day off’ - time to turn the heat up,” she writes. “We teach balancing in these fun days as a part of our fat loss framework in our programs, but they don’t work if you’re abusing the system! Discipline, setting boundaries, and picking when it’s truly worth it are key.”

Take Progress Photos

She also recommends taking progress photos. “We don’t just measure scale progress around here. We regularly take progress pictures (every 3-4 weeks) and measurements and assess our clothing. If none of these are improving, it’s time to fix the problem. So many women think their macros or calories ‘don’t work’ when, in reality, they just need to go through our checklist to determine if they need an adjustment or to adhere to the plan better. Adjust when needed and take action,” she writes.

Don’t Drink Your Calories

Hilary explained to Today that in order to lose weight, she had to stop drinking her calories. “I realized you can eat your entire day’s calorie allowance in one sitting,” she said. She upped her water intake and swapped her regular Coke for Coke Zero.

Set Small Goals

She set small, manageable goals. “Each week, I used goal setting, where I focused on these small bite-sized nutrition goals,” she said. And slowly, over time, her changes built up: “I look at my diet now, and I would have never guessed that I’d be eating the foods that I eat now and be satisfied with them.”

Exercise

She added in some exercise. At first, a slow walk pushing her baby in the stroller was all she could manage. “That led to walking faster and longer and eventually to running. I’ve run lots of 5Ks, and I started strength training in my garage,” she said.

Focus on Sustainability

Hilary warns against “giving into temporary quick fixes” and instead, focusing on the long-term. “If there is one thing that feels SO dang good - it is knowing I got to the root of my overeating and self-sabotage, and truly fixed my mindset and adopted a balanced, flexible diet that I can do for life - and therefore, I’ll never have to go finding another solution again! In fact, it feels more than good. It’s life-changing,” she wrote in a post, adding that “long-lasting success” is the goal. “When you get to the root of it all, and you truly transform your mindset, and therefore truly transform your habits and lifestyle - THAT is where you get assurance.”

Be Accountable

“The uncomfortable truth in transforming your body and life that you need to hear” is that you need to give yourself tough love, according to Hilary, who says that “accountability” is key and an “act of self-love.” “This is an important conversation, and we need to have it now so that we can get you moving forward and seeing the results you want.”

Manifestation

Manifestation is another “game changer,” per Hilary. “I used manifestation to change my thoughts and rewire my brain to see myself as the future version of myself that I wanted to become. I got clear on what that woman looked like, how she thought, what her daily life looks like, what habits she had, etc., etc. and then I acted on it! I used other manifestation tools to transform my mindset, which transformed my life!” she says. Indya Ago Lost 120 Pounds by Learning How to Have a “Balanced” Approach to Food

@indyaagos

Something I tell my clients when they first start coaching with me is that in order for these results to be sustainable we have to create balance. when I first started my weight loss journey, I used to restrict myself so much, I would demonize so many different kinds of foods that diet culture had brainwashed me, and into believing were the reason why I wasn’t able to reach the results I was looking for. Which just led me to cycles of binging, and creating a very unhealthy relationship between nutrition and my body. Through proper education on macronutrients, I was able to heal this relationship. And this is how I help my clients and maintain their goals as well. Education is power. WIEIAD DEETS: 💚 breakfast: protein, pancakes, egg, white scramble, turkey bacon 💚 snack: fruit, salad, and protein smoothie 💚 lunch: birria tacos + veg 💚 dinner: seafood boil Babe, if you’re ready to finally create a lifestyle transformation that’s sustainable while still eating all of the foods that you enjoy, I would love to work with you. She “Started Slow” and Learned “Self-Trust”

@indyaagos

If you wanna lose 80 pounds next year, I’m gonna tell you exactly how to do it! No gatekeeping the secret to success here. The number one thing that you need to get clear on, is the amount of time it’s going to take you to achieve your goal, the amount of effort required for you to get there, and, of course, why it’s so important to you. Setting a realistic expectation for yourself, while also simultaneously connecting with your why is the first step to create the foundation. You need to be successful through 2024. When you understand that this journey is going to take time, it’s going to require sacrifice, it’s going to require you stepping so far out of your comfort zone, that you may be paralyzed by fear at times. But being okay with the discomfort. Surrendering to knowing that in those moments of uncertainty, in those moments of insecurity, and discomfort, are facilitating growth. Connecting with knowing that, allowing yourself to grow, is what is going to help you reach your goals. And not only reach your goals, sustain those achievements. Baby, 2024 can be your year, and the first thing that you need to do, is get your mindset right. Know why you’re on this journey, know what you need to do to get from point A to point B, and set yourself up for success. Start building the mindset, habits, and routines into your daily life now in order to be successful 2024. and if you’re ready to take the next step, you’re ready to invest in yourself. I’m now accepting applications for January. The link is in my bio let’s get to work!🤘🏽 #weightlosstransformation #weightlosstips #weightlossjourney #weightlossgoals #weightlosscoach #weightlosshelp #weightlosschallenge #fatlosstips #fatlossjourney #nutritiontips #mindsetcoach #newyearsresolution #newyearnewme #nutritioncoach #fitnesscoach

In another video, Indya reveals another tactic that helped her lose so much weight. “You got to start slow,” she says. “If you approach this from an all or nothing mentality, you are only setting yourself up for failure. A big part of this journey is regaining self-trust. You are so used to letting yourself down. The way that you build trust with yourself again is by following through with the promises that you've made to yourself.”

And Took a Deep Dive Into Her Failed Attempts at Weight Loss

Another thing she did is “going to require you to dig deep,” she says. “We need to figure out what your main excuses or your repeated point of failure chances are. You've been stuck in the same exact cycle, repeating the same narratives as to why you haven't been able to be successful in the past. If your story is that you never have any time, then we need to figure out why you're not prioritizing making time. People make time for what's important to them. If the story is that you are overwhelmed and you have no idea where to start, then it is time to reach out for help so that you have a plan of action as well as guidance.”

Raven Norwood Lost 165 Pounds By Cutting Processed Foods From Her Diet

Raven_Norwood_rowwithraven1rowwithraven/Instagram

Raven Norwood, 28, of Huntington Beach, California, started her weight loss journey at 212 pounds and has managed to drop down to 155 pounds, losing 165 pounds in two years. In an interview with Body Network, she explains that she used to eat food containing several dyes, fast food, and packaged food with GMOs, too much MSG, and preservatives. While she didn’t eliminate “any specific food groups because balance is the key to longevity,” she did cut the above from her diet and started cooking her own meals “as much as possible.” Creating healthy relationships with all food groups is so important when it comes to keeping the weight off, she stresses. “Balance is key, so, if I want a cookie here and there, I eat the cookie… no biggie!”

She Also Amped Up Her Water Intake

Raven adds that “lots of water” keeps her hydrated and feeling full. According to the Mayo Clinic, hydration is important for a variety of reasons. Water helps get rid of waste through urination, perspiration, and bowel movements, keeps your temperature normal, lubricates and cushions joints, and helps protect sensitive tissues.

She Fell in Love with a Boutique Fitness Method

Raven_Norwood_rowwithraven4raven.grl/Instagram

Raven also encourages finding a fitness form that you love. She discovered rowing at her local Row House. “I love how boutique and specialized gyms are getting more recognition! When I first found Row House, I had never seen a gym dedicated to rowing,” she says. “And on top of that you get floorwork exercises, group fitness and the wonderful community that comes along with it! I think a lot of people would benefit from boutique gyms.”

She Took Progress Pictures

Raven_Norwood_rowwithraven6raven.grl/Instagram

Progress photos were also an important part of Raven’s weight loss journey. “Sometimes your mind will play tricks on you, and make you feel like you haven’t done as much as you have,” she says. If she feels discouraged, she will look at her “Day 1” photo and it will provide instant motivation. “Take photos because your mind will play tricks on you, but those photos won’t,” she says.

Dils Less Lost 50 Pounds by Not Drinking Coffee on an Empty Stomach

Dils Lee (@dilshealth) lost 50 pounds by making a few simple lifestyle habit changes, which not only aided in weight loss, but were a game-changer in her overall health, especially with her inflammation and hormonal imbalance. One of the first changes that she made? “I stopped drinking coffee on an empty stomach and started making my breakfast look like this,” she said. “Drinking coffee on an empty stomach can lead to bloating, nausea, and anxiety, and it can also raise your cortisol levels, which can negatively impact ovulation weight and hormonal imbalances.”

She Also Switched From HIIT to Low Intensity Workouts

You don’t have to do HIIT workouts to lose weight. The second change that she made “was stopping all high intensity training while I was losing weight,” she said. “I found that I harbored a lot of inflammation in my face, arms, body, stomach, and legs everywhere.” Instead, she opted for lower intensity training. “Basically, by switching to lower intensity workouts, I've found that my waist has drastically come in. My stomach is much more flat, and I'm actually building a lot of tone and muscle in my arms and legs,” she says.

And, She Prioritized Sleep

“The fourth change that I made is that I introduced a healthy sleep routine,” Dils reveals. “My routine includes using supplements like magnesium and then not using my phone an hour before bed. Prioritizing sleep will help your body recover after physical activity. It'll also help with hormone regulation, metabolic regulation, stress and emotional wellbeing.” What are the health benefits of sleep? According to the Sleep Foundation, getting enough z’s is a mood booster, promotes heart health, regulates blood sugar, improves mental function, restores your immune system, helps relieve stress, and aids in weight loss.

He does “harder” push ups, he says. “It's not enough to just do as many as you can and do them fast. Once you feel comfortable doing pushups, once you feel like you've kind of got it down, you have to start making it harder for yourself,” he explains. “The resistance is what builds the strength, right?

Alexandra Lost 40 Pounds by Eating the Same Meals Every Day

Online fitness coach Alexandra (@alexx.fitt) personally lost 40 pounds by eating the same meals daily. “For 1-2 months I ate the same meals every single day why? Because I was confused I didn’t know what to eat or where to start so I ate the same thing everyday,” Alexandra confesses in the caption of her video.

She Also Walks 10,000 Steps a Day

In another video she reveals that walking 10,000 steps a day was also key. “I weigh around 150lbs so walking 10k steps burns an extra 300-400 calories a day without spending hours on the stair master,” says Alexandra. “Walking can be done anywhere you don’t have to get fancy gym clothes you can literally walk in your pjs,” she adds. And, it helps regulate hunger. “Walking is not an extremely difficult exercise and it can help regulate your appetite hormones and reduce feelings of hunger,” she says.

David Tuckfield Lost 60 Pounds EMS Workouts

David_Tuckfield7David Tuckfield

David Tuckfield, 61, dropped 60 pounds and reduced his body fat by 23 percent in 16 months by incorporating electro muscle stimulation (EMS) workouts into his routine, which he discovered at BODY20. “I was very skeptical when I first tried the EMS workouts. I was shocked after my demo workout how much I felt a difference,” he told Body Network. “For me, the amazing thing about the EMS workouts to me is that I can actually feel or sense my muscles. That was something that I had never experienced. At first I could feel them only during the workouts, but now when I exert myself I can discern which muscles are engaged. I don’t have huge or impressive muscles, but that I am more in-tune with the muscles I have. It is a good feeling to feel your muscles engage when you do an activity.” Another “great thing” about the workout “is that you really get a full workout (or better) in 20 minutes,” he says.

He Also Set Long-Term Goals

David_Tuckfield5David Tuckfield

He also started looking at weight loss as a long-term goal. “Don’t think short term. Think of it as a very long journey,” he suggests. “You will plateau, and you should just be comfortable with that. If you don’t stress out about the plateaus, you will eventually work through them.” Daily weigh-ins also helped him. “If you’ve gained weight, ask yourself what you did yesterday that would have made you gain weight. Usually the answer is obvious,” he says.

Google, TDEE calculator. From there, put in your information. I'm gonna tell you exactly how many calories you need to eat. I ate about 1600 to 1800 calories daily, just depending on my activity level for the day. If I did two workouts that day, I would eat closer to 1800. If I had a more sedentary day, I would eat closer to 1500 to 1600.” She also followed a meal plan. “I have a seven day meal plan available at the top of my profile. It just makes it really easy when you're going to a grocery shop, when you're first starting out, when things are structured, it's gonna make it a lot easier to follow and just to stay consistent, not skipping breakfast, especially if we're exercising.”

If you have a lot of weight to lose, it can seem hopeless and impossible. However, Samantha Costa, a 23-year-old influencer, lost a whopping 60 pounds in 3 months. In a viral YouTube video, she explains exactly how she did it, and a lot of it had to do with shifting her perspective and overall approach to weight loss.

Losing 60 Pounds in 6 Months with PCOS

Samantha_CostaSamantha Costa/YouTube

She starts with her backstory: In 2018 she was diagnosed with PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome), which resulted in weight gain. “I fluctuate weight a lot and it also affects my periods. With that being said, because I was diagnosed with PCOS, I put on a lot of weight very fast, and it wasn't a type of weight that was healthy,” she said. Costa, who is five-foot-one, topped the scale at around 200 pounds. “Being in a place where I knew I wasn't healthy was really scaring me.” At the time she was able to drop 50 to 60 pounds in “five to six months” by going to Orangetherory and eating right. “I think I weighed around 196 pounds and I got down to around 135,” she specified.

The Power of Whole Grains

Wholemeal,Fusilli,Pasta,Whole, GrainsShutterstock

Her main dietary change at the time involved swapping out white carbs with whole grain and whole wheat. “I literally had grilled chicken, pasta, grated cheese, and tomato sauce every single day because that's what made me happy,” she said. After graduating from college in May 2022, “and I honestly was a very steady weight of around probably 129 pounds to 140 throughout all of my senior year of college,” she felt like she was at a healthy weight for herself around 135 pounds. She spent the summer lifeguarding. “I was having a really fun time, and honestly everything was going very well,” she continued.

A Stressful Job Ruined Her Health and Happiness

Samantha_Costa2Samantha Costa/YouTube

However, in August she started her “big job at a big four company” and it was “the downfall of everything,” she claims. “I'm not going to talk too much about it, but the stress of that job, which I am no longer working in, was very, very hard for me.” She stopped working out and spent most of her free time isolating. Over a period of about 7 months she probably gained 60 to 70 pounds, and was “very, very sad,” she says. “I wasn't happy with how I looked and I was having a hard time with it, but it was more that I knew I wasn't healthy and I knew I needed to get healthy because of this. I would always tell myself, ‘You know what? You did it once. You can definitely do it again.’”

She couldn’t motivate herself to go to fitness studio again, “something that I used to love going to do,” she says. While she used to walk 10,000 steps a day, she “was lucky if I hit probably 500 steps a day because I was always at my computer, always doing something for work, and there was really just no time for me to do it.”

She Lost 10 Pounds in a Week and Kept Going

Every day she looked in the mirror and told herself “in three months from now, you will look so much better. You'll feel so much better, which is the most important, and you will want to do things because you started.” Eventually she started seeing progress, claiming that she lost 10 pounds in one week, which she knew was water weight. Within a few weeks she noticed a “little bit of a difference” and once she started to see that difference, “it was a lot easier to believe in myself and notice that there was real progress happening and that there was change happening, which allowed me to keep going within my journey.”

The Secrets to Her Success

She revealed that she did keto, which is “very hard to sustain,” she admits. “It was very hard for me to eat a certain amount of carbs every single day, and it was very hard for me to cut out sugar. I'm someone who loves sugar, but I knew that in order to be in a healthy place again, and in order to get to my goal in the most efficient way, especially with summer coming up, I needed to do something that would really change and really allow my body to adapt.” She also emphasizes the importance of protein. “Eating carbs is something that obviously we all need. I am not saying don't eat carbs. Please eat your macros. Please eat carbs. Please allow yourself to have the energy that you need. I'm just saying what I did was I lowered the amount of carbs that I ate, but I was still eating enough to feel energized to be able to go to the gym and to give my body what it needs.”

She Increased Intake of Proteins and Exercised

Amping up your protein intake may help you lose weight. According to clinical trials, consuming more protein than the recommended dietary allowance not only reduces body weight (BW), but also enhances body composition by decreasing fat mass while preserving fat-free mass (FFM) in both low-calorie and standard-calorie diets. She also went back to fitness studio four to five times a week, starting with gentle workouts and working her way up to more intense ones. She also recommends taking rest days.

Stay Motivated and Positive on Your Journey

“In the beginning, you're probably going to feel like you can't do it and it's probably going to feel impossible, and if you are someone who doesn't feel like that, I give you so much credit because I've been there so many times and I felt like it was impossible every single time,” she adds. “The number one thing I want to tell you is to prove yourself wrong. Prove every single person that may have doubted you wrong. The only thing that matters is that you believe in yourself. The only thing that matters is that you have the mindset that will allow you to feel better, and every single time you question yourself, make one of those videos, take progress pictures, tell yourself that you are so much better than you were even one day ago, and if you are really having trouble starting, just try for one day.”

If you want to lose 20 pounds in a month, it’s time to change a few of your habits. Laila Torah is a social media influencer who shares about everything from fashion and beauty to weight loss. In a recent viral video, she details how she dropped 20 pounds per month to lose a total of 40 pounds. Here is everything you need to know about her weight loss journey, including the top 5 things she did to lose weight.

She Offers 5 Tips on How to Lose 40 Pounds in 2 Months

“Today I'll be talking about my weight loss journey and how I lost 40 pounds in two months,” she says. “So in this video, I'll be giving you guys five tips on how I lost 40 pounds in two months.”

She Always Felt Chubby Growing Up

She starts with a “quick history” of her journey, explaining that she “always felt like the chubby one” growing up. “I always felt like the biggest one in the group, and I feel like I became very conscious of this from an early age because I'm a twin, and my twin was much skinnier than I was.”

She Was Insecure Through Her Teens

“This insecurity continued throughout my teens, and I just remember on so many occasions wanting to go out and trying on so many clothes and feeling so fat and ugly and everything I put on that it literally just made me not wanna go out and just stay at home,” she says.

She Lost Weight, Then Gained It Back in College

“So in my teens, I actually managed to lose a lot of weight, and I was so happy I finally reached my body goal, but I did it in such an unhealthy way that it was not maintainable,” she continues. “So by the time I got to the end of my university experience, I put on all the weight that I had lost and more so in 2019.”

She Weighed 183 Pounds

“I graduated from university, and I remember stepping on the scales for the first time in years and seeing 183 pounds. Now that is a lot of weight, especially for someone of my height, being five foot three, and carrying 183 pounds is just way too much,” she adds.

She Knew She Had to Make Some Changes

“So from then, I knew I needed to do something about it. I needed to change my diet. I needed to exercise. I needed a major lifestyle change. This was so hard for me to do because, for years, I had created a lifestyle of just eating junk all the time, not exercising, and just being super lazy, to be honest,” she says.

She Started Her Journey During Covid

Then, in 2020, during the pandemic, everything changed. “I know Covid had such a negative impact on so many people, including myself. But if I could take one positive thing from Covid, it would definitely be my weight loss, and it would allow me to lose 40 pounds in two months,” she says, getting into the five tips that allowed her to lose weight.

Tip 1: Change Your Diet

Raw vegetables background. Healthy organic food concept.Shutterstock

“So the first tip is to change your diet,” she says. “Changing your diet, I believe, is the most important thing when it comes to weight loss because there is absolutely no point in exercising and your diet staying the same because you're really not gonna get any results. So changing your diet should definitely be your priority.”

You Don’t Have to Cut Out Food Groups

When all the restaurants shut down, she went onto social media and “found so many healthy accounts and learned how to make quick and easy and healthy meals,” she revealed. “You do not need to cut out any of the food groups. All the food groups are just as important as each other. It's just about portion sizes and portion control.”

Tip 2: Count Calories

CALORIE counting counter application Medical eating healthy Diet conceptShutterstock

“So that takes me nicely to my second tip, which is calorie counting. I highly recommend calorie counting. If you struggle with portion sizes and portion control, you can find out how many calories you're supposed to intake online based on your gender, height, weight, age, and activity level,” she says.

She Recommends Using an App

New Delhi, India 4 September 2023:- My fitness pal app on iphone used to calculate caloriesShutterstock

“I would highly recommend doing that because it is different for everyone. So when I was calorie counting, I used this amazing app called MyFitnessPal, and MyFitnessPal allows you to log your breakfast, your lunch, your dinner, and all your snacks in between. And it's just a good way of tracking how many calories you're eating throughout the day and staying within your limit,” she continues.

If You Are Hungry, Try a Hot Drink

“Calorie counting can be very, very difficult at times because when you are trying to reduce the amount of food that you are intaking, there will definitely be moments when you are hungry. But in those moments, I found having a hot drink to be very beneficial,” she reveals. “It just allowed me to get to sleep so that I would not go over my calorie limit for that day. You won't always feel hungry, I promise you that will change. Your body will eventually adjust and get used to your new portion sizes.”

Tip 3: Walking 10,000 Steps Per Day

Man using daily activity tracking app on mobile phone showing 10 000 steps daily goal achievementShutterstock

Her third tip? “Walking 10,000 steps every single day with one rest day,” she says. “So that means walking six days a week and on the seventh day, you rest. That was not meant to sound biblical, but we'll go with it.

RELATED:7 Steps to Shed Body Fat in 6 Months, From Ben Affleck's Trainer

You Should Take One Rest Day

Side view portrait of a relaxed happy woman resting sitting on a couch in the night at homeShutterstock

“Your rest day can be any day of the week. It can be at the beginning, the middle, the end, whatever day suits you best. If you're feeling super tired or exhausted one day, use that as your rest day, and then the next day, just keep it moving. It is very important to take that rest day because your body does need that time to recover, and you don't wanna put your body under too much stress because stress can result in injury, and then the injury could just stop you from walking altogether,” she explains.

She Eventually Made It Up to 30,000 Steps

A backpacker walking on the farm track with sheep grazing on the green hills. Taken at Wharariki beach track, Golden Bay, South Island,Shutterstock

After a while, walking 10,000 steps “became so easy that I then increased my step count to 20,000 steps a day and then eventually 30,000 steps per day,” she reveals. “I know 10,000 steps can be a lot of steps to people who are not used to walking.”

A Few Hacks? Break Up Your Steps, Listen to Music or a Podcast, or Talk to Friends

Woman exercise walking in the park listening to music with headphoneShutterstock

She has a few hacks to make walking easier. “So what I would find helpful and what I would recommend is splitting it and walking 5,000 steps in the morning and then 5,000 steps in the evening. Walking so many steps every day became so enjoyable to me. I found ways to enjoy it, whether that was listening to music or to a podcast or catching up with friends on the phone. Just find ways in which you can get excited about walking,” she says.

Tip 4: Cut Out Drinks

Soft drinksShutterstock

Her fourth tip? “Cutting out all drinks,” she says. “So that includes juices, fizzy drinks, and alcohol.” She claims this “was honestly the hardest step” for her “because I love my juice. I look forward to drinking my juice with my meals. I look forward to my orange juice, my ginger ale.”

It Was Hard, But It Gets Easier

However, it was the ultimate game-changer. “I know you're probably tired of hearing everyone say just drink water, but honestly, it really does work,” she says. “Once you make that adjustment, I promise you it is a lot easier. Your body will eventually adjust and just crave water. You just need to be consistent and stick at it.”

Drink More Water When You Are Hungry, She Says

Glass,Tap,Water,Faucet,Kitchen,drinkShutterstock

“Something that really helped me on this journey was that there were so many moments that I felt like I was hungry, but I was actually thirsty. And you would think that your body can tell the difference between hunger and thirst, but honestly, in moments where you feel like you are hungry, try having a glass of water, and it can make all the difference,” she says.

She Says She Didn’t Realize She Was Drinking So Many Calories

,Bubbly,Soda,Pop,Ice,Cubes,sugarShutterstock

“Drinking water is honestly key on this journey because I noticed a drastic change in my body weight when I replaced all those sugary juices with just water, which obviously has zero calories. I don't think people are aware that these juices have so many calories in them, so much sugar that they are almost like a meal replacement, and they take up a whole meal's worth of calories. So once you make that change, you will honestly see such great results in your body,” she maintains.

Tip 5: Be Consistent

Her fifth and final tip is to “be consistent,” she says. “Even when you do not see results. Be consistent even when you are not seeing the results as fast as you would like to see them remain consistent.” And if you enjoyed this article, take advantage of these 15 Quick Ways to Lose Body Fat Percentage in a Week.

I wish I tried harder and gave myself more of a chance all those years before I did. I wish I had the support, the motivation and the willpower to keep going back then. “I wish” was something I said every time I thought about losing the weight. Self doubt is something I talk about SO often with my clients because it’s THE thing that blocks you from starting AND committing to your journey. You have to block out the noise of thinking you can’t do this because your thoughts & your mindset will ultimately determine if you make it to the end. This weekend I challenge you to set yourself up for success - take a step into the right direction. Do what you need to do to make it happen. Don’t second guess yourself - just do it. You got this babes 🤍 #weightloss #weightlosstransformation #foryourpage #weightlossmotivation #weightlosscommunity #weightlosscoach

Prior to her wedding in November 2020 she lost a whopping 50 pounds – in just 15 months. After her wedding she lost another 70 pounds. She maintains she did this with a few simple changes: She started tracking her macros and calories and also weight and strength training.

3. She Wants People to Know That She Understands the Struggle

“Before you give up or just accept the fact you will struggle with your weight forever..I need you to first know I felt that exact same way. I never thought I’d have the discipline, the knowledge or the confidence to stay true to my goals. I never could stay with it in the past and nothing ever seemed to work so why did I think this time would be different?” she writes in one of her viral posts.

4. Change “Isn’t Fun” But “You Can Accomplish Anything,” She Says

@_getfitwithmer

Starting can be scary and if there’s anyone that gets that it’s me.. Starting was so scary to me because of all the failed attempts I’ve made in the past and the feeling of that kept me from trying again for years. I reached my ultimate heaviest when I gave up on trying and all the years that pasted by made not only my physical health suffer but my mental health as well. Living in a life you aren’t really living in isn’t worth fighting for! You are worthy of doing all the things you want in life and if starting is one of them then don’t hold yourself back. If guidance is what you need then I’m right here my love, it’s what I’m passionate about and what I live and breathe. Regardless of the steps you make today I want you to make each one count. Today will always be the best day for you to start. That’s from someone who did all of this because of not hesitating and just DOING! 🤍 #weightloss #weightlossmotivation #weightlossjouney #weightlossadvice #weightlosscoach #weightlosscommunity #fitnessmotivation

“I spent years of my life in that mindset and instead of making a change I continued to stay in the same place, doing the same things that only made things harder on me. 🥺 Change isn’t fun and just like anything in life it’s an adjustment but I can promise you this you CAN accomplish anything you set your heart & mind on,” she says.

5. People Always Ask About Her Diet

Meredith_Hutson7GET FIT WITH MER/Facebook

One of the things she had to change is her diet. “Meredith, what did you eat to lose 120 pounds? What was it that you were eating?” her followers always ask.

6. She Eats Ground Beef, Black Beans, and Cheese Daily

@_getfitwithmer

we keep it simp #weightloss #weightlosstransformation #weightlossmotivation #weightlossrecipes

“Listen, would you eat what I would eat?” she responded. “Because right now I'm eating ground beef.” She revealed that she consumes a high protein meal every single day, consisting of eight ounces of ground beef, one-half can of black beans, and some shredded cheese.

7. She Says Consistency Is Key

Meredith_Hutson5GET FIT WITH MER/Facebook

She wasn’t quite as confident that her followers would be fans. “Would you eat that?” she asked. “Like I'm actually really curious. “Not only am I eating this, but I've eaten this every single day for like a good solid two weeks. I like it, but it isn't extravagant by any means.”

8. How Protein and Meal Planning Help You Lose Weight

@_getfitwithmer

How did creating new habits help me lose 120lbs, along with changing my life in the process? ✨ Something I need you to know first is every single one of these were changes I personally made that got me here. It’s honestly mind blowing how much changing your lifestyle can do for you in your life. Never in a million years did I think cooking from home, waking up early, watching less tv, moving my body more, reading instead of scrolling and speaking kindly about myself could do for my life. I get emotional thinking about how I used to live my life compared to how I do now. Looking back I wasn’t “living” at all and it’s the reason why I found myself feeling unfulfilled & just lost in this world. You have the power to become anything you want. Look at what you do from the moment you wake up - how are you starting the day and how are you ending the day? What changes could you make now that will help you grow and become who you are meant to be in 2024? Apply yourself - give it everything you have and know I’m here to remind you that these changes aren’t impossible. Your life is whatever you make it to be. 🤍 #weightloss #2024goals #newyeargoals #weightlosstransformation #weightlossmotivation #weightlossinspiration #2024weightlossgoals #2024fitnessgoals

According to clinical trials, consuming more protein than the recommended dietary allowance not only reduces body weight (BW), but also enhances body composition by decreasing fat mass while preserving fat-free mass (FFM) in both low-calorie and standard-calorie diets. Meal planning is also a great research-backed weight loss hack. One, one study published in the International Journal of Behavioral Nutrition and Physical Activity found meal planning was associated with a healthier diet and less obesity.

9. These Other Healthy Habits Also Helped Her Lose Weight

Meredith_Hutson6_getfitwithmer/TikTok

Other healthy habits she has incorporated? She went from “eating fast food” to cooking at home, from “sleeping in late” to waking up early, and from watching tv to moving her body, she revealed in another video. She also reads more, goes on adventures on the weekends instead of drinking, and practices positive affirmation.

10. An RDN Weighs In

tara_collingwooddietdivatara/Instagram

We asked The Diet Diva, Tara Collingwood, MS, RDN, CSSD, LD/N, ACSM-CPT, a Board Certified Sports Dietitian, to weigh in on her tactics. “I love that she didn’t let the ‘I couldn’t stick with it in the past and nothing works’ mantra get her down and she tried again and was successful this time,” she says. “It sounds like she really took control of her not so healthy habits and decided to make a huge change in many areas of her life.” She also agrees that finding healthy meals you like and sticking to them as long as you want is a great idea, and is totally supportive of black beans, cheese, and ground beef. “Black beans are one of the healthiest foods around: Fiber, protein, high antioxidants, high in B Vitamins,” she says. “Cheese of course has calcium and protein. Ground beef is really nutrient dense and hopefully she was choosing the lean beef and draining any extra fat.”

Hamdan lost a whopping 30 pounds by following a healthy diet and exercising. In a recent clip, she reveals her diet. “Hey y'all, here's everything I ate in one day to stay lean as someone who lost 30 pounds,” she says, revealing that she eats 1829 calories and 147 g of protein per day. Body Network’s Resident RDN, The Diet Diva, Tara Collingwood, MS, RDN, CSSD, LD/N, ACSM-CPT, a Board Certified Sports Dietitian, co-author of the Flat Belly Cookbook for Dummies, also weighs in.

Breakfast

“I started my morning with my breakfast cocktail of oxygen and creatine. I just added the products to my showcase. So go check them out. I have my cocktail with Greek yogurt with strawberries and blueberries and a drizzle of granola,” she says. The total calories equal 157 and 14 g protein.

Lunch

“I'm in this phase where I eat nearly the same thing every day, and that's been scrambled eggs with cheese and spinach and some turkey bacon on the side,” she says about her lunch. “And honestly, I'm not complaining because it hits every time. Her total calories are 562 and 52 g protein.

Green Smoothie

Sometimes she will have a smoothie instead. “I made a cute little green smoothie and it was a little messy, but it was good regardless,” she says.

Pre-Workout Snack

“Later, for a pre-workout snack, I made some cute little tuna crackers with the green onion and bell pepper,” she says about the snack totaling 430 calories and 28 g protein.

OxyShred and Pre-Workout

“Then I got to the gym and made my OxyShred and pre-workout combo before hitting cardio and abs,” she continued. “It had me sweating.”

Protein Bar

“Right after my workout I had my favorite dark chocolate pretzel protein bar,” she continued.

Dinner

“And finally for dinner I made this super easy teriyaki chicken bowl over brown rice,” she said, adding that the 560 calorie and 52 gram protein meal is “so delicious and the macros forward are amazing.”

Dessert

“Lastly, for dessert, I had some chocolate 'cause I cannot end the day without a little sweet treat,” she said about the 120 calorie sweet treat.

“1800-1900 calories seems like a good amount for her, but I don’t know her exact age, height, weight, or exercise level,” says Collingwood. “147 grams of protein is probably more than she needs, but it is not dangerously high.”

Try Eating More Vegetables, Expert Says

“I see a little bit of fruit on the yogurt and a tiny bit of spinach in eggs and peppers in tuna but overall not much veggie intake (green smoothie was green powder and not real whole veggies) which is proven with only 16 grams of fiber for her overall day,” Collingwood continues. “I would recommend increasing veggies to aim for 25 grams of fiber each day.” She also likes how often she is eating with the meals and snacks in between. “I do worry about the OxyShred. I couldn’t find on their website anywhere exactly how much caffeine is in it and having it later in the day could definitely impact sleep since caffeine has a 5 hour half-life,” she points out.

20 Things to Avoid While on Ozempic

Ozempic can be highly effective for weight loss, but there are definitely some unpleasant side effects to contend with, as the makers of the drug, Novo Nordisk, warn about. Nausea, constipation, and stomach pain are common, but avoiding certain foods and behaviors can make a difference. Here are 20 things to avoid while on Ozempic, to make the most of the medication and encourage healthy weight loss.

Too Much Sugar

Different sugar on dark tableShutterstock

Added sugars, and sugary sodas, can spike blood sugar. Novo Nordisk, the maker of Ozempic and Wegovy, recommends that people avoid sugary foods while on the drug. “If you are taking medication to lower your sugar levels, it is advisable to avoid excess sugar consumption,” Dr. Dina Peralta-Reich, MD, FAAP, FOMA, tells Parade. “Failure to watch what you eat and keep your sugar levels elevated may prevent you from seeing the intended results of the medication,” she shares.”

Ultra-Processed Foods

Pop,Tarts,Toaster,Pastry,processed,food,sugar2. Processed FoodsShutterstock

Ultra-processed foods can make side effects of Ozempic worse. “This medication slows down gastric emptying and the dense food will move much slower through your intestines, which can make you feel sick [and experience] nausea, vomiting, reflux and abdominal pain,” says Dr. Peralta-Reich. “Someone may not see the results they're looking for either.”

High-Fat Foods

Symbol of a public toilet, bathroom, bathroomsShutterstock

Foods high in saturated and trans fats can make side effects of Ozempic worse. Some people complain of diarrhea and stomach pains. “I’ve seen an almost dumping syndrome-like response in people taking GLP-1s when they eat simple carbohydrates and high-fat foods,” Dr. Shauna Levy, a specialist in obesity medicine and medical director of the Tulane Bariatric and Weight Loss Center in New Orleans, tells TODAY.

Sitting All Day

Staying active is important while on Ozempic. Regular exercise is not only important for health, it can prevent muscle loss. The goal should be fat loss, and getting strong.

Not Hydrating

Don’t forget to drink your water and stay hydrated. Drinking water can help with side effects of Ozempic, especially nausea. Ozempic.com recommends drinking clear or ice-cold drinks to combat any nausea and discomfort.

Too Much Alcohol

Avoid alcohol on Ozempic, experts advice. “One, it’s just empty calories. Two, it tends to make people make decisions that they otherwise might not make,” says Dr. Levy. “It could increase hunger, and the whole point of GLP-1s, or at least one of the points, is to decrease hunger. So it sort of negates their purpose.”

Be Mindful of Portions

Ozempic keeps food in the stomach longer, so bigger portions can cause discomfort. “Understanding that overall portions are smaller on these medications, we want to optimize nutritional intake and consume the ‘best’ calories available,” obesity medicine physician Dr. Christopher McGowan tells TODAY. “The focus should be on lean protein, healthy fruits and vegetables, adequate fiber and adequate fluid intake.”

Be Mindful of Coffee

“Overall, coffee is perfectly fine to consume, but for some individuals can lead to stomach irritation,” says Dr. McGowan. “Therefore, I recommend drinking coffee in moderation, such as one to two cups a day. Patients should also be mindful of calorie-dense additives, like cream and sugar.”

Don’t Skip Meals

Unhappy Woman refusing to Eat her Pizza Dish in a Restaurant. Disgruntled customer not liking the meal sending it backShutterstock

It’s easy to skip meals when on Ozempic, but make sure you’re getting enough nutrition. Some people have even become malnourished as a result of not eating. “It’s never healthy to not eat,” Dr. Hwang said. Dr. Janice Jin Hwang, the division chief of endocrinology and metabolism at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine tells the New York Times.

Don’t Consider It a Quick Fix

Thoughtful mature man standing near mirror at homeShutterstock

Ozempic should be part of a long-term health plan. “It’s important to note that if you start taking either of these drugs for weight loss, your body may get used to it, establishing a new normal,” says UC Davis Health. This can cause your weight to plateau. Research has shown that if you stop taking Ozempic (or Wegovy), it's likely that you will gain back the weight you lost.”

Same Unhealthy Lifestyle

Don’t continue an unhealthy diet and assume it’s ok because of Ozempic. “You can likely lose weight on semaglutide medications without changing your diet and activity behaviors, but these lifestyle changes will make the treatment more effective,” Richard Siegel, MD, tells the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy. “Also, we don’t know if weight loss will have the same health benefits if one does not change their behaviors.”

Protect Your Health

Some doctors warn that taking Ozempic can make people complacent about their health. “It is important to remember that obesity is heterogenous, chronic and complex,” Vijaya Surampudi, MD, physician nutrition specialist and assistant director of the UCLA Weight Management Program (RFO), tells UCLA Health. “There is no cure for obesity. It requires lifelong treatment that’s not one size fits all.”

Carbonated Beverages

Ozempic slows down digestion, keeping food in your stomach for longer. This causes a feeling of fullness and some unpleasant side effects for some people like belching. Stick to still water as carbonated beverages can make stomach issues worse.

Long-Term Goals

If you plan on only taking Ozempic or Wegovy for a short while, it’s likely your weight will come back on. “In one trial of Wegovy, people regained about two-thirds of the weight lost within a year of stopping the drug,” Dr. Siegel explains. “Lifestyle changes can help maintain weight loss, but it’s unusual to maintain all weight loss once you stop any weight loss medication.”

Refined Carbohydrates

Refined carbohydrates tend to spike blood sugar, which is exactly what Ozempic is meant to treat. You don’t have to cut these foods out entirely, but be aware it makes it harder for Ozempic to do its job. “Foods like white bread, white rice, crackers, or even cereals may seem like better choices than foods with added sugar, but refined carbohydrates still metabolize as glucose in the body,” Christine Fallabel, MPH, tells Diabetes Strong.

Watch Out For High Fiber

While many green vegetables are low GI, be careful about the fiber. “If you’re not used to eating a lot of vegetables, you may experience side effects such as bloating and gas, until your body has acclimated to eating a more fiber-filled diet,” Fallabel says.

Junk Food

Junk food—which you should be avoiding either way for weight loss purposes—often contains high levels of sodium. “Ultra-processed foods are high in sodium, saturated fats and added sugars, which contribute to a range of health problems,” Elizabeth Ko, MD, and Eve Glazier, MD, tell UCLA Health. These include an increased risk of Type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, lowered immune response, certain cancers, dementia and early death.”

Spicy Foods

Ozempic can cause acid reflux due to slow digestion. Spicy foods can make acid reflux worse, experts warn. However, if acid reflux is not an issue, people can probably enjoy spicy foods if they wish.

Always See a Medical Professional

Ozempic should only be prescribed by a medical professional. “Typically, I prescribe Ozempic for diabetes and have more often prescribed Wegovy for weight loss,” endocrinologist Alyssa Dominguez, MD, tells Keck Medicine. “I have used Ozempic, sometimes, off-label for weight loss, though getting insurance approval for that can be challenging.”

Fried Foods

Fried, greasy foods can make Ozempic stomach issues worse. “Foods high in fat can make digestive side effects worse. Since food hangs around longer in the stomach, it has more time to cause problems,” Sarah Bullard, MS, RD, LD, tells Signos. “Some studies have shown that consuming too much fat can increase symptoms of fullness, nausea, and bloating in individuals with digestive issues and heartburn. Reducing fat intake resolved symptoms.”

Do you want to get your glutes sculpted for summer? Sophie van Oostenbrugg is a fitness trainer and the founder of the Gains with Brains app. She regularly shares workouts with her 2.4 million Instagram followers on how to burn fat and build muscle. “I grew up hearing that women should be as small as possible. That’s why I loved being able to share my bulking journey on social. I’ve done 2 bulks so far.. and I was thinking about starting and sharing a 3rd one,” she wrote in a recent post. She also revealed her “medium leg day” workout, which will help you tone up fast.

She Does Multiple Leg Days a Week

“I have good news today..it’s a medium leg day!!!🫣🤭sooo I split my leg workouts & currently have lighter, medium and heavier days. this helps me with recovery, train through a variety of rep ranges and make it more enjoyable,” she explains in the post.

She Does 8 to 12 Reps of Each Exercise

In the video she explains that she has “multiple leg days per week.” She goes onto reveal all of the exercises she does with “rep ranges from 8 to 12.”

RDLS

“I started with RDLs, four sets of eight,” Sophie reveals. To do Romanian deadlifts, start with both legs pressed evenly on the floor. “Slightly bend knees while bending over,” says The Body Network’s Resident RDN, The Diet Diva, Tara Collingwood, MS, RDN, CSSD, LD/N, ACSM-CPT, a Board Certified Sports Dietitian. “Keep your arms pointing down toward the floor and lower with you almost touching the floor. Keep hips and shoulders square facing forward throughout the exercise. Return to standing.” She suggests repeating 10 to 12 times with the right leg and repeating on the left side. “Progression includes holding a weight in the arm pointing toward the floor,” she adds.

Sumo Squat with Kettlebell

“Then I moved on to a sumo squat with kettlebell. You know the deal, form over everything, so go slow and control the weight,” she says. Sumo squats are similar to regular squats, only you point your toes outward.

Glute Bridges

“Then I did glute bridges,” Sophie continues. You can do glute bridges with or without weights.

Cable Step Up

Next up? Cable step ups, using an exercise block. “These are great as they help with balance and therefore they're easier to overload,” she says.

Seated Leg Curl

She sits down at a machine. “Then I did a seated leg curl,” she says.

Core Exercise

“I finished with some core exercises,” Sophie concludes. “I want to get my core as strong as humanly possible so I can keep recording more intense ab workouts.”
